This. It's a niche community revolving around a niche genre and this is their even more niche super bowl. The only thing EVO is ever good for is seeing the reveals. It's actually kind of sad so many of these guys look forward all year to seeing their FGC friends who otherwise they never get to see. It's more about just seeing old bros again than it is the games themselves.

The current iteration of Capcom fighters is poor. DBZ is a shallow game that has been all but played out. Tekken is pretty great but not enough to get me to tune in alone.

The event is also far from the scenes routes and is increasingly corporate and controlled. Other tournaments like CEO or SCR/NCR and the winter events are just more exciting imo

I don't give a fuck. Even as a fighting game player, watching other people play is fucking boring. All EVO means to me is trailers for new stuff after the boring events are over.

i have no hype for evo anymore. i have watched it for the last 6 or 7 years, but my hype started to decrease because of street fighter 5. last 2 years i thougt it was because street fighter 5 was relatively new and people haven't figured the game out, but sometime last year - while watching some other tournaments - i realized its street fighter 5 itself.

the game is just mindnumbingly woring to watch, because everything that happens in it is always the same.
the game has no depth. everyone is doing the same shit combos.

No the 10hits aren't juggles or combos despite their name. It's just a 10 hit string that noobs learn in training and then use to impress their friends when in truth it's almost always very very blockable and unsafe as hell.
But the point is that a new player could easily be confused into thinking that a 10hit is useful when it's usually not at all.
