>Yea Forums finds a game and spergs out over it for a few days together
I love when this happens.
Best times to be on Yea Forums.
Enjoy this and EDF while it lasts.
can't swing at anything
can't cast spells
shitty pile of jank
Remember Grimoire? Fun times.
Also seeing Yea Forums come together and collectively enjoy a fresh take on an old game is nice, and the more people who are playing and downloading and contributing to the community the better the modding scene will develop. Maybe one day DFU with the help of mods can be a truly great game. It’s a modder’s paradise right now.
what's your charecter build like?
Agility effects your chance to hit with weapons
Willpower effects your chance to hit with spells
Speed effects the speed of every action meaning more hits and more spells
if you didn't take 3x INT in Mana during character creation you're not going to be able to cast very much
So uhh, I just downloaded the DREAM pack and now Wayrest is gone...
this happen to anyone else?
>bethesda gives a C&D
>todd releases a Daggerfall Advanced edition which is just their free download with better graphics for $59.99 and has no modding potential
how would you react
i don't think my spells are even casting
i just get a zap sound and nothing happens
I'd buy it
I cant climb that mountain so Im sticking with skyrim
>Wayrest is gone
heh heh
Skyrim doesnt even have a climning skill Todd.
Yeah this basically
sage
What's your progress so far, boys? Haven't done much of the main quest beyond Morgiah's first quest. Doing a no magic run so I've just been focusing on raising my rank in Julianos, just unlocked the item maker and it's a total fucking gamechanger.
heh... sadly I'm not far enough in the game to understand the reference. Pls send help. Disabling the mod doesn't work.
Welp, i've found my nemesis
Can't get out of here
Been messing around with the mod making side of things
Pretty cool way of doing things if you know how to use Unity and C#
why so much luck?
the true noob test of daggerfall
the privateer's library
You can open that bookcase with a switch.
From the other side.
So which is it an Oblivion or a Daggerfall thread?
You are sending mixed messages.
Not even past the first dungeon and you turned into a NEET
Trying to progress through the main quest with my redguard werewolf girl but I think something broke because I can't seem to activate any quests. I talk to Lhotun to do his quest, hit Yes to accept, and then he just remains silent and nothing is added to my log. Trying to talk to him again does nothing. Helseth has a similar thing going on for him.
how did you get in?
nvm deleting the data from the folder worked
>You are sending mixed messages.
maybe if your first game was Oblivion.
It is just tourists from the codex shilling the newest nostalgia bait game.
They usually have a good week or two in them before they get bored and start heading back to the codex.
is there a new word filter? gamer
Shilling a free game?
imagine playing daggerfall in 1996 and thinking how big and polished the next few elder scrolls games would be
>the codex
what's the codex?
Nope Morrowind.
For all its faults Oblivion is max comfy.
From my time with the Betony demo comfy is not a word that fits Daggerfall.
great
the disease mechanics broke on my character and now I am infectet with lycanthropy like 7 times and that one temple heal didn't work, seems like it cured only one of them
fortunally the stat boosts also stack like seven times, now I have 100 in speed, agi, str and end with level 3
hopefully I don't need to do the healing quest 7 times
Yeah just imagine how big the world will be and how many skills we will have in 20 years!
>shilling a free game
>shilling an unity rework for a free game
For me, it's Morrowind. The best RPG ever made.
Morrowind was pretty impressive as a sequel
desu every mainline ES game has been a huge seller and really impressive when it was released
any mod ideas in particular you’re thinking of pursuing?
kek
reloading did the trick, the table is the lever
how was i supposed to know that lul
sheer power of jumping climbing and crouching, but doing the same from inside didn't work
Also turbo brainlet question, but how do i loot without equiping?
Just want to hoard until i get to a city and sell it all
just
imagine
ups, forgot pic
Where old men who get confused by new things go to bitch about all the kids on their damn lawn.
>no porn mods
>not sexy companions
>no graphics
yeah hard pass you guys don't get why people like elder scrolls
I love watching the zoomers in these threads try and wrap their peanut brains around the reality that Morrowind was actually just as much of a disappointment to fans as Oblivion or Skyrim if not moreso
>C&D a mod for a freemium game
>he's got split personalities, ALL of them Werewolves
so like /vr/?
I'm waiting to play it until there's a healthy pool of content-adding mods to sink my teeth into.
After the jump from Arena to Daggerfall expectations were high but iirc we got all those weird spinoffs like Battlespire and Redguard instead.
DF is comfy only because the rest of the world is so horrible. It's like typewriter rooms in Resident Evil. Honestly all TES games have a really creepy vibe lurking beneath the surface.
now post the guy bitching about daggerfall on release
Redguard is probably the worst TES game and it was Toddy's baby.
Butthurt detected
They believe if new players are exposed to the old games they will become more popular thus more will be made.
What actually happens is new players see what the old timers had to deal with in the dark age of gaming and feel bad for them.
I think you need new meds user.
The more I read into the background of things the more I realized that Todd is and always was the enemy
I wonder how hard it would be to add summoning spells in a mod, the effect is literally there with the Sanguine Rose already
Pretty much with a dash of /pol/
Why would I be mad you had to play shitty games way back?
Thanks for beta testing an industry for us though.
>Able to enjoy Daggerfall despite playing it decades after it launched
It falls into the same category as the original XCOM games. If I can play them and enjoy them today having played everything that has been made since that point and still find them extremely enjoyable they must have been fucking FIRE when they came out.
rate me
Stay buttmad
>class: mom
axe&short blade/10
Okey doke gramps.
Grrr I am angry at things. You happy now old timer?
