Pretty much every main character gets his/her own canon ship throughout the show. Lisanna gets BTFO of being with Natsu in one of the arcs and accepts it. Only character I can think of that doesn't have a romantic interest is Wendy.

I prefer RomeoxWendy but it's kind of funny how they almost never interact throughout the series. I think she actually forgets his name in the zombie special.

it started off okay but then turns into a generic mess.

Natsu is the most cringiest shonen protongonist ever made

im watching this right now and it's really enjoyable. it's a shame that it becomes boring rinse and repeat shenanigans later on though, but i'll keep going until it leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I never got this show, it felt like a discount One Piece with none of the charm.
I've tried asking some of the fans to show me some big fightclips but none of them really gave me the same catharsis as gaara vs lee, ichigo vs byakuya or luffy vs any arc boss.
What's the appeal?

It peaks at the tower of heaven Arc. It makes you think "Oh yeah everything I just watched was world building so we can focus on this "Zariff" guy who sounds like Dark Sorcery God". It's especially apparent because so many characters are tied to the Tower of Heaven arc in their pasts.

But no, once that arc ends it all goes to fucking shit, because Hiro Mashima was just winging it every two weeks.
You get convoluted messes of bullshit and he has no qualms with utterly fucking over prior arcs or throwing away concepts.
The Tower of Heaven Arc gets ass rapped because it's linked to an illusion by Grey's Teacher"s Daughter (this is overall a pointless factoid anyway) meaning the big Bads initial build up is entirely a lie. This is done because Mashima decided he had a "better idea" of what to make the primary villain later on (it's a fucking mess anyway), so the shows best arc is actually a waste of time and devaluing the drama that was generated by it being a central aspect to multiple characters.

Another great example is how he basically introduces three "types" or "generations" of Dragon Slayer because he very clearly couldn't decide what he wanted for the mage-type. The second type exists because "yeah nah, I regret making this character a TRUE dragon slayer, I accidentally devalued Dragon Slayers by making too many of them" and the Third type existed for edge factor but he later retconns them into being "first type but with a small power up" because they didn't fit with his final draft on the Dragon Slayer mystery.

I know it's Shonen shit, but no one should be that fucking bad. Hiro is the Blizzard of Shonen Manga if that makes sense.

I think fire force is a pretty cool anime but the fanservice drags it down

It's only good fight is Natsu Vs. Jellal and only because of Natsu basically scarfs down the magic equivalent of a nuclear power rod and manages to power up with it rather than die.
Sure this has happened plenty of times in Shonen, but usually its some dumb lengthily explained artifact or some shit. In this case, it was just the magic storing crystal they were fighting on and you didn't expect it to happen.

Has the cat girl been introduced yet? She is the biggest waste of space I've seen yet, anytime she's about to actually fight she just gets naked instead and does nothing. She even comments on it, but everyone else just goes "nah you are totally not useless"

The fanservice was the series' biggest draws. Hell, one of the main characters' quirks was that he gets naked almost all the time. Good thing the story was decent enough to last as long as it did because it if didn't, it would've been cancelled a long time ago.
