While EoH isn't a good fighting game it is a good jojo game

Instead of small levels like most hack and slashes, larger environments where you can explore a little and have to sneakily find out who you're fighting and why

get some stylish beatdowns in there too, and make the story as absurd as possible

finally, pull in some characters that just stopped appearing or something, and make a hub where other players can pop up occasionally for some silly goofing off inbetween story beats

You play as an OC. The villain is an OC too. He has a stand that allows him to freely travel through time and space.As you two fight, he travels to somewhere unknown, and your stand allows you to follow him.
So the game takes place as you chase said villain. He will travel through each of the parts and start fucking with things around, changing the original events and giving unfair advantages to one of the parties, so you'll have to fight both the protagonists and the antagonists to proceed. By the time you reach the villain you'll have played through all parts.

RPG with an unconventional battle system, which relies more on using your stand creatively instead of numbers and rolls. Like 7th stand user but without the combat focus, the battles are more puzzle oriented that require thinking creative solutions with the tools you have. Have like 5 stands so each stand has unique paths/situations/ways to solve the puzzles.

I'm nearly done watching part 5.
Already read past that, and up to Jojolion. Part 6-8 are utter shit.
Part 4 and 5 are meme tier.
Part 1 and 2 are too raw.
Part 3 is perfection.

A) Literally just take ASB, speed up the gameplay and increase the damage output, add a bunch of new characters and have it run at 60fps. ASB had potential and nailed the aesthetic but was way too slow. Still mad that CC2 threw it away in favor of a shitty arena fighter.
B) An X-Com style strategy game. Hear me out; different characters have different Stand abilities that can interact with the environment and enemies to set up combos. For instance you can have The Hand pull an enemy into range to trigger a punch ghost's auto attack.

Obviously Arc Sys seems perfect because of their graphic engine but that graphic engine is exactly why arc sys isn't good for it. Every character costs a ton of time and effort to make under their technique and a Jojo game can't work with a small roster unless you focus on a specific part.

I always thought jojo would be more suitable as a puzzle game than a fighter. Half the fights barely involve fighting things directly.

Complete and total spinoff from the manga, where the player is a stand-using detective that recently moved to a new city, who winds up solving nothing but cases relating to stand users and a great conspiracy.
Half of the enjoyment in the JoJo series and shonen anime in general is the authors having to consistently explore new design space for posers and abilities to have interesting fights without repeating the same thing over and over, allowing for the main character to show that they understand and have mastered their own strengths. JoJo does so well because, most of the time, the fights aren't won by asspulls of new powers from the main cast (pic related), just creative use of their abilities.

If you want to tie it more closely to the manga, the player is working for the Speedwagon Foundation, but I think it would be much better for the main character to not know right away that everything would be a stand power and assume as such. Could even mess with the detective game genre a bit by having to forge the case/evidence to make sure the actual criminal stand users gets justice for their crime, as most stands don't really leave solid evidence. A game about not just solving the case, but solving how to present the case to your superiors and keep the job.

Turn-based RPG where you create your original character and stand from scratch. As far as custom stand creation goes, some presets and balancing guidelines are there, but you make your stand by "coding" it in. The game lets you create most autistically specific or incomprehensible stands you can come up with. The engine has to have some level of detail and simulation for you to play around with.

The best way to capture what makes JoJo so great is to make it a game about outwitting each other. I like JoJo because it avoids all the powerscaling bullshit because most of the time its just one persons ability vs the other persons ability and you they use their smarts to outwit each other. I'm not sure what mechanics you would use to do something like this but if someone was able to capture that feeling of outsmarting someone in a game then I think JoJo would be sweet

It's called burnout. Araki wanted to keep making jojo but was tired of the direction it was going. So he just essentially rebooted it. I honestly think that's why Part 7 is the best part. An experienced Araki + a blank canvas to work with.