Daggerfall is boring as shit and you aee everything the game has to offer within the first like 2 hours.Morrowind might be a more "smaller" game technically but it's a far far superior game. I wouldn't even consider Daggerfall bigger actually since it's just a PG wasteland of repetitive quests.
Good games never go bad, the hold up despite everything
Fuck off with your shitty Unity game, zoomers. Play Daggerfall properly or don't play it at all.
>no Speed
>3 weapons in Primary
>Elf
good luck
Daggerfall is timeless.
It is considered just as shitty today as the day it was released.
>is elf
>dosn't max out per
>low int
>axe as primary skill
it checks out
It's nord.
oh sorry
in that case its perfect
What does the medical skill even do?
So I take it this version of the game fixes the character creation? In the normal game, your race doesn't really matter unless it's something like Nord or High Elf with Resist Frost or Immune to Paralysis respectively. None of the skill or attribute bonuses showed up after you made your class.
problem with Morrowind is it feels so lifeless and the NPCs have no personality
normal daggerfall plays like walking in knee-high mud while someone hits you with a pool noodle
Give me mod ideas, anons. Ideally something fucked up or lewd or anything you wouldn't want somebody that knows you to read.
Yes.
helps you heal faster while resting
Prostitution
how do i get 3D trees?
I want to be able to find alchemy ingredients in the world.
>go into a dungeon
>mentally prepared for a huge crawl
>find what you were looking for in under a minute
Someone really needs to do a modlist to pretty up the world and sprites.
Gothway Garden... Home

How do I cast without picking the spell every time? Do I need a staff?
Yeah, and maybe even put in on the official forums where anyone can find it easily.
forums.dfworkshop.net
Got a few ideas bouncing around in my head but nothing solid yet, still learning how most of it works.
Is buying the small ship for 100k decent investment or should I wait until I get the bigger one or just skip them?
check the controls
there should be a key to "recast last spell"
I'd rather non sprite daggerfall look like a PS2 game than HD
Wish someone would rip out the models from Morrowind and thrust them into DF.
Do you mean gathering plants and stuff on the overworld? Sounds good, I'll see which greenery sprites could fit into giving you certain alchemy ingredients.
I'm already working on this, but it's not very good yet. It lets you talk to npcs, to see if they're interested in you or you can ask them if they offer themselves, which uses a streetwise/etiquette/personality check and then a mercantile check against yours for the price. You meet the NPC in their or your house, for text sex, but that's it. Feels like there's a lot missing to make it feel diegetic.
>Do you mean gathering plants and stuff on the overworld?
Yeah. No idea if it would be really easy or hard to do.
I was going to say both of these, what the fuck
How do we combine them?
Morrowind > Oblivion > Skyrim >
Daggerfall > Arena
what soundfont is the best to use for this?
Pheromone potion lets you get better prices if you're selling, sometimes get it for free if you're buying.
Bethesda have said they’re cool with the project, and there’s nothing they could do about it even if they weren’t. DFU itself doesn’t have its own content, it takes everything from the DF game files.
Ability to start a brothel
Prostitutes are already a faction in game so it should be easy enough to implement reputation gain for them / faction you sleep with. Combat rape could be another idea if you're low hp / low stamina and get hit again but it's harder to implement
>The Knight has been pacified by your Etiquette
Arena is good. Hush.
forums.dfworkshop.net
they've had a prostitution thread up for a while though nothing has come out of it yet
>you dream of a Man who is less than a Man
I don't even put points into it but I seem to pacify half the orcs in the game.
Remember PS2 Wizardry?
>you can buy lewd paintings at Pawn Shops
Todd you little pervert
Why does every person just fucking despise me at the beginning of the game?
You are ugly and have a horrible personality. Dunno about the game though.
Yeah reading that Morrowind post mortem article that came out not too long ago it seems like he has a short attention span and is more concerned with action oriented elements which these games have never really been good with.
What's your PER?
wew
>julian
agreed
Actually simple, but I have to think about how tracking would work. If I track every sprite the player harvested from with a timer, it will eventually run into memory issues and kill performance slowly. Maybe have the player harvest from 20 different sources, before allowing to harvest from the first one again, but that means players can just do a route and harvest endlessly.
>Combat rape could be another idea if you're low hp / low stamina and get hit again but it's harder to implement
If you're okay with text rape, like a dialogue telling you what those orcs did with your body after hauling you off, then that's actually very easy to do and I'd do it along with the one above on the weekend. If you want a whole animation or an onscreen animation, then that requires artistic skills and a new set of functions to draw stuff on the screen.
I'd do the programming but I'm not very good at 3d modelling and doing the texture or sprite work. At best I can fill a house with npcs, have them say rancy stuff and giving you the passive income.
Can you actually role play in this game or is it more of a dungeon crawler?
>I'd do the programming but I'm not very good at 3d modelling and doing the texture or sprite work. At best I can fill a house with npcs, have them say rancy stuff and giving you the passive income.
That's pretty fucking significant on it's own. I wouldn't worry about all new assets, just make the interiors look different from other types of buildings, even if it's only the layout.
Ahh shit it's actually 36. I guess that explains it.
Dungeon crawler
Another one. Now I'm on the holy quest to collect'em all.
the gameplay loop is dungeon crawling
get quest
go into dungeon
slay stuff and loot everything
put it in your cart outside
go back to quest giver
sell everything
it does have a nice talking system though but its very underused
there's quite a bit of room for role play, but the core gameplay is dungeon diving.
So, what features do we miss from the later elder scrolls that should be modded back?
Man the 90's really were glorious.
Why isn't the picture properly on the parchment and blocking the text?
