What video games have HUGE spaceships?
What video games have HUGE spaceships?
Xenosaga 3 has a a spaceship as big as our solar system.
In Star Ruler you can pretty much make galaxy sized ships
that spaceship looks like moldy, torn cardboard
>500,000 lightyears across
>there is only 1 bathroom
Can culture ships even compete with Star Ruler ones in terms of destructive capability?
At the highest levels of tech these assholes don't even use conventional weaponry anymore, they just warp spacetime to destroy things.
Imagine the smell
In scale, not really. Though the Culture does a pretty similar things, opening up tears in spacetime to an alternate universe comprised of nearly infinite energy (the "grid"). Culture Minds use hyperspace just to think because lightspeed isn't fast enough, and engagements are measured in microseconds.
Is there a name for this kind of bullshit space magic garystuardism?
this is so stupid
I'd take Arcadia over this bullshit any day.
epic
Technologyscalation
Who would win, a fuckhuge imprerial star destroyer or a tiny little kamikaze fighter?
This is actually retarded.
>more than 1 post in
>no gurren lagann
fucking NEWFAGS
mechs aren't spaceships
>square aren't rectangles
My dick
in your mom
More stupid than WH40k
Damn that looks cool as heck
Well, it's the same ratio in scale anyway!
That's just stupid
Probably the star destroyer desu, I mean at that size you could kill the entire crew on the bridge and it would likely be many hours before the people manning the turrets or whatever were even aware of it. And the chain of command must be such a convoluted clusterfuck that you would have plenty of replacements for whoever was killed.
An RKKV can destroy any star ship. The bigger you are the better target.
Tiny little kamikaze fighter lightspeeds right through the vessel and possibly splits it in half.
Depends if you mean lightspeed or infinite speed
I dunno, whatever they did in the last star wars movie.
That's more magic and less science
youtube.com
I wonder if slicing it would actually kill the ship, you'd think something that big would have redundancies throughout
Post GSV names
What has some of the best starship names and why is it Halo?
Star Ruler, no limit to spaceship size
Mantles Approach is larger than a Cukture GSV
Is the fighter using hyperspace?
The Culture is too fucking cool.
Destiny
FreeSpace 2, especially if you play mods like Inferno.
Nice
Why does it look like a "gamer" computer tower
I still don't understand how the leviathan was so fucking huge while the cabal were shitty fucking retards in the actual campaign
First of the campaign was bad. Secondly the Cabal are described as beserkers in battle. They don't much care about strategy other than excessive force to obliterate their enemies.
I can't believe you'd be able to make spaceships lame
I just think there's a BIG fucking dumb move to make a FUCKHUGE ship just to make wine for a fat guy while your actual combat ships are way smaller
Now that's a huge bitch
t. Atomic Rockets
GSV Centrifugal Bumblepuppy
that makes me wonder. Wouldn't the ships just get crushed from their own mass due to the near instant acceleration to lightspeed? Would a real life lighstpeed drive need months to accelerate/decelerate?
it wasn't an actual spaceship though; more like a giant living being
Can you make one bigger than the universe?
because everything 343 touches turns to dog shit.
Games for this feel?
Real lightspeed drive would need infinite time to reach light speed because speed of light is infinite.
>Ship is so large the front looks like cosmic dust when you look out from the back because the time it'd take for the light from its construction to reach you is millions of years away.
That's not quite right. Light speed is finite, but it would take an infinite amount of time to reach because your mass increases the closer you get to 1c.
Almost all fictional FTL drives function by going into another dimension with different physics or by warping space time around the ship to move. You aren't "accelerating" in the traditional sense, you're only moving faster relative to the surrounding universe.
>That's not quite right. Light speed is finite, but it would take an infinite amount of time to reach because your mass increases the closer you get to 1c.
It's a matter of perspective. Light is bound by the speed limit of causality, which makes light not experience time. The faster you go the slower you will experience time, which makes it so it's possible to reach something 3 light years away within 1 year, however at least 3 years have passed for an outside observer. It's more about time than mass.
I feel like I should hate 40k ships for how stupid they are but the whole "cathedral in space" architecture is just cool
For a ship that large it would probably take several days for all of the crew to be aware that they were even attacked.
They probably have like anti-mass tech whatsit so they can make ships larger than too large, nawmeen
Didn't Enders Game do this properly?
I seem to remember that Ender's brother became god emperor of the planet and then died of old age in the time it took Ender to travel to a new planet.
I guess light speed is infinite for the one travelling at light speed, but for everyone else, it's still going to take you 4 years to get from Earth to Alpha Centauri.
It was a plot point in Gunbuster.
40k has the surprising property of making stupid garbage completely believable.
the "warp" as a concept allows all manner of completely bullshit stuff to make sense
Now that's an achievement.
