I've played enough of both of these fucking things to know that nerds just regurgitate whatever they've grown up with no matter where the fuck their from. The only thing that's changed is the graphics and streamlining the gameplay for a broader audience.

Why do people still bother warring between JRPGs and WRPGs? They're extremely different and share little except for some basic elements like questlines and an overarching quest. Most WRPGs and JRPGs don't even share the same type of combat composition, and I'm not talking about turn-based vs not.
They usually don't even appeal to the same type of audience (with the exception of the aforementioned crawlers) so I don't even know how you bastards keep running into each other and fighting, what the fuck. Is it just because they have "RPG" in them? Because goddamn I wish there was another word for it then, like a story game or something.
James Hernandez

What the hell are you on about? Old Japanese nerds loved and played the hell out of Ultima and that lead to the birth of Dragonquest. The first SMT was similar to Wizardry 7.
The two inspire each other through out history. Just look at Undertale being inspired by Mother, Travis Strikes Again having gameplay inspired by Hotline Miami , PT inspiring millions of indie devs, Outlast inspiring Resident Evil 7, it just goes on.
There's no way anyone can't compare the two.
Kevin Jones
WRPG are just so much better than JRPGs. WRPGs at their best are stories that tackle human nature and philosophical concepts whereas JRPGs at their best are teen drama sprinkled with some pseudo philosophical bullshit that is only there to stroke some autists ego and self importance

There's more differences than similarities, and most of the games you listed are not RPGs.
Then why not just make a WRPG thread? Sperging out on some random jarpig fan isn't going to make them change their mind and suddenly like WRPGs.
Isaiah Parker
>old as fuck games

Don't get nitpicky but I gotchu anyway: Skyrim and Breath of the Wild. Dragons Dogma was practically an homage to all things WRPG. Dark Souls gameplay inspiring other game creators to have similar combat systems, Witcher 3 even took a few pages from it (though failed).
>There's more differences than similarities
That depends on what you think personally. Just because they're not exact copies of one and another doesn't mean there isn't similarities. Give me an example.

I will say BotW is comparable, but I've NEVER seen it used in a WRPG/JRPG thread like these. I'm not even going to touch Dark Souls considering all the stupid shit I see any mention of it spark in east vs west discussions. Never looked at DD. At most when people use BotW it's in comparison for the sole sake of consolewarring, not this stuff.
What I was initially referring to was typical party composition (outside of the mentioned stuff) was simply that in most modern WRPGs, one is self-sufficient, without a defined party. Sure you can hire people, and allies exist, or even companions, but it's very different from the party style of a typical JRPG, which has roughly 3-5 members that all fight as a team in most instances.
Idk why you replied to me again with the exact same examples but alright. I won't be nitpicky if you make your shit thread with games that fit your criteria. Compare Dark Souls and Planetscape and make a thread about it, instead of comparing P5 to a bethesda game. Also you pointed out the huge point I had at the end of my post. Why the fuck are you bastards fighting about this shit when it's not even stuff that has an overlapping audience? P5 and a grim post-apocalyptic nuclear wasteland? A child trying to articulate feelings of love being compared to one spouting a religious spiel?
Why not compare the writing of Ultima like you said before with the writing of a more text-heavy non-localized JRPG from a similar era?
Anyway got way off track, no one criticized the writing of those. People shit on stuff like Tales games, MegaTen, or Pokemon, those are the typical stuff. People use Planetscape and ES to compare to games like that.

