Because I'm playing Builders 2 and trying to visualize a nice oasis-side cabin and fill it with fish

I already did and I married the best girl

Already did and finished it bro

but have you played the best version on PS2?

Because I beat it yesterday. I enjoyed the family thing, but the other potential party members suck balls and having Bianca and your daughter on your active party makes no sense, so I had to rely on a random Golem as my 4th character.

I regret not marrying her.

Because it has anime artstyle

Because I still need to finish DQ Builders 1 and DQ3

I beat DQ1 and 2, though

>V
>Not smash bros Ultimate

But the best dragon quest game is Dragon Quest Swords: the Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors

>played SNES version 3 times (Bianca, Bianca, Bianca)
>played PS2 version 2 times (Bianca, Bianca)
>played DS version 3 times (Bianca, Debora, Debora)

I pirated dq11 what am i in for

she's a fucking bitch. why does everyone keep jerking her off every thread? I don't get it

That's the plan as soon as I finish IV

It's pretty boring. The only mildly entertaining one was VIII. Best Dragon Quest games are the spinoffs Monsters and Builders. Main series is overrated as fuck.

Because I'm still on 3

Because bitches are hot.

I got to a good point and then lost my save points and lost the will to continue, it was a good game up to that point.

Also, I had already lost my save file once, many years ago, I was even further in.

Not really a fan of the monster collection though, I'd rather only have human friends.

>played DS version 3 times (Bianca, Debora, Debora)
Same.
I tried going with Nera on my third time, but she seemed kinda boring and I felt bad about cucking the other guy.

>can't take some bants from a woman
For shame, user.

because I've already played it.

I'm still working on 4. I've just killed what's his face at Alena's castle and trying to figure out where to go next.

lol

Just look up a walkthrough bro, there's no point in wasting time wandering around if you can't find out where to go next

>playing VI
>not blood related

Attached: 1531511409521.png (1066x893, 671K)

V is fantastic, but III isn't only the best DQ game but possibly the best jrpg ever made. It does just about everything right and is easily my most replayed rpg.

Attached: DQ3at30f (1).jpg (977x608, 167K)

Why play it when I can just fap to the loli

Nigga you gay

Attached: 1564258432081.jpg (497x490, 55K)

>bants

You've finally lost it user if you think making you sleep on the floor on your wedding night is just "bantz". There's a reason the creator thought she was a joke pick and that's because no normal healthy human being would put up with her shit and it's pretty fucking sad that one or two lines hours into the game at the very last moment make you feel like being treated like dog shit was all worth it.

because the people on this board are cowards and degenerates who want to be stepped on

Fuck off cucks.

I just started playing it in Japanese and the start premise is kind of silly. Your dad died doing something so you should probably do it now that you're 16. What?

It's really stort light in general. If plots are super important to you than III might not be your thing. III is almost strictly about good old fashioned combat and exploration

Theres a pretty ridiculous twist at the end though

I'm just not sure I can call it the best JRPG if that aspect of it is so lacking. Would probably give that to one of the SMT games (1, 2, or 3).

Since this seems like a good game to get into what's the best version to play?

I've not played the early SMT titles myself so those could be right up my alley. The reason I hold III up so high is the fantastic class system and the incredibly solid battle mechanics. It's rare to play a jrpg where buffs and debuffs are so well balanced (which admittedly smt is also pretty good at). Everything is snappy and fast and strategic. It also has what is IMO the perfect balance between structure and openness. You never really feel aimless, but the game really opens up and let's you do things at your own discretion. Very few jrpgs over played have met that sort of balance, its usually one way or the other

DS. PS2 is great as well but I'm not sure if theres a translation patch for it

PS2 for 3D graphics(YMMV, most people here think they're ugly) and an orchestral OST, and/or if you really hate text-only accents
DS for more content and an official localization

>calling other people cucks when he's such a wimp he's not able to tame a wild mare
Shame on you.

Bianca is for canonfags
Nera/Flora is for NTRfags
Deborah is for waifufags

Can we at least agree on this?

Attached: CascadeCave.png (800x558, 919K)

because i already did that about a month ago and the Slime Knight is bro tier

Pardon me, just the actual best Dragon Quest game and best competitive multiplayer game on the DS, coming through.

Attached: Rocket Slime.jpg (342x306, 36K)

I was reminded to continue just today. Thanks Yea Forums

Where is this from?

I don't know which version to play.