7's got the best story but I struggle to call it the best part. doesn't help that most of the stands are pretty meh. only ones I really liked were Scary Monsters, Catch the Rainbow and I guess Tusk.
Personally I prefer part 4. I think a mixture of lowered stakes, a general lack of connection to the rest of the franchise around it (I know Jotaro was there but beyond that and the arrows continued existence it didn't really play into anything going on before or afterward) and the fact that Araki started really experimenting with stands due to the first two points and the fact that he was done with the introduction phase of part 3 made it really shine.

That's still a good game but the prpblem is DBZ doesnt really lend itself well to a serious non arena fighter cause of how cloneish most characters play but they did their best for what it is. Something like JoJo with another distinct style but also has characters with varying ability gimmicks is right up their ally

I can't speak a lot about HftF since I don't play it but I've heard it's difficult given the mechanics surrounding stands and how you're meant to play with them, alongside the fact that there aren't a whole lot of resources out there to begin with and even fewer beginners who you can practice with without getting steamrolled. Unless you have someone who's willing to help coach you through the learning curve is going to be VERY difficult if this is one of your first fighting games.

This! I'd possibly change battle system a bit to make it somewhat more sophisticated than your typical RPG maker fare and allow players to actually make use of interesting abilities like Hierophant Green spreading itself over battlefield.

You'd play as the Stand and do all the fighting and whatever other bullshit your User would want you to do. It'd be mission-based. Main story follows the JoJos and their friends, bonus/non-canon missions playing as villainous stands like using Clash to defeat Giorno. Since it's Stand-based it'd skip Parts 1 and 2 and open with Avdol getting Jotaro out of his cell. Gameplay would vary based on the mission/stand.

The best way to simulate the experience of being a JoJo character and having a stand battle would be a Roguelike.

Having to advance carefully, observe enemies from afar to understand the full breadth of their abilities, combining stand mechanics with other stands and the environment in emergent ways, plus a turn based game accurately represents the "talking is a free action" element of JoJo battles.

The only flaw, is I'm not sure how the hell you would code in procedurally generated enemy stands that were interesting.

Classic tactical RPG like the Divinity OS games for example. You can create a custom character and stand or just choose a premade one. Spells are just stand powers. Characters gain both physical skills and stand abilities as they level up. Turn and grid based combat with environmental effects allow elaborate stand abilites (za warudo = take an extra turn at any time, all other characters are defenseless during it. King Crimson = undo any effects caused by every other character during the last turn, etc). Make it an OC adventure that takes place in parallel with one of the popular seasons and have the events be somehow connected to allow some cameos

Multiplayer 3v3 arena game or something where there's different maps with a whole bunch of stuff on each for unique stand users to use and you have to sneak around and beat your foes down

How would you implement and balance King Crimson in a fighting game?

Every 10 seconds, interrupt the gameplay with forced, unskippable cutscenes, where the characters take 10 minutes to slowly explain the current situation and their thoughts and feelings while time is apparently frozen and everyone stands around in stupid poses. Then do a barely logical asspull around a stand mechanic.

If it was a turn based tactical game, say like XCOM, you could activate KC, then for the next turn or so, I dunno how long, game plays like normal, then after the set turns those turns get replayed automatically but you can choose something different for Diavolo to do, even if he died. You wouldn't be able to erase character's memories, but it basically pulls off the "see the future and change fate" part

First, a tech demo. It will focus on third person gameplay, and trying to mimic the functions of Stands as close as possible, while making them able to interact with the enviroment on EXTREME levels. Think being able to walk around in a small room as Josuke and breaking random shit into physics pieces, and then restoring them to how they were.

And then 40 years later, an actual fully fledged open world (maybe multiplayer) game that actually feels like you're using a Stand, along with things like a randomly generated Stand by A.I., and some sort of mechanic that allows you to discover new abilities for your stand by using it in creative ways i.e Giorno's healing or finding out new abilities i.e Star Finger or time stop. Perhaps you could even input a song name as your stand and have it either be loosely or strictly based around that song, album, band, etc.

Or if technology ends up progressing faster than i'm assuming, skip all that gay shit and just make a Matrix VR jojo game where you have the whole earth as your map and can actually use and feel your stand.