If you're talking about spaceships you can actually pilot then probably Eve for the largest variation between pod and titan (technically are you piloting a POS?)
That's just a galaxy.
I wonder if they have cosmic windshield vipers for when a planet splashes against the control room window
The gravity generated by the ship itself should crumple it like a tin can, I doubt they worry about planets.
The largest non-retarded spaceship in all of fiction is this.
Why does the didacts ship even need to be that large? Whats its purpose?
...what is it?
Based and physics pilled. Shown a bit close together though.
>The gravity generated by the ship itself should crumple it like a tin can
Damn, they have tech that can turn objects into 2.5D as well? Those guys think of everything.
Well, there's also the Dämmerung, 1000Km is big enough, I think. Leave it to based Vector Industries to make kickass technology.
>spaceship/station/whatever the fuck it is looks like a giant nut
Okay now that is the lamest spacething design I've ever seen.
SUPER TENGEN TOPPA GURREN LAGANN
Fun fact, if you do not set a size limit, the AI empires will just keep making the ships bigger and bigger. Infact it seems like the AI will try to go for the biggest ship possible. however with a size limit you can make ships as massive as you want.
Pretty sure that's why they tried to oust him.
He seemed like a corrupt shitbag
I guess it is that way to hold a whole armada. Its the capital ship of the forerunners and the personal vessel of the Didact, their supreme commander, after all.
>large as the solar system
>mostly solid metal
>uses gravity furnaces to avoid crumpling into a supermassive black hole
>cannibalizes galaxies from other dimensions to expand
>elevator rides can take months
>could contain quadrillions of people, but most of them would think they're completely alone
BLAME! video game when?
No game would make it justice, not yet at least
>my face when zoomers dont even know about xenosaga
good games
Republic Commando, Ghost Ship mission
I love that shit, the idea that they look that way to bolster the gellar field is such a cool explanation too
Why did Nihei fall from grace so hard? BLAME! is a masterpiece, and his new stuff doesn't compare at all.
I wish Blame did a better job of conveying its own scale, there's so much shit along the lines of when a guy just says "this elevator will take 3 months btw", Killy sits down, and then on the next page 3 months have passed.
>Dämmerung
Just reminded me of this
youtu.be
Is it revealed how its being built? Spoiler rundown?
I believe all the people who had the genetic code required to control the Builders all died out, leaving them to pointlessly expand the City at random with no direction. I think that's what happened anyway, it's been awhile
>elevator rides can take months
try years
That's the beauty of it, Killy walking across this room that kind of looked like outside but it was merely so vast it created that illusion. The little box in the corner that said something like 3534534534534 seconds later was great too.
>not the vasari loyalist titan
Mostly it's an army of robots with varying degree of sentience being tasked to expand the city at the very least a few thousand years ago going rampant and never stopping. Builders come in all shapes and form since they basically evolved away from each other.
Star ruler is so underrated. With the galactic armory mod it's kind of hilarious how OP you can make your ships.
they don't know
>dude gurren lagann huge epic drills and shit fight da powa lmao
>>>/reddit/
Sci fi?
Yeah but even with ringworld shipyards it takes like 20 IRL minutes at 4x speed to build a galaxy sized ship, and since the ship customizer system is relative you can only place like 20 guns on it before running out of space, and larger guns take longer to reload so it's not very efficient at killing things.
>Infinity fires main gun
>about the same firepower as a 2000 pound bomb
That was fucking lame
ROU I Don't Like Your Attitude
GOU Can't We Settle This Like Adults?
GOU Gun to a Knifefight
GOU Best Served Cold
MSV They Told Me I Needed More Gravitas
SL Mostly Engine And Hot Air
Most stuff turns to shit when one aspect is too over the top compared to the others, but 40k is all over the top, so it somehow ends up being fun
I already played StarCraft 2.
in one of the early Metroid manga's the space pirate assaulted Zebes with a ship so large it pretty much was a large flouting continent that attacked the planets shields with a black hole generator anyone got that page?
Like 'gears, why remember shit games?
>There were probably humans that wandered off in some random direction and never encountered another human or otherwise living being until they died of old age
here it is for the record zebe is 11,700 km in dimeter. anyone want to try to number crunch this thing?
whoops forgot the equatorial radius: 5201.156 kh
Would it be possible to make a good Culture game? What genre would it be?
>tfw still can't believe Banks fucking died
You could either play as a humanoid agent of the Culture ("special circumstances" I think they were called?) or play as a Mind in turn based space combat, with each turn being one millisecond of real time, fighting enemy AI with both weapons and hacking.
I tried reading BLAME! but it looks like such shit I can't tell what the fuck's going on 90% of the time. Are the scans just terrible or is it really supposed to look like that? If yes to the first option do you know anywhere with decent quality online?
Which one is better Star ruler 1 or 2?
