What's his endgame?

Did this crap spawn the hellish "early access" model?

>you are sharing the same bord with gremlins right fucking now

Attached: 1564100289669.jpg (600x469, 18K)

>Get money per month to make game
>Finish game, get no more money
>Don't finish game, keep getting money forever

Seems like he's got a pretty good thing going. Not his fault his backers are retards.

Writing a game only using global variables and if/else statements.

user if you were in his position, would you finish the game? Of course not. You'd be giving up free money.

>this damage control
yanderesimulator.com/debunk/

OH NO NO NO

Bros you can cook ice cream on a stove now

Settle down, Josh.

>He tries to defend his programming skill

It's almost as if
......................else
............................if
..............................else
....................................if
......................................else

I thought the game was gonna be some VN or something
What actually is it, apart from a frankenstien code abomination?

>code for 5 years
>still don't learn how to do it properly
What did yandev mean by this?

Early access has been a thing for way longer than this game, mate. I'd argue Minecraft is what really kicked it off

He really hasn't wondered at any point that the problem might be with him considering no other game dev in existence took the time to write up a whole bunch of shit to debunk "fake rumors"?

Attached: C6rcXKN.png (1111x335, 130K)

how would you do it then?

he earns more money per month doing literally nothing, which is probably more than 80% of Yea Forums's pathetic wages

Attached: file.png (313x289, 29K)

He could always do sequels after finishing a game. Like that one furry dev that makes 30K a month.

>2 years for girls and game modes
>6 months for actual gameplay and engine work
im thinking he's based

You're right, he does make more money than me but I'm actually happy with my life

Not even this. He could finish the proof of concept demo and just add shit to it along the way. Hell, he could probably sell it no non-backers and hire an actual fucking programmist to fix the stuff that's not working properly

An array you fool
If table[keyvalue]
Table[keyvalue]func

this

This guy banned me on his stream for renaming a video of him drinking a glass of milk to him drinking a goblet of cum

You serious?

Am I retarded if I legitimately want this to succeed? Mainly just because it'll piss of Tumblr, and their seethe is funny.

Does this really matter, as in actually affects the game's performance, or is it some it dick measuring contest?

you set flags

If anyone wants to compare a game like outlast took only a year to make and with 10 people. It still had state of the art graphics for its time

Attached: EGdq0R8.png (374x132, 15K)

what if his true joy in life is grifting?

You can expect something which is programmed poorly to behave and perform poorly yes. It will also be related to the development taking like a decade now.

>>Does this really matter, as in actually affects the game's performance
You go try out the game, see how well it runs

My PC is a few years old but can still handle most modern games fine. It can't run Yansim worth shit though.

Lamoing @ this post

whats the problem with this. I'm a shit tier programmer that just started with Unity and C# and these seem to solve most cases.

what happened bros?

Attached: 1509135581806.png (629x430, 528K)

In case you were curious about the sheer spaghetti of his code:

youtube.com/watch?v=CjPIWng-MQU
youtube.com/watch?v=c8_WxHRQpQE
youtube.com/watch?v=qgFgMXJd9X8
youtube.com/watch?v=_POKuH5qoag

With multiple if-else lists like that, the script is literally going "does this happen? No? Ok does this happen? No? Ok does this happen? No?"
Even if its run on only one frame, you cause so much choke iterating through like 50 if clauses every time an event happens. It's so much easier (and faster, processing wise) to just go "if x happens then do y."

It's why the game runs at 15 fps, even on the dev's computer.

Is this the worst case of indie dev hell in existence? I know it's not the longest, but it feels like the worst, if that makes sense.

Attached: 1509309221931.png (645x729, 58K)

>outlast took only a year to make and with 10 people
Seems like bullshit

>as in actually affects the game's performance
Yes, the demo runs shit FPS.

No you use a bitwise flag you retard.

I'd follow what the Tinybuild programmer I hired would recommend
Oh wait.

Okay, I get it user, thanks

based

Attached: a54.jpg (944x430, 67K)

Imagine your task is to paint a straight line for 500 feet.
What fuckface is doing is instead of holding the paint can and just walking along 500ft while painting, he's leaving the paint can at the start and walking back and forth. Except he's even more fucking retarded and he needs to check if his clothes are on each time he walks back to the paint can, so he walks back, takes his clothes off, and then puts them back on.

Neither of these actions takes too long on its own, but over the course of the duration of the task, it adds more, and more, and more, and more extraneous time. The game runs like fucking ass.

You can accomplish the same things using global variables that you can using paramterization or by using an instance variable but it's bad code style and on a large enough scale your code is going to be unreadable

shacknews.com/article/81506/outlast-your-questions-answered

"Unleashed: How long was Outlast in development and how big was your team? Did any of the game's development need to be outsourced?

Production lasted one year. We were 10 full-time employees, with contractors for sound, music and script."

thanks madotsuki-chan

oh god
it isn't that bad, is it?

Its obvious the game was "done" years ago and it hasn't been released yet so that faggot eva can still get the monthly patreon dollars, if anyone is under the delusion this game will be good, or even release, you're delusional, you've been scammed, just move on

God this shit scares me. Just seeing a bad programmer terrifies me.
What if I end up like this? A terrible programmer.
I'm just fucked, man. How will I develop a game now?

>"done" years ago
The faggot still hasn't even implemented the first target
How is that "done"?

Is Yandere Sim the star citizen of kickstarter?

You are bad but being bad is part of the linear path of becoming good.

Also you are a fag and consumer of elderberries.

It demonstrates a lack of understanding for very basic programming concepts.
There is a meme test called fizzbuzz in programming used to screen people without basic programming ability during recruitment.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fizz_buzz
The code in that screenshot is pretty much the equivalent of failing it by writing a separate line of code for every number from 1 to 100.

it hurts

He tried to get someone to fix the code, and fired them cause he could’nt understand it anymore.

He’s lucky he’s got delusional 12-year olds as fans

It’s who he is as a person that’s preventing him from finishing the game and improving his coding skills. Just an unlikable chump that demands people to praise him for substandard work

What's the best way to start to learn to code and develop games? I'm a boomer faggot considering making an adventure game on Unity in my spare time and i'm wanting to make something in the style of some of the Sherlock Holmes games, possibly. Just am curious about the very first baby steps to start things.

