Finally getting into this series. Bought all 3 games.

Any pro-tips? What build should I go for? Sword and board? And more importantly, do I play online or offline? Heard so many horror stories about getting ganked, and I don't really care about co op or PvP.

Level up anything that you want, creating specific builds is for faggots.

Play online, messages can help you and invasions are pretty weird nowadays

If you want easy mode pick a huge ass sword and heavy ass armor. Don't worry about getting invaded because even if you do by some asshole with over leveled weapons (which you will) there is a cooldown timer on invasions. Play online, summon, invade, do it all.

rapier and zwei/greatclub for ds2. cheese the entire game. bonus points if you pick up dark magic early enough

>pick a huge ass sword
So 2 handed? But Yea Forums kept talking how a tower shield or something is super easy retard proof mode in these games, or am I misremembering?

I want to play a medieval knight if possible. Heavy armor and either 2 handed or sword and board.

Play online and go in blind.

Fuck I meant hexes.

Dont come here and just enjoy them.

The best protip is to just go on blind and enjoy it so you have an authentic experience, but I guess getting spoofed information on how to play a game that is supposed to make you learn as you go and learnt he world and explore and absorb it and feel and feel hopeless and alone works too

Return them. Not the series for you.

Shoot the tail off of the drake under the bridge and get a OP sword! There you go op! Enjoy the game being dumbed down to the level you need

Don't listen to this faggot

>just go on blind
I get easily frustrated when it's taking me more than 5 times to beat a boss, and I'm also a bit autistic when it comes to character builds. I might just restart the whole game from scratch if I find out that my build is flawed.

How hard are these games anyway? I beat Dragon's Dogma + DLC 100% and it didn't feel too hard. Heard DS2 is a bitch, but I'll probably leave it for the last. Currently considering going with 1 > 3 > 2.

Lmfao, these games aren't for you at all.

beat 2 and 3 with this bad boy, honestly it feels like ez mode

zweihander for dark souls 1, you find it at the very start. Level str/endurance/vigor

protip: go in blind and skip 2

Why in the fuck did you buy souls

Fuck you man, I'll get through it, fucking watch me.

I also beat Hollow Knight FWIW and people say it's pretty much 2D Dark Souls.

>upset dying 5 times
Yeah with the help of Yea Forums and the entire internet and cheesing it
Why even play

>more than 5 times to beat a boss

>zweihander for dark souls 1, you find it at the very start. Level str/endurance/vigor
Thanks, seems like a solid build.

>wants to experience souls
>literally asking for help already
Just play the fucking games faggot, even if we told you what to you'd still suck your entire first playthrough

>all this gate keeping
This place has gone downhill.

id play offline for das1, it's a lot of cheaters now if you ever do get invaded. das2's pvp is the best factor about it so play that online, play 3 online as well. build in 1 doesn't really matter, just pick a weapon you like and dump souls into whatever its requirements are. 40 is the softcap, past 40 you get diminishing returns on scaling. don't bother with armor, it doesn't do much. wear what looks good but make sure you're fast rolling or at least medium rolling. get gud with rolling, you have iframes for a reason. in das2 one of your stats increases roll iframes, level it to like 21 or something (been years since I played 2, look up the caps for that stat to make sure. your rolls are trash at base level in that game)
in 3 a lot of mobs have kind of relentless attacks, so quicker weapons are easier but again you can build pretty much whatever for pve. they're not really hard games in that aspect, you can use what you like although some weapons are better than others

Easiest and Simplest build: pick club, go full strength build and bonk your enemies to death.

>5 times or rage
>comparing to HK and DD
Is this thread bait? Enjoy spending 7 hours and 100 deaths on them.

Nigger seriously? I've been playing action RPG's since Morrowind and Gothic, how fucking bad can it be?

Hollow Knight is only hard if you get the true ending

Fuck you
Refusing to hold some pussies hand isn't the same as saying he can't play
Put both hands on your onions and stop typing

Okay, real talk.

Start as Bandit, as soon as you get to Firelink, raise your Strength to 16. Grab the Zweihander from the graveyard next to Firelink. You will be able to wield it in two hands. Pump points into your VIT, END, and STR. Once you hit 24 STR you will be able to wield the Zweihander in one hand, but you'll probably want to keep two-handing it. It's the best newb weapon since the R2 will knock enemies down and it does great damage.

Why even bother playing at all

>I was fumbling in the dark so everyone else should too
No.

Don't forget to make Giant Dad build when DS1. It's pretty solid and fucks over almost everyone during invasions and PvP.

Almost if that's the point of the game

Offline. claymore + medium shield is what used on my first run.

Longsword and Claymore as a backup

Online and cheat your stats

Dark or Flame?

Play the game with no advice from anyone and completely alone, and with humanity/ember activated so you can be invaded and have your ass kicked.

Just look up guides and play offline. The fanbase is terrible, but the games are legit.
