Why do all games make war seem like fun? What are some war games that aren't propoganda for militaries?

Because it is fun
Now go protect Israel

Join the military.

I dunno, most strategy games seem like the very antithesis of fun to me.

Xcom

>NOOOOOO YOU CAN'T MAKE WAR FUN IT'S A TRAGEDY INNOCENT PEOPLE DIE

>tfw no survival horror war game where you play as a deserter roaming the ravaged countryside, hiding from both your former company and enemy patrols, all the while suffering the effects of shellshock and possibly hallucinating from starvation

>Why do all games make war seem like fun?
Because a GAME, by definition of the word, has to be fun?

Does it? Are horror games fun?

This guy is right. Spec Ops The Line isnt fun.

If I was a better programmer I'd steal that idea.

Yes

war would be fun with respawns and no pain. everyone would do it. id love to go nuts with an automatic weapon and have people shooting back at me if it didnt hurt , and i could respawn in bed at home.

but here we are.

>Are horror games fun?
Yes? The fun is in getting scared without actually putting yourself in danger. Quite similar to games about war - the fun comes from knowing that you won't die IRL.

this war of mine

Because making a video game with bad core gameplay to teach you a lesson, no matter how worthy the lesson is, is a terrible commercial decision and a terrible artistic decision too

>war would be fun if it was not how it is
indeed.

also check out the porn parody, This Whore of Mine

Um sweaty, we don't use the word 'fun' around here.

he thought so too, no one hurt him and he respawned in a prison cell

Just go play paintball or something.

Red Orchestra 2 might still make war entertaining, but it doesn't glorify it.

>Crawling through a muddy ditch under machine gun fire
>Artillery starts hammering our position
>All that's left of the person infront of me is a leg
>Character too shellshocked to see or move properly, wait for the artillery to pass as I listen to the groans and moans of the dying around me

There was this

youtube.com/watch?v=7IKED3XNYZs

but the funding collapsed and they dropped it

This is what Yea Forums says too though
>"fun" and "comfy" are just buzzwords

Airsoft.

Insurgency sandstorm, too bad turkroaches had to ruin what could've been a great single player experience just because some kurds are kicking their asses

was six days in fallujah ever released?

realism isnt equal to no propaganda. Squad is realistic too, but it doesn't show the bad sides of war, it's just showing the EPIC combat

What's his name again?

>insurgency
>realistic
The voices are done really well sure and you can tell they were prepping for single player production value but in no way is insurgency a realistic shooter. YPJ former slave to daesh with CIA handler story could've been great but again, turks got triggered

XCOM 2 handled death perfectly.
>Plaque with your fallen soldiers
>Squaddies at the bar drinking their sorrows away
>That satisfying revenge when you execute a perfect mission
>Every turn feels like things could go sideways at any minute
Shit I need to play some XCOM now.