Why don't you just have the plants be randomly spawned in a viable spawning area and don't worry about specific nodes? Have the calculated area be particularly large and track a "density" of resources, once used up they won't spawn at all until the timer is up.
So that's where the khajit came from.
What are some pointless skills not worth investing in?
Also, is there an Android port yet?
No, user, you don't understand.
Those ARE Khajiit.
Alchemy
People will say languages, but Daedric is pretty useful. And there's a mod now that adds an archeology guild that makes further use of languages.
These look like they were taken from real pictures, does anyone know from where?
Is magic essentially required in this game? Or is being straight warrior or thief still viable?
todds private collection
>but Daedric is pretty useful
not THAT useful, but Daedra are common late game enemies and VERY strong so being able to pacify them sometimes is nice
it also makes it easier to summon a Daedra Lord and get their artefact quest.
It's a strange combination of both. The core is dungeon crawling, but there are so many things like buying boats or knowing languages, or the way dialog works that makes it more of an RPG than most RPGS.
Remember D&D has spent more time played as a dungeon crawler than a roleplaying game.
The only essential magical effects, imo, are recall and levitation. You can make magic items that do these things.
Daggerfall and Arena were made by hardcore AD&D fans and tried to mimic it
NUTS.WAD mod when
Looks like a display bug, probably because high resolution.
recall isn't really necessary, just saves you a lot of time
even levitation can often be gotten around with jumping and climbing
>1000 skeletons screaming at once
Every single time I use climbing to get myself out of a situation I love this game more and more.
>open door
>saber tooth phases through the model 0.1 seconds after and rips my face off
It's only a matter of time
is archery a meme or no
Once I found a small town with merchants in a dungeon
it has its uses but I wouldn't main it.
I spend too much time playing dress up with the female PC
I prefer destruction as a ranged skill since its easier to aim the big flying magic ball and you have AOE spells
>that dungeon with a pit filled with 20 skellys
>quest to rescue some guy from bandits in a dungeon
>theres nothing but wild animals in the dungeon
>he says he's been lost there for days
This game is silly
Any mods that improve the character portraits?
Same, but with both sexes. This piecemeal clothing/armor system is the fucking best.
Magic looks a little daunting at first, especially spell making
But its very good once you get the hang of it
jceason.dircon.co.uk
Check this ancient guide for help and starter spell ideas
Download Andyfall lite and install it in the base daggerfall instal, not the Unity one
>pixel art UI with shadow border mixed with shitty microsoft words font
Absolutely disgusting, add Comic Sans while you're at it
How do you get the longer draw distance?
Try this mod
Thank you sir.
Just got lycanthropy while looking for that stupid letter in the dungeon
how do you like my horse guys?
Looks like it's from a shitty Telltale game
Looks good but cell shading is unnecessary.
Enjoy your insane stat gains and hunger.
Is there a list of taverns in Daggerfall City where naked ladies are guaranteed to spawn? I need it for reasons...
>no 3D trees
>sheath
I need to find a certain but everyone in town fucking hates me for no reason. Should have waited a while longer until those bugs are fixed.
*person
>no 3D trees
sorry is this more to your taste?
It's not a bug, buddy
No, this is
Ive gave myself a rep level of 20 for every person in town and its still not working. Seems like a bug to me.
>he thinks per is a dump stat
looks like shit
Reminds me of WURM
>jizzbrain jannie deleted this
Hey, how do I get people to point me in the direction of the person I need something delivered to?
When I ask around everyone just tells me "Fuck off, why would I help some stupid fucking Breton".
30 - 40 PER is optimal. Anything more is a complete waste.
The actual dump stat is INT though.
Imagine playing this game in 2019, retarded boomers at their finest
Hey nig nogs, what mods are you using?
kek
>spend a gorillion hours remaking a game
>doesn't sell it or ask for donations
so has he even gotten jobs offers lol. What a waste LUL.
That's actually what I did and npc's still wont talk to me.
Did you make a redguard?

join mage's guild and make a fortify personality spell, use it before asking for directions
goddamn the uesp beginner's guide is shit
it tells you to lower personality but now no one wants to tell me where the guy for the quest is
>enter a dungeon with giants
>they keep magically spawning out of thin air every few seconds
>try to rest
>it cancels before it reaches 1 hour and a nigger giant spawns in again
Why are these faggots so annoying?
DREAM (NPC's and mobs disabled)
distant terrain
enhanced sky
small dungeons
hmmmmmmmmmm
Graphical ones that improve textures and models but not sprites.
Tedious travel.
Sprites made by porn artists can't come fast enough.
Holy shit that's bad.
this is what you call a city, not those tiny piles of shit introduced in Morrowind
Are there any additional restriction on temple rank advancements? I'm at 54 rep with Julianos and got both skills high enough to get rank 5 yet I'm still rank 2 no NPC wants to promote me. Anyone encountered something like this?
My framerate was tanking inside this one house, so I set the it's process affinity to cores 2,4 and 6 and set its CPU priority to Realtime.
mod from last thread,
put them into the original game folder (Daggerfall/arena2) and NOT the unity one(DaggerfallUnity_Data\StreamingAssets\Mods). toss in the original files then overwrite with the tweaks and fixes

I just spent like an hour in the first dungeon getting my ass kicked. Couldnt even kill a skeleton.
Where do I go now?
Man knock knock was a really good game.
why do people complain about hurting wrists with mouse movement based attacks? do they have their sensitivity set to minimum?
I remember playing a bit of Daggerfall like a year ago. From what I remember, I got into a town, accepted some random quest about helping clear out a house or something.
Then I got mauled to death by a bear.
In the middle of a walled town.
By a fucking bear.
