If liked Kingdom Hearts 2's gameplay, will KH3 be satisfactory? Everyone talks about how shit it was, but I've never been much of a huge fan and got invested in the story, I just liked beating shit up with Donald and Goofy.

Absolutely not, it's a downgrade in almost every way imaginable.

It depends what you like about the gameplay. 3 is literally press x to win even on the hardest difficulties. There's no depth. It's very very easy and simple.

I never thought one game could completely kill my interest in a series. 3 was supposed to wrap everything up in a nice clean bow, but nope, check out this shitty phone game and look out for the sequel nobody is interested in anymore

I'd also recommend KH2.8 on the PS4 so you can play dream drop distance, the combat is solid in that game but no donald/goofy sadly

If you don't block or deflect on crit you'll get rekt in boss fights

There are no "autowins" if you're playing on crit. Especially in the first few worlds, your hp is minuscule and two hits will kill you, sometimes just one

Fuck the ending was such a mess. Not just unsatisfying, but they fucking rushed through half the character's arcs and none of it amounted to anything.

Roxas shouldn't have gotten a happy ending, especially one as rush and undeserved as what he got. He was the tragic character and should have stayed that way

i'm just going to assume you were too young to experience vanilla kh2.
that game was way too fucking easy. that cutscene where you met roxas then ended up not actually fighting him and just watching the cutscene of them fighting was lame as fuck. there was also absolutely nothing to do in postgame. basically no replayability. roxas prologue was pretty cool though, but it sorta had a reverse mgs2 effect on everyone (angry that sora wasn't playable because who the fuck was this blonde kid?) not to mention the trailers at the time showing some cool shit that was cut in the final game such as the behemoths in the 1000 heartless battle, and org 13 in hollow bastion.
we had to deal with vanilla kh2 for almost a decade in the US while everyone foamed at the mouth over all the extra cool shit japan got in final mix +

Vanilla KH2 had a ton of the same issues people have with vanilla KH3, namely the poorly balanced and ridiculously easy combat. it wasn't until FM brought crit, magic balance changes and the ridiculous amount of post game content that the combat system really shined

Between it being console only and not having the goddamned models ripped, and all the fucking fujos, no there doesn't seem to be anything. Most we got was some darkaqua fanart from the prelease

Don't forget blatant sequel hooking while stringing you along with a finale. Yeah, the the tagline was "The Story's not Over", but everything pointed to an end up until the post credits and there was no indication that it would go on after that besides the post credits.
