is this a good game? i played it for a while, broke out if the vault and explored but it seems kinda boring to me. Half of the time you are just choosing what to say plus the combat is horrible and the graphics are way outdated. Is it worth it?

combat is kinda icky but otherwise yes, it's the best Fallout game.
no.
Yeah its great, if youve never played a Bethesda style game it can seem a bit overwhelming at first and modern contrarians will tell you its complete shit but imo its one of the best western RPGS ever
It’s an exploration sandbox game that was great for it’s time, but hasn’t aged well. It’s still good, but it has some obvious faults.
I also wouldn’t ask Yea Forums for unbiased opinions on this game since Yea Forums is filled with New Vegas fanboys who think FO3 is one of the worst games ever.
It was a very good game back in the day, story is well built, you can ignore the main quest ,and I enjoyed collecting those caps. I really liked the combat ,but it's not your mainstream fps style .you clearly did not play the first games before this one .but I prefer new vegas over this
Try NV first. It will guide you far more so you don't get confused . Once you get the hang of things go back to 3.
It's decent post-Morrowind Elder Scrolls game, maybe even the best (not including Morrowind).
It's better than new reddit that's for sure.
its a fun action RPG game, exploring is fun.
>New Vegas fanboys who think FO3 is one of the worst games ever.
to be fair I thought that of 3 before NV released, I just can't stand the cringey writing and buggy combat
Calling it the worst is extreme though. There are merits to be found in the exploration and dungeon design.
Unlike Fallout 4 it is worth a play though
>exploration
It's been a LONG time since I played it, but I don't remember anything particularly noteworthy about exploration. I was giddy about getting to the D.C ruins and of course, I was presented with rubble and tunnel workarounds
>dungeon design
Hmm maybe, too long since I played it like I said.
Might boot it up again because I only played the base game and BoS expansion, hated both but I was excited about playing that swamp expansion, made a mistake and started the alien expansion first, couldn't bother going through it and just dropped the game altogether there and then
FO4 was defo more fun than 3
FO3 is the “shoot and loot” formula perfected. Which is ironic since it’s possible to do a pacifist build. You want to explore to find more junk to collect and Bethesda’s approach to quest design pre-FO4 means that you often run into quests while doing other quests. That’s what makes the game hard to put down.
I could see how if it was your first fallout game it might be hard to go back but it had a really gay skill tree thing, was too easy, no ammo conservation (which makes sense cuz the year was closer to the apocalypse, they wasted time and added gay shit like building a SIMS vault, completely ruined power armour, had really gay quests.
it has horrible dialogue, boring characters expect for 2 or 3 memorable ones, and horrible world design
3 is more interesting in all those aspects and more
agreed
It's definitely one of my favorite games. I don't think it aged well at all though.
3 would be indisputably the best in the series gameplay and design wise if it had some kind of rebalancing mod that made the game harder. As it stands, the only way to make the game even remotely challenging is through self-imposed challenge runs.
its strengths is exploration and sidequests. seeing how yo say
>Half of the time you are just choosing what to say plus the combat is horrible
this might not be a game for you
It's a great game with a rocky start. Keep with it and you won't regret it
4's companions are more interesting than literally any character in 3. Far Harbor is better written than anything in 3 too.
