I'm playing Blue Lions on hard classic and the game is piss easy compared to Conquest. I never struggle. I don't know if it has to do with doing a ton of paralogues, but it seems TOO easy.

Her route isn't bad, it's shorter, feels incomplete, and Edelgard is a love or hate kind of character.

Gets a bit harder in timeskip because they throw a lot of siege mages at you but yeah, it's pretty easy overall. Hopefully the new difficulties are good.

She's the most complex yet unlikable FE villain ever, despite being right in the middle of the pile as far as evilness goes. She lacks the cool factor or charisma of previous Red Axe Emperors, and the few good or conflicted bits in her just makes her seem like a gigantic hypocrite (at least prior villains owned up to their faggotry). I think it's because the writers themselves lacked direction when designing her, unlike the other lords.

You are basically the leader who takes up Rhea’s position in her absence, and you deliver righteous Deus Vult on the Flame Emperor. Claude makes you into a ruler and fucks off, which is cheaper version of Church's ending.

I think they wanted to leave that up to player's own interpretation. Perhaps he truly survived and visited you back then, or you simply had a dream of him surviving. The game doesn't try to prove either one of the 2 true. So it's up to you.

Claude is functional on his own. The other two are insane and since you are the ultimate Mary Sue, only you can guide them.

I wish the routes had differed more and motivations changed depending on who you were against. It would have been more interesting if the other houses were more united against you or could function without Byleth.
Edelgard starts the war regardless, but if she had remembered her childhood better and talked to Dimitri earlier he might have been willing to give her a chance and without Byleth they get twisted to the extremes together against you. Everytime Echoes is mentioned I get the motivation to pick it back up, only to be reminded why I dropped it in the first place.
I'm at Nuibaba's Abode with Alm and Dolth's Keep with Celica and both of these maps are so fucking awful that I can't muster the strength to go on with this game.

Most players aren't really considering the ramifications of the overall story as a result. they just think oh Rhea was on their side in the beginning therefore the church has to be good, even though when you actually think about it, having the church control the world is not a good thing.

The issue is that there's rarely a situation where the access the extra support and range resources is a bad thing.
An ideal map to force the player to divide their forces would be a situation where you have two objectives and therefore need to handle two things at once to succeed.

Gameplay is about average, there are some really cool mechanics but the game is too easy (aside from the occasional fuck you difficulty spike.)
Story is overall fine, though there are a few hiccups and apparently Ed's route sucks. A way better morally ambiguous story than Fates
Visually the game is a mess, choppy framerate, poorly animated cutscenes, and while the artstyle isn't the worst we've seen it's also a dramatic downgrade from the 3ds games. Character design is pretty good, at least.

That would be useful if the enemy troups were always in search and destroy mode - so that you don't get overwhelmed, but seeing as they're content to sit on their hands until an unit is at the very fringe of their attack zone, it's rarely the case.

You do cover more ground and kill enemies that you can handle quicker that way though

I've only played Deer and I really don't see what the church is doing on a regular basis that's so wrong.

Rhea did ONE very questionable thing and is otherwise very touchy about people using her motherfu to gain power, but aside from that all she's doing is maintaining the status quo, which is peace.

The waifus are all written wonderfully as are the husbandos. Some of them hit you right in the feels depending on the route you’re on.

The characters are better written and some are the supports on average (you don't get stupid shit like stoning snakes to death over 3 acts) and they also serve to drop more lore and hints about the larger plot.

Waifu wise, you'll have a very nice panel to choose from but the supports aren't as blantantly romantic as Fates/Awakening since there is no wedding/child mechanic.
It's much closer to the previous FE games on that aspect.