I'm kind of interested in giving it another try, but I have to wonder if this gigantic map is filled with just silly little quests like that at random or if there are cool things to discover beyond the main quest. Also if going full monk is viable for weebness' sake. I think last time I went with a staff because fists were useless
Why not the unity mod version? I hate making backups.
Which archetype would be the most interesting for the first playthrough?
Maybe go to Daggerfall
It's just a really old mod. The tweaks come from the daggerfall threads in /vr/ 5 years ago. And the womenfall mods are from 1998.
Fisting is good.
Alright, that's not what I would consider "Tights", but I can't complain. It also had french readme, so that explains everything.
Negative 3 armor?
how do i acquire a hoers?
Seems like a bug. I removed boots that gave +3 and it became -3. Weird.
Yep, saving and reloading helped.
Buy at a general store. Also buy a cart. It will save you lots of hassle.
weird, i can only sell at stores
not buy
Click the shelves.
Do I need to patch the original Daggerfall before I can use their assets for Unity?
Where do I get a cart?
Man, this game is addicting. I've been doing nothing else but playing Daggerfall these last two days. Feels good to play video games for a change.
DaggerfallSetup and GOG version are already patched
The thing with the DaggerfallSetup is that the language was patched and on downloading DFU it says it might be incompatible with those.
you get it from any shop
...
where do I get a store???
The store store.
I wish the dev guy luck and success in debugging everything from the game. If you'd be able to mod shit in easily, Daggerfall might have a renaissance.
YEAH BOI, i have a horse and a cart now
any way to fix this without starting over?
will a higher speed stat decrease the amount of time it takes to switch from my melee weapon to my bow and vice versa?
You can make your own fortify PER spells.
HOW CAN ANYONE SURVIVE IN THIS THIS PIECE OF SHIT GAME
You need to be at least 22 yo.
don't get lost in the dungeons
>go outside at night
>"VENGEANCE" scream out of nowhere
wat
I can't get into the mages guild though
What exactly are you struggling with?
>get one-hit by all enemies in dungeon so i just run
>collapse and die exhausted
fuck off
What is the best method for clearing dungeons?
I've tried the right/left hand method but it gets me more confused because it often takes me through one hallway of every module of the entire fucking dungeon without clearing anything.
I'm currently clearing things per module while using the right hand method and not advancing to a new module until I've cleared the current one. I'm wondering if there's a better method.
Trust your instincts and go through unopened doors. Also, you have a map. You can't get lost.
git gud
I hope none of you guys are save scumming
I just bliz around with no plan.
It works fine enough as long as you got recall set up.
>mfw I forget to anchor
Are you another faggot who mistakes the hp bar for fatigue because it's green?
I have an Elven warhammer as a Breton Nightblade in the first dungeon and I can't beat the skeleton in the first dungeon. what am I doing wrong?
In dungeons where I get 1 hit by scorps and zombies you best believe I'm savescumming
>what am I doing wrong?
You picked a preset class
I had a quest to carry a girl to a house and when I got there it said she left but the quest still isn't done and she is still on my screen. Is it bugged? How can I get rid of her?
I have a map and a recall spell. I'm not worried about getting lost. I'm worried about having to spend long times to search for my objective. It can be inside that one unexplored hallway that was hidden below all those levels of translucent walls. What would be useful is if there was a mod that sort of "marked" any hallways or doorways that have not been fully explored so they stand out better in that mess of a 3D map.
one of these days I need to play grimoire. Is it worth playing or should I just play similar games like it? I havent played a lot of games of its type, closest I've done is grimrock
So i got the letter from the main quest
But there's no inn with that name in Daggerfall, at least there isn't when i ask townsfolk
Is this a bug?
Just play the fucking Wizardry series instead, for the love of god.
Open global map of daggerfall.
Input first part of the name in search field.
Laugh.
It's in another city
Did I do something wrong? I installed DaggerfallSetup and pointed DFU at it. If I start the game I just get this screen now. The paths are correct in the ini
Jesus christ, thanks
When's the original UI coming?
Minimalism bars and oblivion compasses can eat a dick.
any others besides wizardry? thats the only one besides grimrock im even aware of
should i tick the "hit on click" option?
there are settlements named "the x and x Inn" and within those settlements are separate taverns with their own names. Yeah it's pretty confusing.
If you want more SOUL, go for Eye of the Beholder series, Dungeon Master, goldbox games. /vr/ will probably give you a full list.
first you should see how long you can last swinging your mouse around like a maniac
why would you play unity? you should play the game in the original!
I did. Unity build is less bugged at this point.
Romancing SaGa 3 and Scarlet Grace soon my boys
We shall have those comfy threads again
how does heavy armor affect casting?
>implying I haven't spent several playthroughs in DOSBox
>implying I wasn't there to see how DaggerXL's development stagnated
>implying I haven't been waiting for years for the Unity project to finally reach this point
>Negative 3 armor?
she was ready for penetration
It doesn't
Show your mods folder and name the mandatory ones.
that can't be real
I can't find the source for that picture. Is it even Daggerfall?
I'm installing Daggerfall, should I install these Unofficial Fixes or will they break compatibility?
It is really really confusing because the first part is actually another town, so i went there but none of the inns were there
So i had to travel to the second part, which had an inn with the same name as the first town
My head hurts
I couldn't get Daggerfall Unity working with the fixes
Careful not to talk about this game too often by the way guys. Underrail threads get moved to /vg/ now apparently.
Fuck you mods.
Kek underrated
It is the true power behind dindu nothin
Underrail threads get moved cause these retards keep making generals on Yea Forums
unless they found a way to unfuck the random dungeons and fix the quest bugs it's still not worth playing a new version. I still have my original cd of this game, it was fun but feels shallow compared to later entries.