>Dragon Quest 5
Is there a fan translation for the PS2 version? I've only ever played it on DS and I just replayed 4 on DS. I want to replay 5 on PS2.

Attached: 1564369820269.jpg (1920x1080, 297K)

It's funny how V is fast becoming overrated
You think it's the smashfags suddenly hopping on the bandwagon?

My personal favorite (at least atm) is III, but I'm pretty sure Yea Forums's liked V even before Smash

ps2 version is indeed best version. handheld is never best version dont care how many improvements or extra whores to marry are included

Yes there is.

>tfw DQIV PS1 translation never ever

Why would V get a Smash-boost? The playable Hero's are the protags from 3, 4, 8, and 11, not 5.

>not following in ur fathers footsteps trying to succeed where he failed in his honor
soi america laddies and gentelman

thanks a bunch user

Attached: 1564363232157.png (447x697, 67K)

ps2 5 is great the combat is so fast and satisfying because of the better sound

yeah if anything, the Smashfags would gravitate towards VIII and XI, seeing how they're two of the more well-known DQ games in the West

Holy fuck my heart

9 and 10 are the odd ones out. It would be like counting FF11 and 14 which aren't really the same.

Dragon Quest 9 is a single player game though, although it's pretty different I'd still count it with the other ones.
It had a cool class system, it wasn't one of the best but I had fun playing it.
It also had infinite content at the time, shame that nintendo wi-fi is dead.

The first DQ game I’m starting with is Dragon Quest 3, which I’m enjoying so far. What’s your opinion on 3 and where should I start next?

It's main focus is more multiplayer and mostly just doing post content not really main story focus like normal DQ games.
8 or 11 if you want a more 3D modern version of Dragon Quest. DQ4 and 5 if a more traditional JRPG.

3's a really good game, its class system still holds up and it's one of the more open-ended games in the franchise. I guess the main downside is that none of your party members have any personalities, but that isn't exactly essential, just invent your own
Word of advice, there's a turning point in 3's story that'll only make sense if you played the first two games

Because I'm playing IV and I want to play them all in order.

I haven't played any DQ yet. I probably would start with the SNES era though

Those are only Dragon Quest 5 and 6 and the remakes for DS are the best version to play for both games. There's a PS2 of Dragon Quest 5 with symphonic music which is lovely but DS has more content and personally looks better than the big chunky 3D models.

I want too but I don't have the will to power trough it, every DQ game I have played has an exploit that let's you have a super OP weapon early or a slime island to lvl quick, DQvii doesnt have those and im at endgame, got my wife back (super low lvl), and im lvl 32,everything kicks my ass, what do.

So V, VI and the I-III remakes?
There's literally no reason to play the SNES version of V, play it on either PS2 or DS
VI's fan translation is unfinished, play the DS version instead
II has a game breaking bug
I and III are fine(for the most part)

Attached: dq62.png (256x224, 32K)

I don't get the appeal of the series. The things that fans claim are its strengths are what I see as its biggest weaknesses.

Should have started with 1. Playing 3 has absolutely NO impact of you haven't played 1

Beat it on Monday. God tier RPG with a very satisfying ending, despite the bland final boss. The bishop felt like a more well done villain than Nimzo.

I've beaten V twice, and the story was touching but it's definitely not amongst my favorites. Still a great 9/10, but I highly prefer VIII, IV, VII, III or XI.

I really wanna play Builders. Is there any point in playing 1? Or should I skip right to 2.

you picked a good spot, there's references to 1 you'll probably miss but 1's just a terrible game overall.

1 is 90% grind but honestly it's strangely enjoyable. Since the game is based on you retracing your ancestor Erdirck's step to reach the Dragon Lord which is actually interesting. Dragon Quest 2 however just feel like they expanded DQ1 to a massive degree but never really gave it the time it needed to balance it. So DQ2 just becomes is insanely difficult JRPG that you really should only play until you get frustrated with and need a guide.

1 is good but just start with 2. I’ve put over 100 hours into it already.

Do you also have to play DQ2 before playing DQ3 ?

I played the first 10 minutes of DQ2 on smartphone, and that short time made me appreciate better a whole chapter in Builders 2.

DQ1 gives slightly more but there is some bits and pieces from DQ2 (mostly talking to NPC) that adds more to DQ3. But you don't really need to beat either one to really enjoy DQ3 just play a good bit of it.

I haven't played 2, mostly because i hear it's brutal in general.