Unlike the fizz buzz, the cases in his code aren't repeated. He should use a switch case.

Just google things that you need to learn to progress in making your game, learning programming is by far easier to learn by doing

Unreal blueprints. You don't even need to write a single line of code.
Some kid got a game in early access using the default shooter blueprint template and freakin sell it for full price.

why not just make a porn game?
porn games you can finish the game chapter and keep going because it has oportunity for endless updates

CODING HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH MAKING GAMES. Its all art. If you cant do art give up right now.

Heres my actual non meme response:
You keep flags and ENUMs that indicate world conditions. You have to keep control flow very tight otherwise there are
1) blatantly easy ways to cheat the system
2) spaghetti code goes flying all over the place
It’s mostly the latter that’s the issue. Encoding everything in strings and doing a check on a specific actor like this is not only sloppy, but it’s inefficient and leads to bad semantics. You’re asking for undefined behavior and for your game logic to break if you do this for a large, scalable project. Unlike what yandev claimed, this is absolutely not readable nor easy to maintain.

Attached: mfw.jpg (1450x1390, 1.16M)

Same here, feelsgoodman. Shame I can't grow a beard though

simply put: it's very slow and inefficient, especially with the way how he codes it. that's why the game lags so much and that's why he can't have a large amount of non-player characters in game at the same time without the game turning into a slideshow
if-else is not bad, it's how you use them that can be bad or good. always try to make your code simple. if you're doing the same thing multiple times make that thing into a function so it's both easier to read and to bugfix.

Attached: are ya coding son.jpg (511x882, 51K)

>trusting Eva

Yes it matters, and it matters for three reasons: The first is performance, the second is that coding like a retard means progressing at a far slower rate, the third is that coding like a retard leaves you with an impossible to debug broken ass product.

I'm an art fag too and vomiting png files into a screen ain't gonna do me no good unless I get a good backbone to go with the art, based retard
Thanks, user

Use ruby with gosu gem

I tried this for the first time recently. Even the first rival girl isn't implemented. What the fuck? Isn't this game 5 years old?

>creating a db object for every method call

Attached: 1513586682477.jpg (389x390, 45K)

He's got to remake the intro video or some inane shit before implementing rivals!

No. DayZ standalone did. It should have ever existed. It split the community and killed the game.

I make 3k a month playing video games and playing with guns, thanks tax payers

So how many more years will it be before this "vertical slice" prototype is done and he can move on to developing the REAL game?

There is an audience willing to pay for an actual game like this, so why has nobody done it?

there's a free phone game called SchoolGirls Simulator

>See qt girl play weird game with anime shit and blood, right before uni class starts.
>Realize it's yandere.
>Stare her down, didn't think someone besides ultra weebs would play it.
>She turns around, gives me a weird look.
>Asks me me to go on a date afterwards.
>Just fucking bolt, her forced smile was kinda creepy.

Did I make the right call?

Attached: Stares in Korean.jpg (225x225, 10K)

How much % of the game is done?
Also, which one is worse, this one or cube world dev?

woah its almost as if you need both coders and art people to make games!!!

She would have likely either wanted you to choke and cut her during sex or for her to smash your balls between two bricks while she pegs you so whether or not you made the right choice is really just a matter of personal preferences.

I feel so bad for the poor TinyBuild programmer who drew the short straw and had to spend a week trying to unfuck this mess while Eva screamed at him.

7 ifs instead of 4 affects it very little
using strings instead of a boolean flag array affects it a fuckload

!!ATTENTION ALL AMATEUR GAME DEVS!!

Worried you'll never make it big?
Worried your code isn't up to scratch?
Worried you'll never amount to anything more than a broken 8bit side scroller that'll never get greenlit?
Well don't you worry, because I'm going to tell you how to make it BIG! And the best part is, you don't even have to improve!

!!!!! MAKE IT EDGY !!!!!

THAT'S RIGHT! Now your game is controversial, so people HAVE to buy it, to STICK IT TO THE SJWs! And if someone doesn't like it or thinks your shitty broken game looks bad... THEY'RE AN SJW TOO! Just tell that KUK (hehe!) to GO BACK TO TUMBLR! ;^)

Is it really that simple, you ask? Yes! Because there are autists and underage retards a-plenty who can see NOTHING beyond their worthless online pissing match, and will even spend REAL MONEY on GARBAGE in order to feel like they've WON! I know, right? Ka-CHING!

Let's hear some testimonials:
>I bought Hatred. I had it pre ordered. It was total garbage, but maybe with mods it will be fun. I'll buy any game that dev makes. I'm not sure why, but I remember it being important to me at some point that I do. Gotta stick with your principles.
>I imported DoAX3, a game which was never announced for Western release, but I like to think was banned anyway. It cost me a lot of money, but it's worth it to feel like I own some genuine contraband. The game is a glorified F2P DLCfest and sometimes I feel like a chump for owning it... but at least I showed Anita what my wallet likes!!!

But user, you say, DoAX3 isn't edgy, it's waifushit! Haha, well spotted! And it takes us on to our NEXT lesson in easy money for shitty games... TAKE IT AWAY, SHANTAE!

But user how is he meant to know what something does unless he uses strings? There's literally no other way to enumerate the various states an NPC might find themselves in, it just doesn't exist.

Erver

just name the boolean variables you use as flags
if someone witnessed a murder then their witnessedMurder flag would be true instead of false, etc.

So his coding is so bad that he takes years to do even the simplest of things?

you're still a potatonigger mate.

lol

I haven't really been following but I know he's a fucking mistake
I just want a game about stalking and serial killing goddammit

Well yes but it's also the fact that he has no sense of proper scope. As such the game has suffered an insane amount of feature creep because every time he plays a new game he has to borrow something from it regardless of whether or not it meshes with the rest of the game.
>Game starts as anime Hitman clone taking place at a school over several days
>Game expands beyond the school to include a 'large town' that can be explored for side quests or helpful items
>Then suddenly there's a Yakuza guy who runs an underground fighting ring that you can compete in that's supposed to blatantly copy Yakuza's brawling gameplay
>Game's menus are scrapped after he plays Persona 5 so he can copy them to make them cool. Also wants to replicate the Confidant system
>Also claims he's including a fully-featured and lengthy 2D Metroidvania game-within-a-game that be played at the arcade
>iirc he also wants to get animated cutscenes and a crafting system was discussed

Attached: 1559412624609.jpg (679x1200, 168K)

>2k a month
Has it been slowly decreasing? I could have sworn he was making more than that back then

This unironically makes him look based

How?

