I dunno that I'd call four monsters "only a handful". That's plenty to justify it. Seltas might be a bit harder to make variations on with the same base.

It's also for the difficulty.
Bugs and crabs (and monkeys to less extent) are a pain in the ass to code, even in old games.

That's why we are still stuck with the same 2 crabs since gen 2, and in 4 games (4->4U->Gen->GU) they made a total of only 4 bugs.

The fanbase has been overrun by dumb zoomers missing the entire point of MH. We can never have a proper MH discussion again.

Here's the stuff from the interviews linked in previous threads
1. Not all flagships are in iceborne. This is flat out stated.
2. Lagi is not coming. This is flat out stated.
3. Right after saying not all flagships are coming they said they chose glav to represent both X and XX. If they had just said X, you could think, "well, that means no gammoth, mitsuzune, or astalos" but since he specifically said both X and XX, it's a soft deconfirm for Valstrax.
4. He mentions that right now marketing is a little confusing since they are doing 15th anniversary marketing and iceborne marketing at the same time. He mentions some gummies that got released with zinogre and how this led to people asking if zinogre is confirmed for iceborne. He wants to stress that 15th anniversary marketing and goods like the gummies, are just that, and not related to iceborne. Note though that he does not deconfirm zinogre in any way though.

Anyone PCfags here use mods? I was thinking of getting the light pillar for monster drops because I can't see the shit the greatest Jagras is dropping, and a damage meter so I can make sure I'm contributing, I was tempted to get something to show me if a monster is a crown because I only have about five left to go, but that's probably going overboard/cheating at that point.
Has Capcom said anything about mods?

Two reasons; insects are more difficult to rig than most vertebrate animals purely because they’re done less often than humans and other vertebrates, so there’s less experienced people with it and less good examples to go off; and secondly they’ve said that they won’t be adding skeletons that only a single monster uses because the time and resources it takes to rig it correctly has only increased as game development gets more elaborate and expensive.

They have t said that Seltas and the other inspectors monsters are gone forever though, just not to expect them in World because they wanted to get the basics down first before moving in to more complex additions. When Seltas Queen does return it will be when they have one or two other ideas for monsters using her skeleton to justify the time and money spent working on it. There’s a decent chance that bugs will return in the next game.

If you're running unga spam set then you should focus on, well, getting Focus. If you want a more classic approach, you need to fit in 4 points of Handi plus protective polish/master's touch.
Affinity aug is better for on-phial attacks, and they kinda nerfed the raw boosts affecting phials, so not sure how much you're getting out of attack aug.

It also soft-deconfirms Valstrax too. They say Glav was added to represent X and XX.
I think Zinogre and Seregios will be the last flags added to IB. Notice they’re on the bottom of the image and it fully shows off their models in a more detailed look versus the others on the top where it’s just their heads (ignoring the ones already in)

I could have sworn I read something about them saying something along the lines of visual mods being fine, just asking people don't straight up cheat by giving themselves a bunch of items and the like.
The only mods I use that aren't strictly visual are the light pillars, fixed scoutflies and Hunting Horn and food buffs actually listing their effects instead of names.

Ichihara says that the playable area in the Iceborne beta is a little less than half of the whole map in terms of story progression. I think that the cliff area where you climb up is going to be as huge as the ones we already got on the ground level

Remember that a monster not being in the expansion immediately doesn't rule out DLC inclusions.
Whilst you should expect DLC to be ones for endgame, gore is unique in that he is both a general find and later an elder dragon. It sets him up well for a chain of hunts and potentially the virus/infected monsters for more variation.

As far as I can tell, I don't think shelling ever was the actual core of GL.
It seemed like shelling was better in previous MH, as I think it dealt raw damage, and was extremely useful for breaking parts.

Invader monsters aren't part of the local ecosystem. That's why Deviljho can kick the shit out of the likes of Rathalos, Legiana, and Odogaron without taking their places as the top dog in their environment.