Golem and Orc King were top tier, carried my ass for the superboss fight

I played it for a while, it was okay, but too easy. I'll go back to it eventually.

So are the english versions (Dragon warrior) on par with the original DQ experience or should I just play the Japanese versions?

If you read moonrunes then you should probably just play it that way

Is the extra boss worth the trouble? The one in IV DS was really underwhelming. Literally just a palette swap, so I just moved onto VI.

I didnt even realize he was an optional boss till I beat him and nothing happened. I spent more time in the last half of DQV lost than anything else

I see. I'll pass then.

Probably that one arcade game which throws literally all the Dragon Quest characters together.

because its like 60 dollars online right now

She's interesting, she's funny, she has the best combat stats out of all the wives, and she cares about you, despite the way she acts.

The devs won't be getting any money from that, so just get a rom.

because it looks like a Dragon ball knock off

"Kill the Demon King" is a meme low effort plot used in isekai, but it's become the stereotype because of DQ. Demon murdered your father, and threatens the world. You just gonna let him get away with that?

It's absolutely nothing like it, though.

Got III through VI, looking forward to playing them for the first time. I hate to seem like a sperg but III seems a bit dated. Should I skip it?

Attached: 1510541388703.jpg (640x637, 91K)

>Should I skip one of the best games in the franchise
What you should do is go play 1, 2 and 3. Just get the SNES versions. Be warned, 2's patch includes a couple of game freezing glitches involving the 2nd prince, though they're pretty easy to avoid.

>Dragon Quest 5, aka the best Dragon Quest game
Uh actually it's Dragon Quest 8, sorry to inform you

I'll check out the first game but I'm going to skip 2. I've heard its a nightmare. Thanks for the tip, friend.

It seems as if you've made a typo in your post, user! The best Dragon Quest game is Dragon Quest 4!

The first game is quite different from the rest since you go on a journey all by yourself, but it's a quite charming game and it's pretty short, going by JRPG standards, so definitely give it a go.
I don't know where 2 gets that reputation, I just played it like last month and it was a perfectly fine game. I guess it lacks directions at times and it's a bit slow to explore the world, but just follow a guide once you get the ship.

>the best Dragon Quest game
Its actually VII

It's on my backlog. I keep hearing good things about it, but I never get around to it.

Cute!

Attached: sof.jpg (500x500, 99K)

I started at 3 and went in order from there. I don't regret it.

>one or two lines hours into the game at the very last moment
Although that's the "nice Debora moment" commonly posted, there are lots of dialogue where Debora is friendly to you, and Debora is more considerate in areas that have painful memories for the hero like the town from his childhood that's all fucked up in the present.

Shut the fuck up, cuck. Bianca>

That's not where they spent their wedding night, though. They have a separate house for that. Nera and Crispin use it too after they get married.
How about actually playing the game instead of just reading about it?

But I am playing it on PS2 babe

oh shit the movie is tomorrow right?
will a raw camrip get uploaded somewhere?

japs dont really do camrips

well then, gonna have to wait for the dvd/bluray release

All DQs are good user, there's no need for a tier list.
My favorite is 4.

I'm still on my first playthrough. It's boring as shit. And no, your spoiler does not make me more excited to get back into it.

Cuz I’m playing DQ 4 first nigga

Can you catch fish?

>he can't tame bitchy women
At least try not to out yourself, man.

Because she's a lot better than "nice rich girl" and "childhood friend you knew for a week"

I hate how Toriyama draws almost every male character with huge muscles, his art style for DQV makes Madason looks like a buff dwarf since he draws everyone short for DQ

He stopped since 7
6 and the 3 remakes were the worst time for muscles

Attached: fyggs.jpg (1920x1200, 1.95M)

Toriyama only can draw twinks now, just like Araki.

I'm looking to get Dragon Quest Builders 2 - I'm leaning towards the switch version, but looking at amazon the PS4 version is £30 and the Switch version is £42, any idea why there's such a massive difference?

Because cartridges cost more to make, at least that's what Nintendo says. Get the PS4 version since the switch's framerates are awful

Reminder that Eight and Jessica’s voice actors are married. Canon IRL couple.

Kinda want to be able to play it in handheld mode, though admittedly when I tried the demo the controls were painful to use with the handheld switch button layout.

Alright then, I guess getting it on PS4 can be an incentive to get my living room in working order.

Rethink your life choices, buddy.