I would not go as far as you with your fantasy user, but something in that direction seemed likely.

Amen, brother.

No, I think we're sharing it with Blockland Forum autists who got their trolling website shut down after making mommy angry

If this was real you would shoot the niggers and gang stalkers first.

I dont know coding

Use a food analogy to explain why this Golbin's code is bad

What was it?

It used to be 5k. I think it was when he had his reddit meltdown that most everyone jumped ship and its getting smaller every month

Giving someone a bowl of grapes and making them repeat what they want every time you add a single grape in.
It's horribly inefficient

Attached: aiportraits_1563708784.jpg (512x512, 24K)

It really doesn't matter. In the end you are scripting not making an engine so it barely has any effect on performance. However some people have the need to feel superior and thus they mock him.

You go to the grocery store, and find that the grocer hasn't categorized any of the food, there's candy in your apples, vegetables in your coca cola, and spaghetti is everywhere

It takes you 5 hours just to find a banana because you go through each aisle, case by case, looking for something in particular

Meanwhile there's molasses on the floor so you run at 25% speed, because there's so much shit going on

This grocery apocalypse could have been prevented with an educated manager who did planning before stocking the shelves.

>so it barely has any effect on performance.
That's a straight up lie

Even FF14 1.0 had massive efficiency issues because the designers just slapped script components onto everything and anything without knowing the O-notation complexity behind each script.

youtu.be/Xs0yQKI7Yw4

I don't recall where in this longass documentary it was said, but Yoshi-P (the new director) definitely said it in there somewhere.

People mock him because he acts like an entitled shit and refuses to improve desu.

instead of using a basket for fruits
he's lining them up

>own a gun
>still a pussy
Killing yourself was probably for the best.

Imagine getting payed every month to make a game and realising that as soon as the game is done you will not get payed anymore.

He keeps coming up with more and more shit to add to the game without even getting the basics down just to have an excuse to not finish the game. I dont blame him, retards are literally paying him to not finish the game, i would stash the money and keep doing it until people get mad. It will be a buggy mess when it comes out anyways.

does anyone have any screencaps of that one time he went on Yea Forums(?) and started ranting about how bad Yea Forums is or somethin

that's ridiculous

>initializing a variable just to assign it to another initialized variable
>all those unintuitive names like "num9" that tell fuckall about what the variable is supposed to represent

Even a first-year CS student can write better code than this. How in the hell did this guy get a game demo running with this abortion?

Attached: wtf.jpg (680x793, 41K)

The variable names likely lost their original names when the code was decompiled.

I think you're right, because all the float "single_n" increase sequentially even when they're out of scope

There are also no comments in the code, which is another hint that it was decompiled

It will come out.......in 2030. I'd say 2030 is AT LEAST semi-realistic considering how slow the implementation of OSANA is. Then again if I were him I'd scrap Osana and just make it a memeware sandbox game.

Do you not know what obfuscation is? He doesn't use those kinds of names. But you can still see that what he's doing there is stupid as fuck, without knowing the exact variables.

I predict that 1000 useless features will be in BEFORE Osana. Unironically 1000.

I was under the impression that someone was posting his source code and that it wasn't bytecode put through a decompiler.

I still stand by my comment about the variable assignment.

Yes, that's the obvious correlation and not the fact Poland is sandwitched between two superpowers, wasn't on the map for over 120 years and was under gommunizm until recently or still is depending how you look at it.

Gonna jinx it right now, the game gets picked up by epic for some reason.

How many years of programming experience does it take a total beginner to rougly make a game like Yandere Simulator?

I'm okay at drawing and want to mess around with game dev.

>2370

work ethic, education and just culture really is still fucking trash here though
Poles fucking suck, I wish we were still under German rule, poles need to be held by the balls

fuck off newfag

lol

He wants to have stans and buttloads of money while doing nothing at all. He mostly got what he wanted.

You mean a shitty sandbox with prebought assets? You could jump right in any time you want.

It is basically a one man project with a couple of acquired helpers. Obviously it is going to take a while since his goal is to get a publisher and replacements for the placeholder assets which he paid for contrary to popular accusation.

Check the Wordpress for details. I agree he should have gone with a simpler design and set the game in the 1990s to avoid making the game more complicated with versions of social media or cellphone cameras.

Considering Yandere Simulator has the code of a guy who took one programming class and thought he was a master, about zero

newfag

To have the ability to slap it together somehow, not even a year probably. The thing that's hard in programming and takes more than a year is understanding how to lay proper a framework and not work yourself into a chaos that you can't escape from without rewriting everything you have. That stuff takes experience.

even if you ignore the naming he still took 10 lines of code for each transform.position portion for literally no reason when he could have done it in 3, maybe 4 if my CS knowledge is wrong on one point

I have absolutely zero idea why he went to all that extra work except he's an absolute fucking retard who somehow didn't learn how shit worked

I've worked with Pajeets that did horrible crimes against humanity when they were doing backend work on some shitty app because corporate wanted to sell shitty mobile apps, but holy hell, what the fuck is that. That is so far away from best practice, I can't even comprehend how he even managed to code this way.
Nearly all programming/Cs tutorials online and literature will tell you straight away how to do shit.

Remember that time the script for the video was leaked and everyone brushed it off as fake because it was too ridiculous to be true?

Attached: yandere simulator expect.png (618x388, 116K)

look up some tutorials for unity. you could probably get a stock map and a free unity store character running around in a day

>if then ad nauseam
I can't take the development seriously anymore

>working on game
>become disatisfied with the code's architecture
>rewrite core code, takes forever
>repeat ad infinitum

None at all. When you get a CS degree got Universities usually teach you concepts to apply to different programming languages but in my experience the best coders/programmers are self taught autists that failed so many times, that they can tell you where you will fuck up just looking at the first line of code you just wroite for your programm. Try to learn and improve yourself, you'd probably be able to make your own small indie game competently in less than two years if you practice daily and even have options to apply at some corp that pays nice wages and lets you go home at 4 without fucking your soul like most game companies do.

