What was considered the GOAT before OOT & Mario 64 came out?

Despite what PC fags will tell you, nobody actually cared about their games until Half-Life 2 came out. For most people the debate was between ALTTP, Chrono Trigger, Super Mario World & Super Metroid.

This has an actual list from 1995. Space Invaders is #1 and the highest Mario game is Super Mario Bros. at #66.

It was an older revision of a Wikipedia list, someone just updated the list count for the games

user when PC fags tell you about better games that existed during those years, they aren't trying to contradict the fact that console games were more popular. They're (wrongly, apparently) assuming that you're interested in what people of taste considered to be the best games and not just what the plebeian masses liked the most.

This is a list that came out the same month as Mario 64 in North America, which is #1 based on the editors playing the Japanese version of the game. Tetris is #2 and Super Bomberman 2 (???) is #3.

Mario 64 is still the best game how sad a 2019 game can't beat it odyssey fucking sucks compared to it.
