I picked Flayn since she had around 30 charisma and about 15 STR/MAG at level 18. I probably got unlucky on the level ups but seeing as she already knows white magic and had otherwise shit stats a dancer was a natural fit. IMO just pick anyone like that. Winning the competition isn't very important, you still get the class even if you lose.