Feel free to fuck off back to Germanistan and stay there, then.

It's that curse. The best way to git gud is to actually have the motivation to finish projects you started and learn from your mistakes for later, not getting overwhelmed and then dropping it. It's easier said than done, though.

Remember the old coding paradigm:
Finish your project and make sure it works. Improve afterwards.

Oh no, I'm moving to Switzerland soon. Germany is pretty great too, though. You should try it, maybe it'll broaden your horizons a bit.

>this triggers the janusz

So coding is technically the same as writing a novel, finish your story first, then read what you wrote and edit it properly to make it better.

naw it's like writing a really big list of math

Can I get a link to the video?

>In the end you are scripting not making an engine so it barely has any effect on performance.
It being scripting doesn't mean it has "barely any effect on performance" scripting can have a massive effect, in fact scripting languages are less performant. And if your using too many loops or if elses that eats up at the CPU performance, and can significantly decrease frame time performance. Every step a program takes adds to the time it takes to iterate through a frame. And scripting languages(c#, python, javascript) are more abstracted and take more steps, then languages the engines generally use(c++, c).
Scripting makes things faster and easier to program at the cost of performance, so making shit scripting will end up having gigantic performance costs.

Rest easy knowing I had a chuckle at this.

I'm pretty sure you can apply this principle to 99% of all project oriented skills out there.

when will that jew josh stream again it was fucking great for passing time at work

Fuck, is all those 2676 lines a single update function that's probably called every frame?
This is some big shit.
I wonder if the compiler actually optimized that shit and in truth it's even worse

It was supposed to be simplified anime girl Hitman, with 6(?) love rivals to eliminate so you’re the only girl available for your crush. Then Eva started playing other games instead of working on his own, liked ideas, and tried to implement them without any regard for how wide the scope of the game was getting (let alone the difference between a professional development team and one spiteful, arrogant autist). Now it’s bloated to all hell and what was originally fairly difficult for his inefficient spaghetti code is near impossible.

>Fuck, is all those 2676 lines a single update function that's probably called every frame?
Guess again. Those lines of code are filled with checks against the gameobject's characterid to determine which character is being updated. All characters share the same giant spaghetti script.
That code has to run EVERY FRAME for EVERY CHARACTER.

>first rival still not implemented
How can you be this much of a fucking failure and STILL refuse to acknowledge fault?

>when he could have done it in 3, maybe 4 if my CS knowledge is wrong on one point
if(this.transform.position.y < 0){this.transform.position.y = 0;}
if(this.transform.position.z < -99-5){this.transform.position.z = 99.5;}

I really have no clue what the hell he is smoking. This is just terrible. And I'm currently working through old code at work which is frustrating enough. If it would look like that something would fly through the window.

I'm surprised it doesn't just refuse to run.

Yes, writing awful spaghetti code affects the performance of your game.
In this instance it PROBABLY won't have a serious effect, but considering that this game fucking chugs on most systems, it's DEFINITELY not the only example of poor optimization.

>im-fucking-plying
I've been in Germany many times, and every time I'm there it's more and more shit.

The fuck?

He doesn't mention big O, but one dev talks about script usage at 14:12

Programming anons please tell me about some good resources to teach me about programming some world state shit so i don't end up like this guy.

I never know how to handle the more abstract parts of programming game design like saving, AI group behavior, and what to make subclass specific.

Why was he using Javascript in the first place? Javascript is good for web projects, but if i were to make a videogame for the PC i would start the project with a more viable language like C# or C.

How fucking long was yanderedev coding in fucking Javascript?
You might be able to get away with that for a really fucking simply 2d game, but my god this is a complicated 3d project.

the literal endgame is that once he adds the first rival its done, because "this was all just a vertical slice for the concept" and then the kickstarter launches to determine if people want a full version, that is seriously his plan

>and what to make subclass specific
What do you mean by this?

Probably because it was the only thing he knew and Unity happened to support it.

Lol, you've only yourself to blame if you go to NRW. That's like going to eastern Poland and complaining that people shit in outhouses. If you really wanna stay in this shithole, well, enjoy i guess?

okay this wasn't so bad until last 5 seconds. I mean, it was janky in typical pre-alpha fashion, if I didn't know better I would expect it would be polished out in the future, but I can just FEEL the code at work here, and how they go through all 'else if' statements to finally arrive at 'dead body' one once the animation is over.

Like what functions I should write as a part of a particular subclass (like an enemy type or gun type), vs when I should use things like override functions that apply to broader class functions.

Like if I wanted to have a gun class that has a fire method, and then specific qualities/behaviors based on the caliber or type of projectile.
Does that make sense or am I talking nonsense?

Google... no, i'm serious, as a software engineer i can tell you this, don't be afraid of looking for help on the internet, there's a lot of tutorials out there, you just have to look for them, wich one is the best? look every single one of them, and follow the one you understand the most, you only need basic knowlege of the language to start programming, the rest is pure logic and experience, also check the documentation of the language to know about functions and classes that can make your job easier. My final advice, learn what language is the best for each situation, don't use Javascript to make a PC game when there are better options.

Javascript is a bloated mess and is not good for the web, it just works. And you shouldn't use C#, only C and C++.

Yeah, I'm doing my best, looking at other people's projects and thinking about why they chose to do something a certain way is definitely helping.

nice

>I've been in Germany many times
your 2 week toilet cleaning & bricklaying contract doesn't count, andrzej

As a dev I agree with this user. Ideally do a bunch of smaller projects, ez games like snake or what have you in game maker.

Ideally you get an internship and build up your code skills in a work environment, but that's a tangent.

Generally you should avoid inheritance completely when it comes to gameobjects since it tends to lead nightmarish tree-structures.
Look up the "Entity component system" model. Rather than using inheritance between "sort of similar" enemy or gun types you can just assign them "components" for each type of behavior they need.

Imagine trusting a literally tripfag that everyone hated.

Attached: 1453648936871.gif (500x280, 629K)

JavaScript runs the entire modern web though

If you have guns, you have a main gun class that has all the basic stuff guns should have. Like being able to have ammo, firing and shit like that, than you make children from that so you get snipers, pistols and such. Think of it like building something in reverse.

woosh

whats wrong with c#

And? It's still a bloated mess that literally anyone that uses it wants to replace it. There is a reason why there's been so many attempts to replace it. Issue is that it's just to popular to be killed, good can't wait for webassembly.

