No, I did. I spent like 20 minutes flying around in that mission trying to find where to go, finding a small hole, and crashing. Then I just gave up because I'd already spent a bunch of time fighting the planes and didn't want to do it again.

Rewatching a video of it though it looks like I'm a total retard, because there are three gigantic, obvious, easy to fly through tunnels all right next to each other. Really have no idea how I missed them. And you don't even have to fight the enemy aircraft.

Agnus Dei itself is an ok song; It has a fantastic epic intro, one of the best, but it slows so far fucking down after that.
The main reason why Megalith suffers as a mission: You have BIG EPIC AIR BATTLE AGAINST THE YELLOW and then you're free to figure out the tunnel section in a leisurely manner. Fortress Intolerance, Unsung War, Valley of Kings, Chandelier all have REAL FUCKING URGENCY to them that Megalith totally lacks.

IMO 5 starts weaker than 4 or Zero. A lot of the early missions just kinda suck.

Valley of Kings for sure, especially if you include the first half of the mission. On higher difficulties it's a fucking BLAST, 1 or 2 missiles will kill you, so you hit the gas and you NEVER fucking stop.

I would recommend looking into experimental builds to fix the graphical issues. I was looking to fix them too and found that was the best solution.

There are a couple of massive autists on Yea Forums that do this.

There are a few little tricks I've identified. One is just basic shitposting, that's pretty identifiable. Samefagging is pretty obvious. When you see two shitposters in the same thread but they rarely reply to each other, that's a pretty big sign. Or if they do reply to each other but just spout the same talking points over and over instead of having an argumentative progression. Constantly bringing up particular topics and making a big deal out of them, that's another trick. There was a guy a few months ago when City of Heroes was being revived who got obsessed with one of the mods and was claiming they were a puppetmaster controlling everything. It seemed like a natural part of the controversy (it WAS a real controversy) but after that controversy ended this guy kept going and trying to stir up shit where there was none. Making claims without evidence, then samefagging replies to make it seem legitimate.

Related to that last one is "invisible" shitposting, where they pretend someone's shitposting when nobody's actually doing that. They can do this by replying to a poor random fucker who happened to post a buzzword, or they can "name and shame". That is, they can claim that there's a particular group shitposting or a particular person (usually ___fag, so like listfag or ACfag, or just the guy's name like Eric or whatever). That's a pretty common one, people haven't seemed to have caught on yet. If you see a guy bring up a NAME out of nowhere, or a blatantly obvious shitpost followed by someone going like "hey ___fag how's it going", that was an attempt to name and shame, and after that they'll spam the thread with shit like "wow ___fag is pathetic" or "lol fucking ___fag thinking we can't see his posts", stuff like that.

This gets confusing. The guy IS shitposting, but calling himself out as a tactic. He'll often be the one to identify himself / give himself a name so he can call himself out.

Not him but aside from the regular HOTAS support whinge, the graphics menu is pretty pitiful.
You can make the game look a fair bit better and reduce pop-in with some .ini edits, and the cockpit FOV is honestly nauseating but it always has been. Only way around it is a Cheat Engine script.

It was a fine PC port, it's very well optimized and even without the hidden options still looks far better than the console versions, and it's mod friendly which is becoming an exceedingly rare quality, especially from a jap game.

not so much because i want to go back, but because i wish we'd gotten the future i imagined at the time. it's not that 5 disappointed me, or that zero wasn't good, but the world had kind of moved on by the time they were released.