Oh I managed to get it working with only hte fixes, didnt check any other option
>get a quest from a topless broad in the sentinel palace
>to yo bar to find chick she told me to find
>turns out to be a secret orc who flings me into some dungeon 500 miles away
>trapped in a room with a locked door
>no lockpicks
>cheat my way out
>climb up this shaft
>some trap door it won't me me open from the looks of the map
Wild game
Is there any point using shields apart from cool factor? They give a small bonus, different materials don't seem to do shit for them and you are forced to use 1h weapons.
I really want to do some sort of custom knight.
Never played Daggerfall before.
What's fun to play gameplaywise? Wizard/assassin/nightblade types any fun?
In morrowind I usually play wizard of some sort, is it similar in df?
just punch the fucking door
There's more to a general than a title format.
Discussion of a single indie title does not belong on /vg/, not after 2 weeks, not when the game takes much longer to complete.
>In morrowind I usually play wizard of some sort, is it similar in df?
better
>cant get out of privateers hold
why does everything do so much damage
>too dumb to try and hit the door
Gamer
The game isn't even that good, you people are all just circlejerking each other over nostalgia.
kek based dunmercuck
Made a new char in DOSBox with DaggerfallSetup that is much better at magic. BUT I think my main quest line is bugged. Cleared privateer's hold in DosBox, traveled to Daggerfall. Then loaded the save in Unity to continue playing. Now the letter from Lady Brisienna seems to not arrive.
I don't remember if there was anything specific I had to do. Last time I just walked the city streets for a while on my second day there and the letter showed up. I've spend several days now in Daggerfall and nothing.
Based, roasties get fucked

Can't wait for Dagglivion.
Trying a mage for the first time. Is your starting shock spell shit? It’s hard to tell when I hit and it takes a lot of casts to kill something. Any advice for starting as a mage?

Many of these people are probably zoomers that got it when you get a bethesda game on Gog
>nostalgia
90% of the people here weren't born when the thing came out.
if you rank up in Mage's guild you can make every broken spell imaginable. The most important things to own however are Recall and Mark so you can get the fuck out of the bottomless hell dungeons.
rude
It's because daggerfall unity finally has full parity.
Do they have any plans to add the missing order of the lamp and prostitutes factions?
just imagine: a time before thought crime/police
Already cheated my way out like a shitter but fuck. Didn't think you could just beat the door down.
>nostalgia
Litterally by first time playing a pre morrowind es and loving it seethe harder.
>daggerfall unity finally has full parity.
No it doesn't. It's feature complete by the core gameplay, but not completely.
dfworkshop.net
>never stablished that you can do that
not him but come on, unless it's mentioned in the manual you have no hint that you can just bash doors in
This is why people make fun of you zoomers.
Going for a complete no-magic build. I have inability to cast spells in light or dark, and inability to regenerate spell points. Wish me luck.
I'm basically older than you
Don't defend me faggot.
How can I get an immunity to paralysis spell or item if I'm a Warrior class?
Why are my fucking quests bugging out so much.
I needed to find a book, found someone in an Inn, she said she knows who has it and I should go see then. Its fucking HER and I cant do anything.
Also my fighters guild quest is in the same inn to kill a tiger but its not fucking here.
What is going on.
Guys hit on click or swipe to attack?
I feel hit on click might make the game easier
You can select immunity to paralysis at the beginning I think, or you can just be a high elf.
First time playing, but you can add resitances in the character creating, in the advantages option
I'm not defending you, i'm attacking him turbo-faggot
Wait around in the inn for a bit and the tiger should show up eventually
>clearing a dungeon
>it just keeps going
>having a great time
>finish and your anchor is gone for some reason, or you accidentally hit anchor and haven't saved for a bit
Release me from this hell. Do they have a duration?
I actually think its worse because you have to spam clicks, while hold and swiping repeats attacks as fast as possible
It’s not so much that it’s “easier,” just less frustrating. Your wrist will thank you five hours in.
Does the direction of weapon swings matter like it does in Morrowind?
How do I fix the mouse? It feels super floaty and delayed. I already disabled mouse smoothing.
I don't really wanna reroll as my guy is a total chad and can ace most 1v1 encounters apart from fucking scorpions. Is there any other way? I've heard about making magic items but have no idea how to do it.
Swipe. It lets you do those jab attacks that have a high hit chance when you really need them.
Lads..
I left.
But I just fast traveled to fucking daggerfall and now I have a fucking finger and a letter saying its cursed and some mummy tomb but no direction. Jesus.
When I install the draw distance mod anytime I start the game the screen is black.
After playing daggerfall for a bit, Oblivion feels much more like an attempt to return to its style compared to Morrowind.
is there a way to restore the old resting range? it keeps saying that enemies are near eventhough you could rest just fine in daggerfall like this
>Your wrist will thank you five hours in.
how low is your sensitivity?
Can I start with a bow? Never made an archer actually.
>It feels super floaty and delayed.
it's because you're not using a CRT.
How do I use my horse? Nothings working.
T
spoon feed me what mods to install
try disabling vsync
WHAT IS GOING ON WHY ARE THINGS APPEARING IN MY INVENTORY AND ARE GREEN.
I'm guessing gamer is the word that was filtered? cu.m.brain
The amount of bugs DFU has is crazy. It plays like a bootleg version of DF. I hope they can fix all of this.
Items with green backgrounds are quest related.
Remember Besiege?