>He has a section of his site dedicated to defending his ego with a fucking search function to top it off
Holy fuck, never change

Yeah, that's what I figured at first but then I ran into problems when I realized that each gun fires in a different way, and different kinds of projectiles could exhibit really different kinds of behavior that's really hard to abstract into useful class methods.

Don't get too caught up in complex class hierarchies. Prefer interfaces over abstract classes.

Ammo shouldn't be a subclass of the gun, but it's own class. The gun should just call a generic function from the main ammo class. That way each unique ammo can just override the parent class function with it's own unique if it should have one, else it just calls the default method.

He’s still too busy seething over Indivisible getting funded.

if you're doing game dev in unity, you should be EXTREMELY careful what you put in Update(). whatever you put there runs as fast as possible. essentially the only shit that should be there is input listeners and stuff that genuinely needs to update every frame, like lerp-based animations and stuff like that.

seems like yanderedev just stuffed his entire game into the Update() function so what happens is that the game runs through a fuckton of redundant code as fast as it possibly can. even if it didn't run badly, it would still be horrendous design simply because of the redundant check bullshit

>Baba is you has easily the worse graphics of modern games

imagine you want to check up whether your post has gotten (you)s on Yea Forums. you decide to launch internet explorer, then head over to Yea Forums, then search your post by hand by clicking around the website, then scroll down to your post to see if it has any responses. then when you find out it doesn't, you close internet explorer, but immediately launch it again and repeat the process, constantly checking if your post has gotten responses.

then someone tells you to just go into the Yea Forums settings and enable the feature that informs you when you get a (you), and you think it's too hard and continue doing things the hard way

Holy shit, for being an entire fucking video game in an update function, that is an INCREDIBLY small amount of code. If the programmer who wrote it was worth their salt, they'd be able to rewrite the entire thing into a beautiful second draft with in, like 48 hours. That's what's so pathetic about this, that he's such an amateur that he has 'worked' years just in his first draft. He refuses to take another pass at it, and he holds his code so sacred that he actually thinks he's produced a real labor there. He needs to do what every other programmer on the planet does and take another pass at it!

>if(this.transform.position.y < 0){this.transform.position.y = 0;}
That's his entire gravity, isn't it?

Please explain why this is bad practice.

No one in this thread has any trouble understanding what that code is doing. But everyone thinks that they can do better without giving examples.

His videos are the worst, he really thinks he's in complete control, that everyone in the world is the biggest idiot mark, and that he can just order people how to worship him

There's gotta be an
else {this.transform.position.y = this.transform.position.y - Time.deltaTime * (float)10;}
somewhere in there.

>if(this.transform.position.y < 0){this.transform.position.y = 0;}
I wasn't 100% sure if you could just do it straight to the object since it's been so long, so my thought was just using one Vector3 variable, but yeah that's even better.

fucking ten times the code that's even necessary and he does the exact same fuck up multiple times. Even the retards I knew in CS101 in my first year who were on the verge of flunking didn't fuck up that badly.

The most obvious problem here is that he's comparing entire strings, when enums or something similar would be a lot less expensive. The multiple-flag comparisons such as "Weapon and Blood and Insanity" are especially fucking bad.

reminder that EvaXephon made YS to spite the lead game developer of pic related

MikeZ was Eva's hero and main inspiration of becoming a game dev and he still didn't listen to his hero's criticism but actually took it horribly wrong and he now has a grudge against him

Attached: Ajna_Swing.png (3224x3017, 2.12M)

I don't know maybe every character just jumps one frame worth of Y transform each frame before snapping back to 0 on that line's command the next frame

pic related and chatlog is proof that advice from his hero made Eva seethe because he can never do anything wrong

pastebin.com/wXBcwJ4s

Attached: advice from his hero.png (782x543, 74K)

It's implied since they said something like "the designers didn't realize how slow they were making the UI by adding so many components"

Not that designers should be trained like programmers, but still, they should have a basic understanding of what a CPU does if they work in vidjageams

>(MikeZ) If the dude who is your inspiration tells you you are possibly doing things the wrong way, how is your reaction to NOT listen?
>srsly, what kind of ego does that take?

>48 hours
A good cryptologist maybe, not programmer.
A good programmer wouldve just said "fuck it, Im writing my own code"

It hurts.

Attached: AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH.gif (500x370, 1.88M)

I mean if they were already familiar with the design. A competent programmer already has a quick idea of the entire design just from looking at a screenshot and could whip it together in 48 hours for sure

the more time i spend on this planet, the more i'm led to believe that the most important factor when it comes to one's skills and success is their ability to deal with criticism

If you decide to go down the ECS path, learn how interfaces work

Attached: oblivion guard.jpg (800x640, 96K)

you are correct because the path to success is built upon countless failures

if you can't get over failure, you cannot grow as a person

this is why also, you shouldn't spend much time sequestered away in bubbles like SJWs or poltards do, because you slowly develop an inability to deal with diverse viewpoints. 'safe spaces' are truly cancer for human development

Attached: absolutely bourgeous.jpg (273x444, 49K)

He's still garbage but he's spot on about this shithole

Alright, that's it, let's test out my dumb gambit. August 1st, 5:20 P.M., if I can crank out a *Spins wheel* Third Person Shooter with *Stares around the room* a robot succubus protagonist with *Rolls d20* 10 levels. Then Yandere Dev is a fucking loser by all accounts

Attached: 2_megaman_battle_network.gif (350x233, 15K)

I like the contrast between his self-declared persecution and messiah complex, and his sex stalking murder simulator. It really captures the lack of logic and self-image in both Yanderedev and the project itself.

Why is he coding gravity when Unity does that? (and will definitely be better than whatever he tries to do, even though Unity does some retarded shit)

Stress and a desire for more aren't proof of failure, they're proof of participation

Why does his videos still have a shitton of views?
Does he buy his views?