He should have been the final boss instead of the random fatso.

The #1 reason to marry Debora is so your son looks exactly like Pankraz

Because I'm working my way through 7

Get your paws up motherfucker I can take you myself

Attached: SlimeKnight.jpg (203x249, 9K)

DQ should never have gone complete 3d, 2.5d was peak dq aesthetics

the final boss only being mentioned by name and finally appearing at the very end is like a DQ tradition

I agree Ladja was obviously the more compelling villain though
I consider him the Protag's final boss, considering the protag is not the actual hero

I'm interested in XI S mostly because of the 2D mode

Shame they were lazy with it and chose to not animate the monster sprites even though they could have taken sprites from older games.

Oh I hadn't heard that, that is a bit of a shame

I see That DQ 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6 are all available on the SNES. Is it worth playing those versions?

because I'm not one of those incels that plays singleplayer games.

Attached: 1533109720369.jpg (640x648, 65K)

This.

1, 2 and 3, definitely. 4, 5 and 6 are better on the DS.

Alright... What changes between 5 and 6 on the SNES vs DS? What did they add on the DS version?

This guy is a better party member in 5 than most of the humans.

Not him but 5 got best wife Deborah

Oh, so marriages are exclusive to the DS versions?

Yes he absolutely is. Can equip heavy armor and great weapons, gets lots of healing spells

slime knight can carry you through the whole game

There can now be 4 active party members in battle, instead of 3. Enemies appear in concomitantly larger groups, even in the early parts of the game when there are 3 or fewer party members anyway.
The AI modes are updated to match the ones used in Dragon Quest VII.
Stat gains on level-up are now randomized.
Commands can be given to individual characters.
Party chat is now implemented, with human characters having full dialogue and monster companions alternating between two sentences.
The Bag is available from the start of the game; so the Vault is replaced with a Bank.
Items now sell for 50% of their purchase price, instead of 75%.
Pots, barrels, and similar objects can now be picked up and thrown.
The casino now offers poker in addition to its other games; the party's slime companion, if any, can be entered in the Slime Race.
The first-level ice spell, Crack (Hyado), can now be cast by the hero's daughter; in the original game there was no way to obtain it.
The effects of stat-buffing spells now expire after a certain number of turns.
The "Paralysis" status effect will now wear off after 6~9 turns.
An extra-difficult bonus dungeon, Estark's Labyrinth, is unlocked after completing the game.
A third Heavenly Bride is introduced: Debora Briscoletti, the older sister of Nera. Unlike the other two brides, Debora is temperamental and intimidating, generally scaring off all potential suitors. Due to her aggressive personality, she is more of a physical fighter than the other brides, and can equip a wider selection of weapons.
Debora appears along with Rodrigo & Nera at the start of Generation I.
A new mini-game called Bruise the Ooze can be played, utilizing the DS stylus.
Several more monsters are added and recruitable including: Archdemon & Jailcat
Great sabrecubs are no longer encountered in the game, leaving Saber to be the only one.
Healing Spells known by Pankraz and Honey can be used out of battle.

And that's just for V.

>tfw i would rather marry sofia than any of the marriage candidates in V

Attached: 1534266542903.jpg (575x595, 436K)

No, you just can't marry Debora in previous versions.

That seems fucking insane, that's a lot of changes.
Damn, that's awesome. Thank you user, guess I'll have to play the DS versions now.

Just how fluffy is she down there?

Attached: c92.jpg (750x1500, 529K)

I think it's best in the VII remake. 3D but it still has the top down environment, plus it looks good. And the 3D was really well done.

DQXI looks really nice though.

"Why aren't you eating elephant shit? It's the biggest, best shit"

Because the best of shit is still a piece of shit

Most versions of DQ5 just give you two marriage options: Bianca, or Nera. DQ5 on DS adds Deborah as a third option, kind of hamfisted in there but she's available if you want her. Or just hate the first two options.

play the series in order.
2 is underatted, people usually site path to Rhone as the reason why they hate it. I Iove path to Rhone

I'll need some time to think about it

Attached: sweatl.jpg (537x537, 173K)

if you dont like blank slate party members skip 1-3

>generic childhood friend with annoying accent that masturbates to some one off memory about exploring a haunted castle
>generic nice girl who already has a love interest and is forced to marry you
>based strong wife who is useful in your party and after some time cares about you and isn't boring to talk to

The choice is obvious bros

Attached: 85cc42f145d4ec2fc5ec57acc2464e46.jpg (700x700, 113K)

I already played it and I didn't need Smash to convince me to do so like 90% of the people on the fucking board.

