It is the official fighting game of dumb mashers and a small minority of complete autists who learned frame data for five thousand moves and labbed out how to fuzzy block like two hundred strings. It's the most rage inducing fighting game because stupid gimmicks remain strong up until the very highest echelons of play.
SFV, Under Night, Mortal Kombat (yes MK is better than Tekken), DBFZ, or Smash Ultimate (who gives a shit whether it's a fighting game, it's fun, easy to get into, and very active). You could also play old stuff on Fightcade
If you're a beginner and you want to learn traditional 2D fighters I recommend SFV, the online is populated thanks to cross play and it is very basic and easy to learn
Ethan Scott
I'll just go play Samsho.
Lincoln Davis
Samurai Shodown was always a side game that people screwed around in. It has very little depth, and the new title is kind of clunky and it has a boatload of more specific problems.
Don't play SamSho. Just don't do it.
Julian Flores
>the new title is kind of clunky and it has a boatload of more specific problems. Who said I was going to play the new game? 5sp it is.
>Begging people to not play a game he doesn't like How pathetic
Eli Hill
What a stupid post.
>stupid gimmicks remain strong up until the very highest echelons of play This is true, though.
Christopher Kelly
It's literally both
Casual players can mash random shit and combos and mix up strings will come out because there's so many moves. High level players can deal with the mashing and the mix up strings, and they play a very precise spacing game where they twitch around and use only a tiny subset of any character's moves.
Most players aren't high level players, ie most Tekken enthusiasts on the internet are either mashers or they're trying to improve in an ocean of mashers.
Hudson Reyes
So there's a very low skill floor and an absurdly high skill ceiling. Isn't that like the dream of every competitive game?
Caleb Allen
No because it takes a Herculean effort before you overcome all the dumb gimmicks.
Charles Sanders
There have literally never been more options for dealing with mashing than you're given in Tekken. Throws are unbreakable if the person inputs the wrong break, beating mashers. There are hyper armor moves and low parries, if you know they're mashing you can literally just shut them the fuck down. Fuck, even consistent jabs will beat a masher since you'll be landing hits first while they're inevitably whiffing or getting blocked unsafely. You don't need to be "autistic" to understand the flow of defense and retaliation, and if someone is really mashing there is so much you can do at a basic level to fuck them over.
Please do keep in mind that unlike in other fighters, in tekken the standing/crouching blocking rule is reversed. I'm thinking this might be what's getting you fucked by aggressive players since you seem to be more keen on other fighters. You always want to block standing unless you know a low is coming, a lot of nasty shit can hit you while crouching that when blocked standing can be punished.
Carter Allen
So basically you just suck
Ian Cox
If you don't want to put in the effort then you can play another fighting game. Not everyone wants games to be made easier. Some people enjoy challenge.
Samuel Clark
>playing any fighting game besides 3rd strike seriously
Brandon Cooper
t. Emperor level Eddy players
Good post and I wish I could reply in a suitable way but I have to go to work. Sorry man
Jonathan Lee
btw you're a dumb poseur who plays no games at all
Jack Morris
>gets btfo Uh gotta go guys
David Jackson
>can't get out of green ranks >come to Yea Forums to complain like clockwork
James Butler
Please dont use my wife to shitpost
Isaac Baker
I thought you had to go to work. Also hit me up on fightcade :^)
Christopher Campbell
>another person who is mad that Lili isn't top tier and loses cause he doesn't win instantly Like fucking clockwork
Imagine being this fucking bad at fighting games that you think this. Filtered and saged.
Logan Reed
I do feel bad for people stuck in a scrub mentality like this. Don't blame the game and look inward for what the problem is. Like yeah there's goofy stuff in Tekken that you just have to figure out how to deal with, but most things that are difficult to learn (like a new language or an instrument) are filled with that too.
Lucas Rivera
OP you better fucking come back on your break and respond properly.
Aiden Rogers
I think part of that boils down to the sheer number of legacy moves in Tekken. Newcomers simply go in and think they need to memorize every single one of them, skip figuring out what the good-to-remember moves are, and resort to mashing. The game could do with a better in-game tutorial of some sort, but there is plenty of material online to help you learn anyway.