So I recently started up GU after playing X a long ass time ago. Ported my character over and dove right into G-rank. Enjoying the hunts well enough, but what the everloving fuck did they do to equipment balance? Weapons in particular have been arranged in such a way that there is zero reason to pursue normal weapon trees of almost any monster and instead just make one of the unique trees to get nearly 300 raw without even any monster parts and then go straight into shit like the final boss' weapons or deviant weapons. It feels so damn jarring to have weapons that require HR hyper parts be worse than stuff that requires basically no investment.

I prefer evasion, though they nerfed evasion lance in world

Ah ok, the guard point is during the loading of the Wyrmstake Blast, which can be done mid combo

I don't know how evasion is supposed to work with how tiny your hops is but I've been mainly just using counter guard for attacks so far

Guard Up is situational, google the list of unguardable attacks. For example if you do Kulve and she does the lava breath too close to you, you might not have time to sheathe and run and you can't block it without Guard Up so it may cart you.

Then would probably Tri, P3rd, and 3U
With monsters like Gobul, Qurupeco, and Gigginox that will (unfortunately) never see the light of day again

3 Ultimate has underwater combat and a bunch of monsters that either did not return or had gimped versions in future installments

Please help me, I got into MH with 3U, and I fell in love with bowguns, I mained heavy bowgun hard in 4U and Gen/XX...

But world? It made HBG to good, way to fucking good, the game is piss easy with it. The Shield is fucking broken in a game with controls this good and with how easy it is to aim compared to the other games you never miss. I heard someone say that HBG is going to get a huge nerf in MV for all shots (I hope it is) but if its not... What should I do? I also like gunlance and LBG (and pretty big fan of the HH) I'm just torn, I want to play my favorite weapon for IceBorne but I dont want the game to be TO easy.

Explosion damage is a different type of damage from Fire. That said, most sources of Explosion damage(Bombs, gunlances and the such) pair it with a small amount of Fire damage.
The exception being Blast, which straight up just deals a flat amount of Explosive damage when Blast builds up enough to actually proc.

I meant from monsters, explosions (Teostra, Brachy, Bazel, fireballs obviously, etc) can all be reduced significantly with more Fire Resist. Obviously armor factors in but armor reduces all damage, elemental resistance affects whatever is leftover.

Also, extreme behemoth is more difficult than anything in prior mainline games so I don't agree that hunters are overpowered.

Capcom getting rid of loading screens, streamlining the item management, and not splitting the villages into 5 was probably the best thing to ever happen to this series. That's almost 60 hours saved.

It honestly feels weird to me that folks tend to complain more about Luna than Kush. I've had some cheap deaths and group wipes courtesy of Lunastra, but nothing infuriates me more than fucking Kushala Daora. Just an unfun piece of shit through and through no matter what weapon I'm using or even while running the 3-pc Kush set bonus. When I was ready to tackle AT Kush, I took my tickets and am glad to never play through that fight again.

Cluster bombs ignore hitzone values so as long as you get safe openings it's bombable.
Vaal is probably the easiest target there, the others are relatively fast.

You can stop wind pressure with rocksteady if you don't feel like getting the skill. Waiting for him to get out of the air is annoying, but not difficult, he doesn't have a single threatening air move.

I lanced AT Kush and it was fun except for ledges ruining sidesteps, blocks and turning.

with gunner you're basically subjected to OHKO no matter what set unless you go HBG Spread with shield. Everything else is just asking for trouble

If you're still having trouble with Anjanath, just get a water weapon or SOS and hopefully a helpful hunter will show up.

Be careful when he leaves to another area while still having fire-snot-breath-whatever, because he WILL snipe you with the fire blast as soon as you enter the area. And yes it goes through walls, as I learned the hard way.

Anjanath's fire breath reminds me of Teostra's supernova. Near instant with little time to react to the tells. At this point, just be cautious whenever you see Anja heat up his throat.