Now those were some fucking fun times
I dont get it
DF plays like a bootleg version of DF
How do I use magic?
zoom zoom zoom
What the literal fuck is going on, did I fuck up installing something or missing some setting? The quests are just fucking making no sense. Walk into an Inn, retard says I stole something, dissappears, some warrior comes in.
I go to another Inn to sleep, guy says im a thief, gives me a note to go to some other store and talk, sleep in inn, talk to him again and the quest is progressing.
Is this normal? Is DF overall just this buggy?
>now post the guy bitching about daggerfall on release
This one, right?
If there is a problem report it to the lead dev, it ain't gonna fix itself
where are the vanilla textures and animations located?
yeah
That's normal, that's a specific quest available from the Merchants. One of the few quests that aren't a simple dungeon crawl or fedex job. It's noteworthy for being able to clear your legal reputation in a region when completed no matter how bad it got before that.
Bosmer starts with a bow
That was my first character, but i didn't make it out of the first dungeon lul
So you need melee weapons made from specific types of materials to hit some enemies but does that apply to bows as well? Is it what the bow is made from that matters or the arrows? I only see one type of arrow.
Back in the 90s and its preceding decades people always made jokes like these
>have to exorcise a ghost from a house
>cant figure out how to do damage
What am I doing wrong
And 20 years later there still hasnt come a game to surpass Ultima VII.
Arrows are just arrows, there's no materials. The material of your bow does matter, however, the same way it does for melee weapons.
imagine being underage and trying to fit in with posts like these
yell fus ro dah into your mic
The ghosts look wrong, is there a fix for this yet?
BASED
vanillachads report in
Ok, thanks, I was confused because it would probably make more sense that the arrow had to be of different material but I've never seen silver arrows or anything like that
wew thats nice
What's the material of your weapon
kill yourselves.
Where are the mods that let me be a gay prostitute?
The gnomes are working on it.
Is that xev bellringer?
looks like there's a mod for that
Sweet, link?
>And 20 years later there still hasnt come a game to surpass Ultima VII.
No, not boomer enough. We have to go even more boomer than ever thought possible.
>check status
>game says I'm healthy
>rest
>"you feel somewhat bad"
>die
...how did they get away with a dirty joke? gee I dunno man, maybe they just did because no one gives a fuck?
here, I haven't tested it myself
forums.dfworkshop.net
In some archive somewhere, there's old telegraphs with: PONG WAS THE LAST GOOD GAME STOP. I swear.
Cool, thanks.
Medical skill determines how quickly you are able to identify a disease. You're don't instantly know that you're sick like in all the later games.
Cool, the guy for my delivery quest isnt in the fucking house.
Why is this shit so buggy. Should I just forget quests entirely and fucking just go dungeoncrawling.
Who gives me the most dungeon quests?
how could you not know this? before you make it out of a dungeon you should have clicked mouse 1 at least once at a closed door or done it in town once and gotten HALT spammed.
scrolls? that's basically suicide if you go full barbarian.
Anchor does, you have to use Mark.
Silver or better, start robbing shops or do the tutorial questionnaire that nets you the Ebony dagger.
Okay, so by the looks of it depending on what temple you join you can either get potions, magic items or spells. If I'm not a mage, which would I want?
Ye Olde Vee was awesome.
New players unironically shouldn't use Recall. Being able to get OUT of a dungeon after clearing it is a valuable skill and teaches you to properly use the map, which in turn helps you get used to dungeon layouts and ensure you don't miss anything.
No idea why youre having so many quest issues, havent had a single problem here.
Is it a house in Hammerfell by chance, the kind with the more blocky architecture? They have a lot of houses with two levels where there's no way to get to the second level from the inside, but there's stairs on the outside leading to a door that goes into the second level.
Both the first and second level of those houses count as the same building so you need to check both to be sure.
Alternatively just walk through the house activating everything because (at least in OG daggerfall) it wasn't uncommon for some NPCs to be literally invisible due to a bug.
Half the time I forget to place a recall anyway, but I like using it to quickly store shit in the wagon and dive back in. Navigating out isn't hard with how good the 3d map is, but it gets tedious.
Disabling and reenabling mods can fuck shit up. There's a video on youtube where there's houses inside of houses.
What version of DF are you using? I am using daggerfall setup.
Fuck I guess I deserved that for taking a critical weakness to poison.
Same. Using the quest pack mod though, maybe they work better...
>how good the 3d map is
the is the real MVP of this project
Absolutely
>using remove and clicking on gear doesn't remove it off the character
are they even trying to make it like daggerfall?
>zoomers don't appreciate it because they just teleport to their quest objective with the console anyway
>he didnt get the ebony dagger at the beginning
>Who gives me the most dungeon quests?
Knightly Orders consist entirely of dungeon crawls. Pick any you like; they're all the same. They're each based in a specific region so ideally pick one in a region you'll spend a lot of time in.
The Thieves guild consists entirely of deliveries and other town based quests.
Everything else has some mix of both. Dark Brotherhood is almost all dungeon crawls until you gain more rep and the easier "kill target in X building" quests start to open up. Fighters Guild is the same except the kill-stuff-in-town quests are the earlier ones.
But really any faction other than the Thieves Guild can work if all you want to do is crawl dungeons. You can refuse quests over and over without penalty and the questgiver can offer you a new one from the available pool.
Where are the saves located?
This sweaty brown foxxy slaps your butt and wants come along with you to loot a dungeon, what do you do?
>you feel somewhat bad
High tailed it out of the dungeon (why are they giant mazes?) but cant fast travel or rest without dying. Found that fast traveling to the dungeon restored my health, but that doesnt help much. What do?
