Be real, have you ever actually gotten first place?

What are some strategies for this? Normally I just target KOs because I like the idea of being the reason someone gets killed in this, and it earns me badges so I can kill even easier. Is just badge hunting better? Though I feel like the better players would have the badges and thus be harder to kill anyway. Or maybe just target my attackers? What do you anons do?

I won like 30 or so games, but it took me fucking forever to win my first game.
It's kinda boring now. Would rather play Puyo Puyo Tetris or Tetris Effect if I want to play Guideline Tetris. I'm just trying to grind a sub-35 Sprint right now for the hell of it.

It's honestly random with how good the person you're playing against is, of course factoring in the rng of the pieces too. Skill is involved but there's more luck here than I wished

for events, you get gold coins if you manage to place in the top 999 for wins or points

A lot of the times I die prematurely is because a bunch of good players were set on me and kill me with tetrises. I also heard that the random thing actually is biased to the higher leveled players in the match, and there's a few videos proving this too.

They're mostly just what separate good cleanup from shitty cleanup, so the person who cleans up more efficiently gets rewarded for it. They're also really good for answering alot of attackers at once (especially with lots of badges) since they become worth so much more. Very useful for making the most of a low stack.

just bait a dozen attackers by stacking really right and covering the hole, and then combo them into oblivion by sending 10 lines per clear

I find that the spacing for the joycon d-pad helps me a lot. I just wish that the buttons were a bit bigger.
Also the D-pad for the pro-controller is shit.