I have no idea what I'm talking about I just made that up to guess why he'd manually transform Y to 0 on his characters every frame

you underestimate how dumb 12 year old girls are

actually wait, they must be 17 years old by now

Attached: yandere code.png (1366x768, 949K)

because YS has a big following of teenagers who are too dumb to realize they're being duped but like the premise.
My niece liked to harp on about how she liked it and I downloaded that piece of shit to be a nice uncle. All I can say is thank goodness that phase is fading

Didn't a bunch a Bronies literally make a fighting engine in 2 months for their dumb fan game?

if i had to guess, at some point one of his gameobjects was at the wrong y coordinate and rather than tracking down the bug, he decided to make sure every object's y is 0 by setting it that way every frame

wasn't this game supposed to literally be released by now?

Is it true that Undertale is like 90% if Statements?

My guess is that students were falling through the floor, so he just decided to reset to 0 on when they sink below, instead of fixing his collider. (Probably just a flat plane, which is not recommended)

no
they used the skullgirls engine

Fucking this, I avoid safe spaces since I decided to stop buying into every bullshits from /pol/

>he decided to make sure every object's y is 0 by setting it that way every frame
an excellent way to code if your goal is to keep your game at 20 FPS

Yeah but Unity does have a navmesh built in, his level geometry must be severely fucked if he's not using it. I mean for god's sake, it's a school, the ground is flat here for obvious reasons. There's no reason a navmesh should be shitting itself

Very true. My father likes to tell a story about my grandfather. He used to work at some kind of mine. My grandfather thought that his boss hated him, he took every criticism personally, and one day he decided to let loose. He called that man everything imaginable and was fired on the spot. Meanwhile a letter arrived at my grandparents house with an offer of advancement for my grandfather, he was going to be a foreman get stock and a nicer house. Poof! the company which also owned their house agreed to forgive the debt but they had to gtfo asap. My dad always said that the company got bought out a few years later and the stock was worth 1 million dollars in 1972. Through acting like a moron my grandfather fucked over the family for generations. I love my grandfather but I am damn careful when it comes to burning bridges.

You mean the mlp game that had to change to its own thing later? Mike Z gave them the his Z-engine for free.

I'm just surprused that despite him losing many patreons, he still has many views, t he hype should have died years ago, even shitubers don't bother with the game anymore

I will, thanks.

He's not, I think he's using some asset store A* plugin instead of the built in navmesh. You can see the students conga-lining because of it.

>I love my grandfather but I am damn careful when it comes to burning bridges.
he should have mine'd his own business

Attached: chest ahead.jpg (720x480, 51K)

>, I think he's using some asset store A* plugin instead of the built in navmesh.
That makes more sense, although it seems like a really bad decision. Unless Unity didn't have a navmesh feature when he started in 2013 or whenever Yandere Sim was started

> You can see the students conga-lining because of it.
I think that would happen with a navmesh solution too, if the students all started from the same point and then always took the most efficient path to the goal. A navmesh is basically just A* over non-grid nodes docs.unity3d.com/Manual/nav-BuildingNavMesh.html

huh, didn't know you could just ask for engines. Neat

Yeah, he's not a programmer at all!

These threads are legitimately entertaining. I love laughing at the fucker. I fucking hate yanderedev but honestly I can't imagine a world where he doesn't exist for us to mock

Too be fair, Lab Zero used it as a stretch goal incentive to try and get ponyfag autism bucks when they were doing their Indiegogo for SG.

I mean it's a nice gesture and clever strategy, hopefully, they make some public release of it since Godot, 2D Game Maker, and etc are a tad tiring despite being universally similar in function.

Honestly I don't have any real desire to hurt the guy, the fact is he's got a pretty stressful and schizophrenic life he's created for himself, and I'm not sure the $2,283/month x 12 = $27,396 (before taxes) he makes a year is at all worth it. It's a pretty sad life and I don't really think there's anything we can take away from him by posting on Yea Forums worse than what he's set up for himself.

Attached: yan.png (300x413, 26K)

Okay, imagine you're at a restaurant and you want to order food. You open the menu and try to look for filet mignon. But the menu is no ordinary menu, it's actually a machine with one button and a speaker. You can't ask it for filet mignon. There's only one button to press. In order to find the filet mignon you have to press the button, and listen to what it says. You do that and it says "WAFFLES". Then you press it again, and it says "PANCAKES". You then have to press the button over and over and over again, until you successfully reach the filet mignon, at which point you must hold the machine up and yell "I DID IT I DID IT" and the waiters will come out in a conga line clapping and singing a non-copyrighted version of Happy Birthday.

Then, when you want to order a drink, you have to do that again. And again for the side. And for dessert. Repeat for every customer.

I saw him in a video where he was at a con, he looked ok imo.

Imagine if you asked for scrambled eggs
Imagine despite the fact all the ingredients are there he doesn't use eggs or a pan...and he used his bare hands

Watch some unity tutorials. You could slap yandere sim together in a week or two. Like, literally yandere sim, since all the assets are just bought from the store or stolen rom copyrighted works.

It affects the game tremendously. Like, it can't be understated.

His way makes generating each character a taxing task and keeping their behavior scripts running even more taxing. Its not taxing in the sense of calculating his shit, its taxing in it forcing the CPU to go through line after line after line after line to complete tasks. He writes like each character must be made from a character generator instead of premade set assets. Worse still he has zero concept of destroying assets when not in use.

This is why games like dynasty warriors and dead rising run better with less resources than his shit: preset models, shorter code lines.

Writing his down, EvA?

Someone already did that, made a better functioning prototype in C# or C++

Wait, so why has this thing been in development for so long? I have seen indie jap devs make full UE4 games in 2 or 3 years

I'm positive he sees any attention from Yea Forums as a good thing though, given that he's a mentally-ill weirdo who's sought appreciation from here and Yea Forums.
It's perfectly plausible that he makes these threads himself. We didn't circlejerk like this for other lolcow "devs" like John Flynt or the Bob's Game guy.

I like how the graph gets more brown
the drawing just looks like a slavic Thomas Shelby

r/woosh my dude, nice reference +1 karma and reddit gold kind sir.

I personally like the concept and the broken sandbox nature is comfy

aye, this is because you're supposed to move out of Poland, not into it.

If you are afraid of this happening then you have learned not to and could be a better programmer.

I'm not a programmer but would it be better to split this up into multiple files? Like each file is responsible for a group of closely related things with explanations on what's going on. I know the code has to go somewhere but it doesn't have to be in the same place.