If it were obvious you wouldn't be trying to shill her so hard

>interest in Dragon Quest in the west spikes because of Builders and Smash
>"you bunch of bandwaggoning cunts never cared about DQ before reeeeeee"
you should be happy that the rise in popularity might bring us more localizations instead of being all high and mighty about how you were into it before it was cool

I just never got around to play them before, don't be a jackass.

Attached: Well excuse me.jpg (480x360, 27K)

>that masturbates to some one off memory about exploring a haunted castle
That's why I chose her.

I give Bianca a pass on her ghost-busting obsession because, if you think about it, that's a pretty big adventure for 99.99% of the people in the DQ world. Most of them seem to hardly ever leave their little villages.

Most people complain about not being able to find anything in the goddamn game. Nearly nothing is even hinted at by any conversation and so it literally becomes a quest to do every single thing in the world until you happen across the five crests. That's fine if you're 10 and have nothing else to do with your time for a few months, but most people aren't going to spend all their time pulling lottery tickets or fighting through the tournament just to see if it's something which MIGHT be important. And that's to say nothing about actually finding the Magic Key.

The game is far more tolerable if you're willing to hit up a guide when things get obscure. I'll agree that Rhone wasn't too bad. Sure, instakill enemies were annoying, but that's something like two or three return-to-town extra when you're doing that anyways just grinding through the area. And then, you just run from everything when you're making your endgame trial.

>Tfw each and every single DQ game can ne played on a Nintendo Console
Based as fuck

Imagine being this much of an elitist over a JRPG series
The more the merrier, I say

because i already beat it retard

What makes the PS2 version better?

It's a fucking travesty that he didn't make it in to Smash instead of DQ11 or DQ4

And she was, like, 8. Playable child characters are kind of rare even in Dragon Quest, and Bianca at that age was already casting spells and shit

>finding the Magic Key.
What? That's piss easy, dude. I think you're thinking of the sunken ship. Now, that does suck balls indeed.

the japs would have RREEEEEE'd over him using a sword instead of a staff

No kidding. I'm curious if it happened during development or before.

So fucking make him unique and let him use his staff will having the same move list or something

it's because he's not the Hero of his own game

>Main series is overrated as fuck.
Kill yourself. The original Dragon Quest still has some of the best music ever in a video game.

Semantics.

DQX NEVER EVER

Attached: RUAAAAAAA.png (554x566, 319K)

must have just been lucky then beacuse I never had any issues finding anuthing in the original.
Funnily enough the only time i was stuck was in the rebalanced mobile version because they moved one of the crests. I remember the enemies, story, charaters and locales far more, I'd argue they're some of the best in the series.

Though he does appear in the final smash, instead of "super saiyan Goten".

Good. Fuck MMOs, fuck Squeenix and fuck you.

Hey, PSO2 is getting an English release, anything can happen

the Hero in V can't cast a lot of the spells that the other heroes can for plot-related reasons

You knew in-game for a week. Are you unable to expand your imagination to events outside of what is immediately displayed on the screen?

Feels bad man
They region locked it because japs don't want filthy white piggus to play the best dq.
Honestly we're never getting it because its just not popular enough.

Because I'm currently playing Dragon Quest Builders 2.
Shit's great I got the trowel.

Please, most of these faggots won't venture in DQ outside of Smash. You'll see way more XI threads definitely but that's on it being a Nintendo console than Smash.

Fuck you too, you should have got into them instead of letting Smash kick you in the ass to do so.

The more people you let in, the more shit comes.

I didn't know I needed to

>Please, most of these faggots won't venture in DQ outside of Smash.
And yet your initial comment was that people are going to play V because of Smash

That remake sucked all the soul out of the original

>lazy
It's literally meant to replicate nes nostalgia retard. The nes games didn't have animated sprites.

Your post sucked all the soul out of this thread

The puzzles at the start of the game filtered your ass

>coming from a fag that 110% likes getting dommed with a strap-on up his ass and vocal abuse hurled at him
Good thing we know you left your masculinity behind the moment you said you fell for the "feisty woman" meme.

Uh yeah okay whatever you say buddy

I already did.
In fact, it was the game that brought me back to old 2D jrpgs.
Now I'm waiting for the movie. Though I wish it was an anime instead.
Why the fuck its called "Your Story" anyway?

