It started as a bit of e-celeb drama that bled into a journalism scandal burgers and fries which the gaming press not only refused to cover or address but in fact colluded and collaborated suppress all discussion of it on any platform they could influence (including reddit).

This of course created tension and building of pressure. And if the press had simply held to their guns and refused to cover literally who's sex drama, maybe that pressure would have diffused and everyone would have forgotten about it. Instead, they unleashed a bunch of inflammatory articles simultaneously, which caused the whole fucking thing to explode.

In all honesty I thought games journalism was corrupt as fuck before GG happened. But their failure to dig up anything juicy made me realise it really is nothing more than a bunch of shitty bloggers looking for clicks. They are retards and sometimes assholes but there was so little dirt to be found that people had to spin insane shit just to justify how mad they were about it. The people attacking the journalists ended up looking obsessive and insane as it became more and more clear that there wasn't really anything there to be mad about other than "waaah this person is a liberal!"
You can hate liberals all you want, I certainly do, but they're entitled to their own opinion and it's unethical to try shut them down just because you disagree with them.

What you have to remember is for 99% of people in GG it was their first community. The first time they felt they were a part of something. You see their twitter accounts and they don't have any actual friends, just GG accounts following other GG accounts. It must have felt great, every day feeling like you were achieving so much together. GG was in a constant state of "IT'S HAPPENING!" and "THE FIRE RISES!" but nothing was ever actually happening.
For so many people it was their first taste of being listened to, and having """friends""" which is sad as fuck but also why so many will forever be blind to how it was a load of shit. They can't see past what it meant to them on a personal level, even if all that really was was a "movement" that uncovered nothing but made a lot of lonely people feel good.

The members who had any semblance of a real life have moved on but for the loner autists with nothing else, GGs honor must still be defended every chance possible.

My brother became vegan because he couldn't rationally justify consuming products which involve animals when we could live without them, not necessarily because he empathized with them. On the topic of whether it's justified or not he was an encyclopedia, but when I asked him what we're supposed to do with all these animals once we all have stopped eating them, he had to pause to think. As long as we stopped consuming animals, he could put his conscience at ease, but he didn't really think past that point.