It was a cool concept when Yea Forums was first putting it together. Think about it, a Hitman game but in an anime school setting, with MGS like TECHNOLOGY. And the twist of having to do social engineering to get Senpai to like you, and not be caught. A fully simulated school environment with goals that go against the grain of the setting. It could be really cool. Instead it's a 15fps undertale referencer where all the characters are retarded, everyone has the same face, and it's generally broken all around.

it says 18 clearly

What changed between now and June?

Attached: IsaHuh.jpg (360x360, 88K)

Yeah if the game is big enough (which it might not need to be) you'd want a some amount of seperate files, but no matter what his file should be an indexed series of classes and references, not just a big 'IF GAME ON RUN FRAME' retard program

He certainly won't leave his house to take a programming course because he'd be booted for trying to sniff chairs.

Didn't he have a programmer hire or something that fixed a lot of his shit code, then he got rid of him or something?

Legendary ineptitude at programming and project management, massive feature bloat, a completely non-existent work ethic and insane ego issues to prevent Eva to get any help with any of the aforementioned.

Unity javascript isn't actually javascript, it's just a weird proprietary vaguely-javascript shaped scripting language.

yes.

I'm tired of Eva and his threads, he is doing nothing recently, his game is boring to look, the whole fucking thing with yandere is meh at this point, it does not matter if he releases the game today or tomorrow, most people will not care about his game, he had his chance 3 years ago, but he fucked up by streaming games and creating unnecessary drama around him.
Eva if you are reading this, you are pathetic, your game is pathetic, the game is basically a joke gift people will throw away after the first day, nobody gives a shit about yandere/tsundere anymore, finish the game before your patreon drys for good and move on, you won't be able to fuck that prostitute without money or a house.

No way.

What a complete fucking retard

>tragically, he... *sobs* he, he rewrote it... to fit BEST PRACTICES!

The best part about this excuse is all he would have to do is create a fork let the competent dev unfuck everything all the while he shits out turd after turd of "content updates". the guy he hired would probably be caught up with his build after a few updates since on top of being bad at programming he is also slow as fuck.

I mean, in a way he's right, not wanting to hit the brakes completely, but having the other programmer make a second version that fits together better would have been a big improvement in the long term.
It would also make adding on to it much easier, too, provided he tried to learn from the competent programmer.

Sometimes I'll feel bad for Yandev catching so much shit but then I remember the outrageous ego on this dude.
>2017
kek, even with a six month delay he'd probably have his game finished by now with an actual programmer

What's his endgame? Try to get a job at a company or try to find another patreon gold mine?

People still follow this garbage orchestrated by megajew evaxephon?

Attached: eva.jpg (1024x729, 132K)

I doubt it is the latter, this cow is still has tons of milk left to give.
graphtreon.com/creator/YandereDev

Tell me that date is some other July and not a week ago

>yanderesimulator.com/debunk/
>he gets up at 1pm for past 10 years
>you have to get up to slave for not even a third of what he earns in a month

How does Chaddev do it?

Attached: 1561856593985.gif (111x150, 21K)

Complete bullshit, any competent developer would outpace eva shitting out his "content", so they could have just branched right there, eva continues doing his thing for the videos, actual programmer refactors the engine and backports his "content" until they reach parity later. Speaking of branching, I wouldn't be surprised if eva didn't use any version control as well.

Indeed, perhaps you should peer over your sibling's shoulders every now and then so you can keep them away from mistakes.

That's about as much as you would get working full time at Mcdonalds. Not enough to live in California especially Los Angelas where he lives.

judging from the filename, I'm guessing last year

What even are the costs for LA?
Is it just that bad?

True but i am just going to assume based off his appearance and personality he is a shut in. so i doubt he spends it on much other then video games food and rent.

Not in its current state. You'd need much more time replicating all that feature bloat. Not six fucking years though. Maybe one.
I honestly believe YanDev's biggest issue isn't his programming, it's his management. He kept up on that asinine schedule of adding some sort of new feature every two weeks for YEARS. Then everything gets held up by volunteers taking forever when he could have easily just hired one or two people to work with some actual efficiency (fun fact: there has only been ONE hire in the history of the game, a guy that makes hairstyles, because he's the only one that "met his standards")

>tfw Yanderedev makes more than you (after taxes)

I realize he's probably exaggerating here, but being a dickhead when someone shows you their fan project is just rude. Why would you shit on some dude's whole life publicly because his coding was bad?

this guy has to be a complete genuine brainlet, holy hell
how do you get upset about someone cleaning up you shit-tier code for you?

I bet this was how people reacted to TF2 during it's nine years in development but with Steam dollars instead of Patreon bucks

>16GB of ram
what the fuck? other more polished looking games take less

>he told me he would need to rewrite parts of the code and I said no so now he's just making what I already worked on complaint
I hate this guy
Also Yandev is a retard because he can just have two builds, he doesn't have to 'send it away to the shop', it's just a file.

Maybe 1.5k to 3k to rent a basic apartment. You would need multiple room mates which I don't think he would be happy with.

you should read the actual exchange

>longer development cycle than gta 6

I’m guessing you don’t play dwarf fortress

based placeboing poster

Wouldn't it be great if someone petty and competent went and made it themselves from scratch and released it for free.

WHY IS HE ACTING LIKE THE OLD BUILD IS DESTROYED WHILE YOU WORK ON AN UPDATE?!

Because it was bad? Like he literally wanted to show off his engine and its features, and all of it was shit. People didn't even tell him it was shit right away, but since he reacts to the slightest criticism like you have literally just shit on his mother's face right in front of him, you might as well just tell him how it is. Read the fucking chatlog, mr bleeding heart.

the model that has the most polygons in his game is a toothbrush

Thats what happens when you decide to add every fucking gameplay mechanic possible rather than focus on the main shit.

wish I could see the replies

because a large portion of his fanbase are gullible dumb fucks and children that don't know anything about development.

I'm pretty sure there were some similar games being made for this exact purpose.

He hasn't added shit, all he did was spend months making long-winded videos saying he will eventually add it, as padding for his five year fucking dev cycle the genius cooked up to scam a mere $22k a year out of patreon. It's ridiculous.

since everyone and their mother is a game dev expert what software do i use to make my own music if i want to make bleep bloops
oddly enough agdg has nothing about making your own music in their resources

Mike wasn't a dick at all, he gave him perfectly measured advice and Yandev ran home and told his fanbase he had been under attack, because EvaXephon is literally a pathological liar who jumps from excuse to excuse not to work.

sounds like he's not a pathological liar then
a pathological liar is somebody who lies for no reason

Get some royalty free music that fits the mood, hire an actual composer if your game takes off and you can afford him.