Use a Potion of cure disease. Or fast travel to the nearest town to see if there's a temple where you can get healed. If you can't fast travel, then I guess you could do it the old fashioned way :^)
I dont have any potions
Fast travel recklessly with inns for fastest travel time and go to the nearest town or temple where you can get cured. Make sure the "Temples" box is checked to show them (in blue).
It's rare that you truly can't reach anything in time before succumbing to disease, but if that is the case then it's basically a soft game over. Be better prepared next time.
Then pray that you have enough time to fast travel to a temple
Politely decline as I hate black people.
She looks white enough for me.
>make a magic absorbing mage spamming fireballs
>feels incredibly broken
>restart and make a melee beatstick
>catch lycanthropy
>become an untouchable melee blender god
>suddenly realize that I was trying to bring balance to an ELDER SCROLLS GAME
I was a fool, but have finally realized the error of my ways.
Time to go back to my mage and enjoy being completely busted as I find even more ways to break the game over my knee.
Nuke them infinite AoE spells the second we enter the dungeon
tits arent big enough so ima pass
Can you extend the explosion range of aoe spells? Or is area at range static?
>every random quest I get uses wrong names and making it impossible to solve
I don't know if I can power through this bros, Im about to go back to the original
Tedious Travel or just regular fast travel?
?
I'm enjoying tedious travel a lot, it's way more fun
Fast travel that is faster than walking but still lets you see the world passing you by.
Am I supposed to be getting my ass kicked in the first dungeon? I know everybody says to just run outside, but it feels bad not exploring the first fucking dungeon.
Ugh, so if you are part of the Fighter's Guild, merchants hate you? What does one even have to do with the other? I was planning on mostly doing quests for merchants early on so I could make more money in the long run.
How do you make characters not get killed in 2 hits?
>guards are always on my ass for "criminal conspiracy"
>i din du nuffin
>spend a few years traveling to reset my rep
>go to a city
>HALT
>HALT
>HALT
>HALT
>criminal conspiracy
fuck this shit
I explored the first dungeon completely on my first playthrough without ebony dagger crutch, it just took a lot of resting
For example, my last quest wants me to find The Black Porcupine in Santaki city and go into the Wickford Residence. This alone doesn't make sense, but there's no Black Porcupine pub, there's only The Devil's Porcupine and instead of finding the Wickford Residence I was supposed to find the Yeomford Residence. Normally you also have to ask NPC's for directions, but in DFU I can only ask for the location of the quest giver. It's completely nonsensical. Every random quest has naming and dialogue issues like that.
how do I get rid of the self glow? I hate how I light up like a christmas tree and how everything gets this white sheen up close
I haven't ever really played daggerfall, what mods would you all recommend?
DFU launcher > Enhancements > check Item based player torch
downloading now
what mods do you lads recommend?
>really impressive when it was released
Thats because the group of people who played the previous games kept shrinking with kids who never knew anything besides Oblivion or/and just Skyrim becoming the norm.
Some allies and enemies are hardcoded and others are randomized. They reroll every in-game year. You can still get in the good graces of both sides of a conflict if you do quests for them both, it just takes slightly longer than if they weren't enemies. Whenever you do a quest you gain some amount of rep for the faction who gave it to you and you gain/lose half that amount for their allies/enemies.
You also have to deal with the occasional NPC refusing to speak to you due to the fact that they're in an enemy faction, that's some % chance per NPC and you just need to find another NPC or wait 3 days for that specific guy to reset when it happens.
im 27
thanks fren
They’re working on it
Did you install any mods?
afaik tedious travel requires yo to wait for a couple of minutes to set up the first time you load a save or start a new game
Edit your save game, SaveData.txt in \AppData\LocalLow\Daggerfall Workshop\Daggerfall Unity\Saves\, you can change a value "Paralysis" to "Immune".
is there a beginner guide, or "things to know" somewhere, or is the game god enough at explaining things?
Thing like carts, skills, must have character skills/traps, etc...
go to a different state
Who do I talk to in the temple? Closest I found is cure diseases but that doesn't work.
carts are straightforward, just buy one in general store and you can access it by clicking cart button in your inventory
>must have character skills
just look up some builds online
Well hey it's kinda cheating but I really don't mind
Thanks user
Follow your heart and figure it out, most of the zoomers here have no idea what they're talking about. Just remember that magic is by no means essential and 2 - 3 weapon skills is 100% fine.
I'd rank Redguard over Battlespire honestly. Much less broken, a lot more content, and clever puzzles too. It's fun all the way through as an adventure game, but TES fans didn't want spinoffs, they wanted TES 3 and it felt like Bethesda was abandoning them with the long wait.
To its credit Battlespire's later levels are some of the best dungeons in the series, though. It could have been amazing if it was an addon to Daggerfall like originally planned instead of a standalone thing.
bumping for these
Recall and levitation are really useful spells and you can still use them without picking Mysticism or Thaumaturgy as skills.
distant terrain
enhanced sky
D.R.E.A.M (disable NPC and mob sprites, they look awful)
autosave
tedious travel
enable small dungeons in settings.ini
why are some of the interactions not working properly and why the fuck are taverns with 2 entrances always putting you at the some location indoors? this is basic shit that should've been fixed ages ago.
are long blades 2 handed or 1 handed?
also this music is fucking TOP
>get a quest to rescue some guy from a dungeon
>spend two hours interacting, punching and cursing at every wall, enemy and object i come across to see if i missed a teleport or a secret door
>give up and use the teleport to objective cheat since i was running out of time
>he was in a small room behind a locked door that was behind a locked secret door in a room right next to the entrance
This game can be a real piece of shit sometimes
Thank you user
>enable small dungeons in settings.ini
Is this working properly (ie. doesn't fuck with quests or anything)?