OBJECTIVELY BEST VERSIONS TO PLAY:

>Not playing GBC 3
I agree with everything else though.
We're never going get to play 10 are we bros.

I know the DS or PS2 version is recommended but I started into the SNES version with a translations patch and I'm really enjoying it. I know I'm playing an inferior version but I'm invested into it now. Anything major I should know about version differences?
Poking around I already know:
>3 active party members instead of 4
>2 waifu choices instead of 3
>no knick-knacks
>no party talk
>fewer recruitable monsters and harder to recruit
Anything else major waiting to bite me in the ass?

No Deborah.

Give me a rundown on how to get into the series, which version is the best version and where to get the roms.

Play 5 on ds or ps2, just like the OP implies. That's the one with the best story, most would agree.

enemies have different stats due to you using 3 party members instead of 4

Yes, in Moon too

Been meaning to play the SNES as well. Just to see what minor changes between the two versions there might be. Enjoying it?

You need translation patches to play 3 on the SNES right?

Mobile version of 1-3 works too mostly because QoL on DQ2 which is very much needed.

I can see the appeal of most games I dislike. They have the traits that their fans claim they have, I just value those traits differently.

Dragon Quest fans, on the other hand, seem like they're living in a parallel universe where the series is completely different. The games I've played have none of the properties that fans claim they have, and are incredibly weak in areas that fans claim are their greatest strengths. It would be like if DMC fans were all extolling the virtues of DMC2 because it had the deepest story and characterization in a series defined by its excellent storytelling: it crosses the line from "these people have different taste in games" to "these people are completely incomprehensible."

I'm kinda sad that he didn't have his son with him when he shows up in the FS. I know that it would've been giving someone 'special treatment' but DQ5 has always been considered one of the best. Also, it would have been a nice nod to this.

Yeah, I covered that in the waifu section. I'll probably go Bianca as I enjoyed the ghost adventure.

Oh weird, I would assume it works in my favor. Not sure how I'm going to decide team comp late game but maybe I'll shuffle my party members around like it wants me too.

I'm enjoying it quite a bit. Looking how it compares to 1-4 original versions it definitely feels like it hits the sweet spot for me. Where mechanics aren't too archaic and the sprite work gets across just what it needs to. I'm a real sucker for the SNES soundfont and aesthetic though, sadly it is pretty clear it's an early SNES game and they'd get better at the sprite work late in it's life. Not as pretty as Chrono Trigger but tells a much different focused story. I'm honestly just psyched if I can enjoy it as a whole 1/5 as much as I do Chrono Trigger.

yes it's 9.99 for the aquarium pack

DQ5 style is almost like FF4 in that it's kind of like a slightly upgrade NES game but not by a whole lot. But by that point it tells you gear stat changes before buying which DQ4 just say if someone can equip a piece or not.

>I don't get the appeal of the series
the appeal is the simplicity
after decades of JRPGs every one becoming more and more bloated with unnecessary shit DQ is a huge breath of fresh air due to the simple fact that it's as basic as a turn based RPG can get

even if you can't see the appeal in less is more, DQ basically made the JRPG genre.
all the shit you love in JRPGs is thanks to DQ

>But by that point it tells you gear stat changes before buying which DQ4 just say if someone can equip a piece or not.
Yeah, that's the kind of shit I'm talking about. I can deal with having to cast Identify on items to know what the fuck they do but not knowing if I should buy a piece of armor just fucks with my whole flow.
I also really like the whole monster taming system even if it is pretty limited. Makes me think I should clear some space on my 3DS for when I'm ready to play 8(with the orchestral patch obviously).

I didn't really think about monster taming all that much when I played DQ4. All that mattered was having a healer and the rest could just be anything else. Yeah played DQ4 NES just a month ago and while really enjoyed it I had to have a gear chart out to not only see stats but what stuff certain weapons might do.

I mean when I played Dragon Quest 5 regarding monster taming.

I assume monster taming loses a bit of it's luster when you've got kids late game and they can do anything the monsters could do plus more.
Part of the reason I can understand going with the DS version as having an extra slot means you're actually open to experimentation.
Good to know about the gear chart if I play 4, it does sound like a necessity.

Kind of. Once you are collecting everyone there's only really so much more gear to get. But knowing what they do in battle is the most annoying thing since Torneko just say "you can use it in battle" WHICH ISN'T VERY HELPFUL!
