No idea and it sucks. I slept on Drakengard and Nier for unfortunately so long and never went in Automata threads when it released, then when I get to play it I can't discuss it on Yea Forums over the huge amounts of shitposting and the hate boner.

The open world in this game is quite poor and I'm sick of revisiting the same locations in this game over and over again for fetch or "kill this" quests.

I'm surprised because this was probably one of the recent JRPGs I played where most of the side quests actually added something to the story.

These are just the ones I remember off the top of my head but I'm sure there were many more. There were a couple of interesting side-quests like the rogue Yorha one but most were just very run-of-the-mill filler crap for me. The locales were also very limited in number and had very little depth to them. This game is at best like a 6.5 or 7/10.

Average when compared to what, with what? Gameplay? No more repetitive than anything else out there. I would even say it's above average. Story? The thing that confuses me is that there's a lot of Yoko Taro hate as well. He's pretty humble and at the very least nothing was out of the character for him in Automata.

Looks like to some people, pretentiousness just means that a lot of things are "in the open" so to speak. They're not trying to hide the symbolism and references. It's right there. Very much in your face. It is a bit annoying if you ask me but I wouldn't call it pretentious.