Give him enough time and Patreon bucks and he'll do it

Yea Forums has frequent generals on the subject.
I personally have Fruity Loops, but only diddled around in it and am completely useless if you want a reliable opinion.

It's obvious he has never heard of forking/branch management. No one works directly on master directly, ever. Unless they're really fucking stupid.

And it still looks like trash lmao

>Mike tells him politely his code will fucking god awful and that he needs to just clean it up or it will be a buggy mess to deal with later.
>FaggotDev spends the next 10 lines crying about how his hero didn't just fucking love it as it is and didn't call him a fucking genius for his self taught """"""CODING"""""

Shut up and take more than 2 seconds to look online and see how much of a cocksucker this idiot is before you try to defend him.

At least his code has indentation.

Audacity or LMMS and sound fonts

you're using a word wrong

Most people who like to program bend over backwards to give you pointers unless you're being a dick. Even on Yea Forums I have never had people shit on me directly about my code.

You're a massive faggot that needs attention so you play stupid for (You)s.
I hate reddit tourist like you.

cope

$2.3k a month really isn't much

>"I hope you get raped to death by dogs,"

Attached: 1450756007692.png (940x707, 1.04M)

You can learn how to do it, but the best way to be a good programmer is working on projects with other programmers and learning how they do things and seeing the bigger picture.

I'm getting paid $3400 a month in the fall just to copy paste dialog boxes for a local studio lmao
Eat shit yandev

For literally doing nothing it sure is.

For doing fuckall?

That's 2.3k too much.

At his peak he was making 5k a month. He has made over 100k for his shitty game that hasn't even been released yet, if he doesn't kill himself before it's relased.

Attached: firefox_2019-08-01_19-58-01.png (539x511, 30K)

go to the archives retard

Why do you hate yourself Eva

dayz senpai

I don't get why he's pissed that Yea Forums isn't nice too him. Obviously Reddit is going to be nice, it's a fucking community dedicated to you, obviously Anime Expo is going to be nice to you, you need to have severe autism to walk up to someone in real life and be a cunt to them over a video game, if you're an actually good developer that isn't a cunt people on Yea Forums would (mostly) like you. It's not hard.

>There are 200 gremlings in this thread

Attached: 1552258856223.jpg (259x259, 8K)

Seeing as he can't even complete work on the first boss (out of eight) over the course of three years, i'd say he'll die of old age before he even gets to the Yakuza part

Reddit also reinforces circle jerk culture.

I think he posted this on 8 chan. I tried to find any information around that time but people keep mentioning another chan where this happened.

Cause hes a faggot and only wants a hugbox and backpats
That was evidenced on that chatlog with the skullgirls dev

202 gremlins!

Hi :)

I'll never get over the video where he complains about being compared to 'failures' like Chris-chan and DSP when:
>Chris actually has a severe mental disability that wasn't properly treated
>DSP owns his own house and is making money doing even less work than him on top of being married
Meanwhile YanDev's one product of note still isn't out and he lives with his parents despite being capable of work.

When his subreddit turned on him, he bought it. No, I'm serious he bought the Subreddit.

Yandere sim would be out if he stopped putting new features into it. Is there even a base game set up? Are there rules or is it just a sandbox for his autistic dreams?

Attached: yandev vs eric.png (2346x1243, 618K)

How easily is your ego bruised to do something like that?

How the fuck do you buy a subreddit?

>All of those deleted comments

Mother of god

Hey Josh,

I'm sick of you talking about mumkey jones. Get some new material.

Eric seems cool but I'll admit I'm a little jealous that an edgemeister like him can draw pretty damn well while I can't do shit.

>Yandere had a whole community of support around him and 5K a month
>he brushed it all aside

Man... I'd settle just for one person who cared about what I do.

>Eva doesn't allow criticism

Why are you spreading lies Yea Forums?

Attached: vivaldi_2019-08-02_03-04-21.png (859x191, 18K)

Don't worry, user. It took Eric a decade to get to where he (she?) is today. You can do it, too.

Didn't this guy keep complaining about getting so much emails and that was the reason work was slowing down?

You know we still love you, user.

CARLOS!

I was with him, up until the last paragraph where he goes full retard.

>Almost 10 fucking years

Attached: Tek_x_sf.jpg (385x258, 26K)

Where the hell are people getting his code ? Did he leak it, or was there mad lads who actually decompiled the code ?

Stupid people are going to be stupid and bad no matter how long they take. You have people in their late 20s who've been drawing since they were 10 and still look like trash. Then you have people who actually applied themselves, learned, and made massive leaps in quality over 3 years. It's all a matter of how interested you are in actually doing it and getting better, like any skill.

>3 month old project
>his whole life

thats some dedication

He streamed showing it.

He's still streaming everyday on his twitch account for hours instead of working. What an attention whore.

I dunno user I hate to blogpost but finding the motivation for doing anything is hard, guess I don't have a choice but to give up. I'll try to use the advice you gave me in the best way I can though, thank you.

C# assemblies are extremely easy to decompile with minimal losses, especially if you compare it to something like reverse engineering C code.

youtu.be/RTOri5ytDFA?t=26

>his fucking code

Attached: 930944242.png (444x440, 285K)

From memory, people started getting banned because they posted on subreddits criticising him or had criticized him in the past. For a while I saw people calling it "North Korea"

a 10 fucking 60 for a unity game?

>indivisible is coming out before yanderesim

odds that he rushes to release yandere sim right at the same date and that's why he's taking so long?

Is Yandev the new Chris-chan?

Attached: 1527173488709.png (600x632, 253K)

hold on does this mean that he has a typo somewhere and never got around to fixing it?
I just don't understand

what

one of his volunteers talked about it and defended

I don't understand how you can even begin to write this
How is he okay having to go through all of this every day?

Attached: 1443730764683.gif (345x260, 2.83M)

he's not
that's why it's not being worked on anymore

That's so retarded I can't believe it

No one come close to Chris-chan. Yanderedev is his own piece of autism