Do you experience consistent love for your brother, mother, father, your son?
How is it hard to imagine experiencing constant love for your wife? Unless you don't give a single fuck about your relatives and never make them feel nice or do anything good for them, in which case I can imagine.
Stable relationship is like living with a loving relative, who is also hot and wants to have sex with you. Eventually you get old but by that point you have a whole generation of kids and warmth from knowing that you did well in life and have a special somebody to die together with.
And no this isn't new, I knew my great grandparents and their relationship was magical, they could literally die for each other and that was commonplace here. Husbands would literally kill for their wife and a wife would literally die for her husband.
Jack Johnson

That 3-5 members came from Wizardry too. Balders Gate, Planescape Torment, Icewinddale, the new Divinity 1 and 2, and even Dragon age Origins, these games you have to have party members. It's where the whole "You must gather your party before venturing forth" comes from.
The rest of your text reads like you're agreeing with me that we shouldn't compare writing that's meant for children vs one for adults. But you're still mistaking me for Op.

Not even kidding. Graham is one of my favorite fictional characters ever. The man is absolutely based.
Kayden Lopez
Yes user, I know that it came from Wizardry, I already mentioned that JRPGs are basically almost entirely based on Wizardry, hence why I excluded it. The ones you listed aren't exactly the same thing, it's more of a self-contained cast utilized as a way to bring the same story units to different sectors of the story in the game.
Anyway if you weren't even interested in the OP's shitty copypaste thread and you're one of the few who actually enjoy the games instead of making like the rest of this thread why are you even here? I just wished to express that JRPGs and WRPGs are fundamentally different games to the point that they usually have a completely different audience and that there's relatively little reason to fight over them, and that these threads are always just retarded repeats of the same shitty "here's a simple quote on one side and a large quote on the other" images with little substance. What I guess I meant to say was just fuck copypasted template threads, if they wanted a WRPG thread they should have just made one normally. The "only bait OPs get replies" method doesn't always actually work in the thread's favor.
Ethan Flores
I couldn't stand how the game treats you like a tard who can't follow a single cutscene

>If a character sperged out about how they couldn't believe thing, they'll still during the texting go on about how they can't believe thing happened
>basically reenacting the scene beat for beat through text messages
How fucking braindead are nips that the devs felt it necessary to show the same scene twice, one as a actual scene and another of them repeating it via fucking text messages?
Jackson Jenkins

Why is it okay when Japan makes movie games?
Homest Hearts. A lot of people didn't like the dlc overall it seems but I personally loved the setting and characters, Graham is so fucking based.
>How about I find dear Daniel and shake the information out of him?
>There are many reasons why that would be a bad idea. I will illuminate three.
>First, do not believe that because Daniel is a missionary he is incapable of or unwilling to defend himself.
>Second, if you harm Daniel or any of the Sorrows or Dead Horses, I will find you. Make no mistake. God willing, you will not leave this valley.
>Lastly, waging war against good people is bad for the soul. This may not seem important to you now, but it's the most important thing I've said.
Gavin Garcia
Not him and not sure about the latter but I think the dlc is intended for about level 10-15, but you can do it anytime. I typically do it around the time I reach freeside as part of "gathering caps to enter the strip". I did also use a mod to make him look better and more like hes actually burnt and one to make him a companion when it's over.
Zachary Cooper
Those scenes are usually one after the other though, that's my point. Its excessive because it seems to happen after every scene of the thieves just talking about their next move or whatever.
Anthony Adams
Old World Blues if you want something that's genuinely funny instead of BULL BEAR every 2 fucking seconds shit that puts you to sleep
Julian Mitchell
Yes, that's correct. However it's like comparing an eroge to Theresia as having some sort of point of contention because they both have visual novel elements. It's not really going to share the same audience and the comparison is just poorly done and in a shitty format for replies.
Mason Ross
>self-contained cast utilized as a way to bring the same story units to different sectors of the story in the game
That's not entirely true. In the games I've listed they have more than just a few set characters like in Tales or Persona, they have characters based on alignment of good or bad. You don't have to use or play with these characters. You can even kill them if you want. But in most Jrpgs you're given party members as you progress through the story and you can switch them out and do different combinations but you will always have them unless the story either kills them off or they leave the party for some reason.
>Anyway if you weren't even interested in the OP's shitty copypaste thread and you're one of the few who actually enjoy the games instead of making like the rest of this thread why are you even here?
Sounds like the same reason as you. And I don't really think it's bad to compare the two if there are people who enjoy both types of games. It's just that most threads on Yea Forums end up being this way.

