not only is it a waste of 3 bars for a buff that doesn't raise him to far above the rest of the cast, Frieza also gets stunned after Golden Frieza runs out. During that state, you can spend 1 bar to fire a measly attack to save yourself, but most of the time you're screwed and are on the recieving end of a n optimal combo.

If you do the maths, optimal combo/1 dead character > potential from golden frieza install most of the time.

Do I pick up UNIST or Smash? I already own both and want to dedicate myself to one of them and actually learn the game. Last time I tried UNIST it was barely active, but EVO's really helped pick the community back up.

In an American tournament, only Japanese players who are very good will travel that far. Americans who don't need to travel/invest as much who may not be as good will show up. Now, at a top level, that just comes down to certain natural talents and it's not a simple JP > US but in some games that actually is true. Right now nobody in FighterZ from the US can handle the best Japs since they figured out SonicFox.

Smash will give you a huge community, but the online is not great and the community has its issues. UNIST has been steadily growing and will be getting a new revision in the future so it won't die any time soon.

Smash is also weird to learn if you've only played regular fighters before, but from a clean slate they're about equal.

Under Night will teach you fundamentals for other games in the genre. Smash just teaches you Smash.

It's on a timer. Once it runs out the opponent gets an easy punish in most cases. Using it gives Freeza reverse beats so you can do some sick combos if you manage to get a hit. It's best used as a reversal since it's invincible on startup.

There is a story mode. PC version is probably the best version for fidelity.

It comes with SoulCalibur players, go online while being new to the game, and it'll pair up with people that winquit and destroy you even when they know you're obviously new to the game, judging by the rank

Very. The optimal stuff is more about memorizing what works when as opposed to difficult execution, but even without that you can get decently far just knowing when you can press buttons.

Well one thing I will say just to preface this is that I mostly play Guilty Gear, and my opinion on this is partially informed by that being my standard for a fighting game.

The main thing I dislike is the combos. They are longer than I'd like, but beyond that, they're also very easily started. In a lot of games a quick button that you mash, like 2A in UNI, would not lead into a big long combo, it would be relatively short and lead into something that would give you a knockdown or something so you could get back into neutral, while big combos would be started from a combo, or meter burn or whatever. In UNI, almost any button can lead into a big combo, and while having GRD or meter can extend the combos further, just a normal combo off of a 2A you mashed to get out of pressure is already way too long for my liking, and those options that would usually just make a short combo into a longer game in another game just makes a long combo into an even longer combo in UNI. That on top of there being nothing like a Burst makes it all the more annoying, because there's nothing for you to be considering while you're stuck in one of these combos aside from what you'll do once you're out of it. It doesn't necessarily need a mechanic like Burst, because it's not really the kind of game where that would be appropriate, but it is something that just compounds on top of the already frustrating combo length. Most of what else is going on in the game is good, but that was one big issue I could not get over when I was playing the game, and while I still intend to play the next UNI, it was enough of an issue for me to stop playing [st] and I imagine I'll only play the next game for a few months too.

Also, this isn't about the game's mechanics, but the lobby system is pretty bad in my opinion. You can only have one game going at a time in a lobby of 8 people which I really dislike, and it's even worse in a game with an already small playerbase.

On top of all this he has a 4 frame standing overhead kick, which I believe he can link from his crouching kick for a sort of hard to deal with guessing game

It is weird watching samsho, cause it feels so alien compared to modern fighters. Basic ass pokey poke projectile works, mixups are just two actions and then you get punished. You use your tools wherever they feel like they'll work rather than it being a designated for this situation only button. Blocking is strong and rewarding, what madness being rewarded for defensive play.

I'm glad SNK took those risks. So much of design now is you must do X and Y. Is tool is strong it must have all these drawbacks. But here is samsho going nah space your invincible move well and punishing it is hard. Sometimes characters should have seemingly unfair strong moves, maybe Genjuro shouldn't have them all and the best but characters need some spice.
