The gameplay is so-so but it touches things no other FPS games do like Polish and Canadian involvement. Also, meeting Major Ingram again is cool.

as much as I liked it for featuring the Polish and Canadian campaigns (I think this is the only WW2 shooter that has them in any capacity) I cannot get over the fact the gameplay itself is awful

Don't bother playing Allied Assault. People will tell you to play it based off memories of 2003, but it's such a bad game. The multiplayer might have been fun but no, the singleplayer is really really bad. Just skip those.

I play through it every few years and it's still good. It's definitely dated (more than CoD1), but it's not just nostalgia (at least in my case). I truly consider it an important and good game.
