Nothing.

This game still looks gorgeous to me.

Nothing, we've had several threads since February & this board always rate it highly (See Win/Loss Percentage)

Nothing you dumb gay retard

Fuck off Dobson.

It's a pretty cool game. If anything went wrong it was the GameCube controller for this kind of game and it was still totally servicable.

Quite literally nothing. I still remember fondly the first time landing on Tallon IV, the soundtrack still gives me chills and the game also pulled off a fantastic way to tell a story giving you control over the lore. Only ng+ and a 4k remake could make this game any better.

This game is sci-fi porn. It's criminal that we get stuff like triforce heroes and the new super Mario bros series instead of a proper Metroid.

The only wrong is that it was just too perfect and nothing else could ever top it.

absolute fucking soul

It was a little too linear for a Metroid game.

My expectations. I went into the game expecting to hate it, because I didn't think the Metroid formula could work in 3D. I was wrong.

>literally just a 3d copy of super metroid
>no dualstick controls
>backtracking
>REALLY bad backtracking with artifact keys for impact crater before ridley fight
>phazon mines
woooow

>I still remember fondly the first time landing on Tallon IV, the soundtrack still gives me chills
are you me?

Art direction will go a long fucking way compared to photorealistic texturing.

Terrible game for contrarians

Woah yeah guys, let's share that one memory that only we have from a game that sold 2.8 million copies on release and has had a storied legacy in the decades to come

so close to perfection.

if only Samus wasn't human.

>This thread again
Fuck off OP. If you want to discuss the flaws, that's fine. But to imply that its a bad game is just moronic. Just because the Super Metroid vs Prime debate is still raging doesn't mean either game is bad, in fact they're both phenomenal games that absolutely nail what they're attempting to do.
Prime(1) is legitimately great. I just replayed it a few weeks ago and enjoyed it much more than I did as a kid.

doesn't have shit on MP2

>light/dark worlds mean half the areas and two versions of the same maps, one being slightly worse
>portals are inconveniently located, sometimes leading to backtracking twice just to get a single item
>save points have no logical placement and are way too sparse
>pats itself on the back for doing something different but luminoth are literally chozo clones
>dark samus comprises 75% of the boss fights
>godawful gimmicky bosses like the spider ball guardian and the drone protecting the power bomb
>new beams are less satisfying
>unnecessary difficulty spikes
>the entire game is a fetch quest for keys
>just when you think you're done, you have to find NINE more keys but they're invisible without a specific visor and the "hints" are just locations of dead bodies with slightly less obscure "hints" that are still completely unhelpful
>rather than instantly showing you the next question mark to investigate on your map after acquiring a power up or completing an objective, the game lets you wonder around like a dipshit for half an hour before throwing you a bone

luckily MP3 was a nice return to form (and a lot more fun)

>slow
>dragged out combat
>Zelda puzzle solving
>Artifact Hunt
>Scanning for 100%
>weakened Metroids
>questionable decision to change the Space Pirates' designs
>tank controls
>beam switching
>Magmoor Caverns
>new suits don't give you defense benefits
>beams work very differently along with other upgrades
>locking players in the same room sometimes to kill enemies
It wasn't bad, it was a great change for the Metroid series but there were things wrong with it.

>Metroid Prime comes out
>everybody buys it because of marketing and brand recognition
>after playing it, sales of the Metroid series immediately fall of a cliff
Hmm...

>Playing MP for the first time this year
>Had the chance to kill a Zoomer
Felt good

>Prime 4

Attached: 1428462097468.jpg (229x250, 14K)

>tfw replaying metroid prime for the first time in years
>tfw forgot the item order completely
>tfw almost getting to experience the game for the first time all over again
feels fucking comfy, man

So is that shit coming out any time soon on the switch or can I just emulate it now?

metroid games are to complex for nintendo users

>we want the halo audience
nintendo desperate for dudebrobux

>metroid games are to complex for nintendo users
Such...complexity...

Thanks now I have to replay the entire trilogy

All your criticism is valid.
However, MP2 is still easily the best of the three.
The biggest problem with it is the taking damage in the dark world, and getting a powerup that doesn't stop you from taking damage there, just makes you take LESS damage there.

I cannot comprehend the mindset of people that want dualstick controls on the GameCube.
It would be beyond awful.

gamecube tech demo
looked good in trailers
no one actually played it
most of my friends got stuck before you get the boost ball / jump boots / wave beam

>It would be beyond awful.
As opposed to having tank controls, not even having proper camera control, and not even having to aim because of lock-on (thus defeating the whole point of being an FPS)?

Dual stick would be a vast improvement.

wiimote and free aim will always be the best way to play though, even if it's not as precise and responsive

I like my GCN controls too much

>that third video
so Parasite Queen's beat was basically written by some rando from the UK and stuffed into an obscure stock-sounds CD?

/thread

I can explain Zero Mission and Samus Returns, they were released late into the GBA's and 3DS's lifetime mixed with the fact that they were only remakes to Metroid and Metroid II and not new Metroid games that push the story passed Fusion. Prime 2, 3, and Hunters is most likely the novelty on the Prime series wearing off, Federation Force was shit, Other M was pure horseshit. We don't know what will happen with Prime 4 but Metroid 5 should definitely be fine.

BASED user, i love researching production of vidya tracks to learn how to make music better. Earthbounds production tricks are also really neat.

I think it's because back in the days, you had much less choice for Sci-fi games.

Imagine this remastered.