Do I need to start a new game for it to take effect, or will it work from this point on?
These are the mods I'm running so far:
persistent dungeons, enhanced skies, convenient clock, drafty secret doors, mountains and hills, villager immersive overhaul, and birds in daggerfall.
Shields give 4 armor rating max. Go 2hand.
If cure disease isn't working then you're probably poisoned. Temples can't cure poisoning, only potions and spells can.
However, diseases and poisons both work the same way: they lower your attributes over time and when ANY attribute reaches 0, you die. Temples can restore your attributes to full, which won't cure it but will give you more time to find something that can.
Your best bet right now is to find a potion seller. You want to use either a "Cure Poison" or a "Purification" potion. You can't buy potions from alchemists; all potion sellers in the game are members of factions and only sell to members. Your options for rank 1 are the Dark Brotherhood or the temples of Arkay, Dibella, or Zenithar. Dark Brotherhood would take too long to join so hopefully you aren't already a member of another temple and can join one of those three.
If it's not possible for you to get access to potions due to being a member of another temple, you could instead join the Mages Guild and make a "Cure Poison" spell at the spellmaker. At a low level you can probably only afford to cast ones with low chances of success, but if so just make the cheapest one you can and spam it until it works, restoring your attributes at a temple as you go to make sure you don't die.
plan on running custom spellsword
But what if he doesn't want to sell me his strongest potions?
Then he is a scoundrel with no respect for knights.
kek
They used to toss me in jail everywhere, at least now it only seem to be in Daggerfall no matter what I do...
yeah this guy is right, if you go into your character sheet and click on your health it will tell you if you're poisoned or not
>this kills the tradcuck
BASED
>How did they get away with this?
Daggerfall wasn't exactly without controversy.
web.archive.org
>And then there was the rating system, which is more black humor than anything else. Between Arena and Daggerfall, the United States Congress, led by Senator -- nearly vice-president -- Joe Lieberman, had decided that we needed to have a rating system on computer games to save the kids. I got a questionaire for Daggerfall which was obviously made for much simpler games. It asked questions like "Is there nudity in this game?" "Yes." "Is there bloodshed?" "Yes." "Can an innocent person be killed?" "Yes." "Can there be a reward for killing an innocent person?" "Yes." We got slapped with the worst rating for a game, needless to say. And later, Lieberman listed us as being one of the top ten worst corrupters of children ... Of course, I'm sure that sold a few units.
I just found a weapon with life steal on it, but I don't see a charge count.
Does it just not need charging?
Magic items don't have charge, they use up their durability. When they break they're gone forever. You can't repair magic items by any means in the original Daggerfall but maybe DFU has something similar to the cheat option that was patched in later where if you add a setting to your config file it lets them be repaired by other items with the "repairs items" enchantment. It may have that in the gameplay settings somewhere.
DFU has an option for them to be repaired like normal items
Your sape brain is not intelligent enough to comprehend the majesty of Grimoire. Dumb Sape.
Are items created with the create item spell not permanent? It says in different FAQs and web pages that I've been reading that they are but the arrows I create just disappear out of my inventory. The spell has a duration so I guess it makes sense that they would disappear, I guess this was changed for DFU?
Comfy home province? I've been jumping around to see which biomes look the best. Alik'r Desert seems the nicest.
it's literally impossible to leave some dungeons. sometimes the quest objective falls through the map. sometimes it spawns in a room with no doors half a mile underwater. if you don't want to console your way out recall is one of your options.
I settle in one of the central ones for travel time. I first travel to the most distant shitty desert province I can and take out a massive bank loan to buy a ship and a cart. I do not repay the loan. I do this in as many provinces as necessary.
DFU fixed that bug/exploit, they now only last according the duration of the spell like they were supposed to and like how the similar "bound item" spells work in the later games.
Okay in case anybody else is using tedious travel... I just tried it with a horse and it completely broke the game. Couldn't load the world and I ended up in another dimension on the other side of the world map.
That does make more sense. I was only going to use it to make arrows so no big loss.
Trying to get this running, I feel pretty retarded. I'm currently using Manjaro, so I downloaded the Linux executable and ran it with no problem. It's asking me to locate my Daggerfall folder containing "arena2" - which the official Bethesda download has. However, the Bethesda release apparently doesn't have the video files until you install the game, which I can't really do with the Windows executable. The GOG version has the same issue. Any ideas?
It does that whenever I use 60x. Shit mod, I disabled it.
You fall off the world if you go faster than your computer can load the terrain.
Disregard, I suck cocks.
>but how do i loot without equiping?
The remove button. It removes the item from the ground into your inventory. And obv does the opposite when you click an item in your inventory.
>Get a quest in Daggerfall to rid local pawn shop of monsters within one day.
>Middle of the night, skill not high enough to unlock door, wait for it to open
>Store opens, nothing is wrong. Friendly NPCs and no monsters
>Can't even talk to questgiver
A day hasn't passed, unless they meant it can't progress to the next day. Is the quest just bugged?
You gotta chill in the shop for a while.
can you increase your speed while levitating by leveling thaumaturgy? I tried to make a spell that is levitate and fortify speed but it doesn't seem to make any difference.
>using shitty morrowind models
Am I fucking myself over if I forbid Daedric material as a disadvantage? I was thinking that would suit a Paladin style character for RP.
Daedric is literally the best gear in the game, but you can get by with ebony if you need to.
yea it's kind of annoying if you get to that point, but you can just wear silver armor instead since it looks cooler and more paladin-y
also there are artifacts like ebony mail and chrysamere and stuff
