I liked eureka. Eureka is what the normal overworld should have been. Dangerous mobs that don't give up after you move 2ft away and will kick your ass if you're under leveled.

Thief, for example, is highly mobile in FFXI and needs to move and use skills about half as much someone in FF14.

Use your aoe to grab aggro from big pulls. Provoke is for tank swapping. Use your ranged attack for grab aggro from single target or bosses. Do damage to not lose aggro. Dont die.

If tanking 3 or more enemies spam your default aoe and at later levels aoe combo, if not, use your non aoe abilities. Don't use provoke, that actually causes you to lose enmity, just hit the fucker once if it's slaughtering your healer. When mass pulling, use Rampart before you drop below half health, gather the pull with Sprint and Arm's Length to reduce the amount of damage you're taking, ideally activate sprint out of combat. Use your resource mitigators for tankbusters. Tanking is braindead easy in XIV.

Renda-Rae's definitely the weakest overall. I liked the caster DPS and healer storylines the best, I enjoyed the tank story for everything around Branden but the role-quest companion for tanks was weak. Phys DPS had the opposite problem, Renda-Rae was weak but I liked the rich-kid cat.

MCH much more like BRD is played by all sorts of people. That being said MCH is really ping dependent. Any tick or clipping will destroy your damage. A MCH that doesn't suffer from either and knows the class will destroy a BRD in terms of dps. I know because one of my friends is a MCH main and he is on the feet of the melee DPS all the time. Always beats a BRD in terms of damage as well.

Basically the entire story is solo. You'll have to do dungeons with other players eventually but once you're done with the dungeon you'll likely never see them again.

Main story is insanely slow through the base game (ARR) but it's worth it, it pays off HARD after ARR and continues up to now.

There's mandatory multiplayer throughout the story (dungeons, primals, final bosses) but more of it's solo than multiplayer after you get out of ARR and it stops throwing dungeons at you every two levels up to 50.

Players are competent enough to get the job done, fortunately. Much as Yea Forums moans about players being bad, truly awful players that make an instance impossible with their presence are very rare and stick out like a sore thumb.

I just did Rabanastre for the first time last night, it was fun, working on the rest now. I feel like I probably would feel more connected to the story if I had ever played FFT though.
Well, you rarely have to interact with people outside of dungeons and trials which come up every few hours if you slug through the MSQ. But there is a lot of stuff you can do solo, best, however, is just to find a comfy FC that is willing to help you out.
Otherwise, most of the randos you interact with are pretty alright, just sometimes you get an absolute shitter or try hard.
You can solo but it's best played with company since they can help you out with things that would be tedious or difficult on your own.

It's a pretty big 'member berry for people that played Tactics, XII and some bits of Tactics Advance/A2 but they explain enough of what's going on that you can follow. It's absolutely enriched by playing the original games though, the significance of things like the Durai Papers and the various locales hits harder when you're already familiar with them.

the ilvl restriction on alliance raids is shit, can be easily manipulated and needs to be fixed
honestly, the only fight in any alliance raid that will give anyone any real trouble is Thunder God and that's only because retards still don't know how to drop the puddles properly
a bunch of new or returning players will die in Weeping City and Dun Scaith, but wipes are rare, from SB to ShB, the only wipes in the HW raids I have seen have been on Ozma (never more than 2) or Scathach, neither of which are insurmountable
Not anymore. 4.x had TK rotation, 5.05 has RoE optimization and no more slowdown on RoF.
