What makes a game an rpg?

Skyrim 2
Mass Effect 4
Evencile

That's a lot of games

Numbers.
The bigger and more meaningless the better.

But that's the best part

Generally, any game that lets you design your own character and shape it is usually considered an RPG. Also very good if your get to make choices that affects the outcome of the story which implies that you can pick your own personality/morality.

The term "role-playing game" makes little sense since basically any game in which you are referred to by the game characters would be you role-playing as you take on the role of another person and play as them. But then almost every game ever made would be an RPG.

Divinity original sin 2 is a good one for video games

>Gygax invents the tabletop RPG by taking autistic dice rolling number crunching “gameplay” from tabletop wargames and adding actual characters and context, aka playing a role
>programmers in the 80s try to recreate d&d on the computer but all the computer can really handle is the autistic numbers
>dumbass “gamers” think autistic number shit is “rpg elements” for decades

There are almost no true video RPGs. Even the games that try to pay homage to actual rpg elements instead of just wargame elements are basic as fuck

wargames > rpgs

Are you of the opinion that you're the only person I can ask and that's why you're acting like this, sense-of-superiority senpai? You're not delivering mystic knowledge by pointing out the obvious like every other sperg that thinks they have one over on another person. Protip: the reason you think you have an advantage is because you were once too stupid to figure this out on your own. Meanwhile I'm just trying to make conversation. Protip #2: just because you were bullied in school doesn't mean being a cunt is normal, so stop trying to emulate normal people by being uppity.
