"Having once made the statement above, I have declined all opportunities to enlarge upon it or defend it. That seemed to be a fool's errand, especially given the volume of messages I receive urging me to play this game or that and recant the error of my ways. Nevertheless, I remain convinced that in principle, video games cannot be art. Perhaps it is foolish of me to say "never," because never, as Alex Martins informs us, is a long, long time. Let me just say that no video gamer now living will survive long enough to experience the medium as an art form."

Venom Snake is Big Boss.
Wasn't Bill Clinton on his inaugural address?
I'm on board with you user, but you only know Clint Eastwood for his westerns, as judging by the picture you used.
That's retard logic if I ever saw it
The Good/The Bad/The Ugly is pretenious garbage & most people who claim to like it never even watched it
I watched it and it's fantastic. Tuco is a very animated and fun character and is great when paired with Blondie who is more a stoic but still has a sense of humor.
Also u're gay
I'm really just waiting to get the right VHS for the movie, since they changed the sounds and shit like that. Why can't companies just release the original mono's, they'd make a shit ton more money?
The definition of art is pretty imprecise. Who cares.
I'm going to judge him because le image due to the amount of fucking shit this website has to offer, but its a breath of fresh air to see an actual thread that's not spread with fucking weeb/furry/brony/lgbt trash.
muh moral purity brrrrrrother
>Video games will never be a "real" art form
>Why do you say that?
>shut up I don't have to explain
Wow. Fucking master debater over here
>90 years old man is out of touch and prejudiced against new technologies.
Well, what an unexpected development.
How can Clint be so based
He's also a director and a better judge of art than you
Pretty sure that quote is from Roger Ebert, not Clint Eastwood.
Eastwood never said that.
He did say it
>appeal to authority
Who are you quoting?
No, he has a narrow view of art because he's out of touch and prejudiced against new technologies. He's good at the art he grew up with.
So are the Big Bosses in the previous MGS games all the same character, or are some of them Venom Snake as well? I never played 5.
>he's old therefore dumb
lol
Not your arguments apparently.
I almost agree. But RDR2, MGS3 and SH2 are all legitimately great pieces of art. I understand what hes saying though. There's 60+ years of gaming and i can think of like 3 games.
Please teach me how to be an internet though guy like you.
I now this phrase gets thrown around a lot but you have legitimately bad taste.
>"Please teach me how to be an internet though guy like you."
Well first, you speak fucking English.
Gatekeeping the word 'art' is just another way to think you're better than others. It's a complete waste of time.
Generally artists, someone like Clint, haven't reached the creative part of applied sciences, they've only experienced grade school teachers trying to teach the quadratic formula.
I mean think about it, during the Renaissance applied math and art were completely related. All math is an abstraction that performs a measurement that would otherwise be very tedious to do in real life. Math and abstraction can create much more complicated art than would otherwise be possible.
OUATITW > Dollars trilogy
Also for dollars it goes 2 > 3 >>> 1.
>2 above 3
Lol no
Who the fuck is Clint Eastwood? Why should I care about some old baby boomer have to say?
Why the fuck are not recognizing this quote and thinking it came from Clint Eastwood?
>baby boomer
>born 1930
bruh
Super Mario 64 convinced Gabe Newell that vidya can be art.
If movies aren't art then neither is film. They are equal.
nice try and ijkjjk
There's two types of people in this world, those with valid opinions and those who dig.
You dig.
it could be a long hill battle and khjkj
Is this what he said to that chair?
He's wrong about a lot of things.
you telling me this isnt art?
youtube.com
the big boss boss fight in metal gear 1 is venom snake
He thinks a movie about a hundred year old drug dealer is art.
But a game about stacking blocks on other blocks is art, right?