I just realized that if the world went to war over depleted resources and everyone got nuked, wouldn't it be impossible to recover? Nature would grow back after a few centuries, but what about oil, gas, and coal? Even if the whole Fallout world banded together in peace, they'd have to use their remaining resources to potentially leave the solar system unless one of our planets somehow still has and non-renewable resources left. So basically no matter what you do in Fallout, humanity's significance in the universe has ended. The Fallout world has to wait for aliens to help them.
Aaron Howard
I was referring to JRPGs with the first point, not your examples.
Perhaps, but only if it really makes sense as an equivalent comparison, like the ones you outlined, e.g. BotW and Skyrim. No one should take an image like the OP seriously, and people tend to just try and infantilize or otherwise put down the other in an unfitting comparison for the other side in an attempt to make theirs look more credible. Anyway you seem alright, good talking with you user. Peace out, it's 4am.
Dylan Taylor
>What is solar and wind?

You could have posted something Joshua Graham himself says rather than just a straight up bible quote, even if it's one he uses. Like
>First, do not believe that because Daniel is a missionary he is incapable of or unwilling to defend himself.
>Second, if you harm Daniel or any of the Sorrows or Dead Horses, I will find you. Make no mistake. God willing, you will not leave this valley.
>Lastly, waging war against good people is bad for the soul. This may not seem important to you now, but it's the most important thing I've said.

Mason Russell
>Nature would grow back after a few centuries
Nature would come back hard and real fast. Almost all infrastructure would be unusable in the space of 50 years.
>Even if the whole Fallout world banded together in peace, they'd have to use their remaining resources to potentially leave the solar system unless one of our planets somehow
Behaviour for scenarios like this would trend towards the path of least resistance. It would be absurd to mount a generational seed ship or a terraforming mission. We can't figure out how to terraform mars now in 2019, a post apocalypse world would certainly not have the wherewithall. Society would likely go back to Wild West levels of technology, with the horse being the most valueable technology in the world and everything can be locally sources, nothing close to an electrical grid or highways that connect two separate communities.
Henry Harris
Graham is in honest hearts user.
Charles Rivera

>Sincere, direct, emotionally honest

Solar and wind doesn't advance you to the next stage of civilization. The point is humanity is literally forever stagnant in Fallout to the point where if they want to be on the level of society of modern day Earth or higher, they would need literal aliens from space to help them do it because they won't have the non-renewable resources to do anything. Decaying plants and animals takes millions of years to cultivate into oil, coal, and gas, and the lore is they ran extremely low of it all over the planet thus the war.
>Society would likely go back to Wild West levels of technology

>no non-renewable resources
And there is no possible option for using renewables to advance technology? Dieter Rams' rules of invention state there is no end to ingenuity. I agree. In a world where coal and oil are gone by 2077, by the year 2300 or 2400, mankind could easily have harnessed wind, and biofuel (dead plant matter) or geothermal perhaps. Hell in New Vegas they used hyddro electric from Hoover Dam.
As for central heating and complex machinery, you would have to either have it reliant on a hydro-grid like trams and electric trains (which exist today and are often green powered). Shit, they had electric taxis in NYC in the 1900s and they were charged nightly off the grid.
Also, why would Uranium be depleted? It would take 10,000s of years to make uranium useless. And we haven't excavated all teh uranium reserves yet. You could get to a 2nd Industrial revolution state without oil and coal.

For the sake of argument, lets say that the knowledge of how to build and maintain solar or wind power is already available.
How do you get the materials to the sites where you plan to build the facilities?
By vehicle? Well shit what about that gas shortage huh?
What about the equipment you will need to build the equipment thats going to provide power?
Are they running on electricity?
