In Arena you can visit every pixel on the map and it generates the area, with towns, scenery, encounters, etc. Modern edler scroll games wish they were this sophisticated

For example, Planescape Torment is a masterpiece, yet it's obviously an old and slow game that requires a lot of reading, and that's not for everyone.

But yeah if you need a reminder Daggerfall was praised upon its release as well. The only thing both games got knocked for are their bugs, so typical Bethesda shit.

i've tried morrowind like a dozen times, modded to shit and vanilla. It's such an old, shitty game. I played it for the first time when it came out on Xbox and even then it felt clunky and old. I can usually get past this, but it's aggressively bad with Morrowind. No amount of interesting dialogue or plot can make up for how shit the actual game experience is.
Deus Ex feels like a game that gets good when you reach the mid game, but I just can't get past those god-awful controls.
Bloodlines I don't remember playing much. I remember getting to the big tiddy vampire girl and stopping to fap. I maybe never played again after that.

I've tried to get into Arena but unfortunately it's just aged like milk. Daggerfall is superior to it in every way. Arena was good at the time, but there really is no reason to play it anymore aside from seeing where the TES series started.

It was the reason Morrowind was panned at launch.
People were upset their endless playground was substituted for a small 3D world.
Their 20+ factions were reduced to 8, their character building was reduced.
Basically TES3 was the death of the series and the start of the dumbing down.
Daggerfall improved on all the issues Arena had, Morrowind dropped everything for a more immersive world and a greater sense of accomplishment (thanks Todd).
99% of BS fans shit all over Morrowind when it launched, I can't be assed to find the forum posts right now.
Morrowind fans became the vocal minority and launched the hatred toward Oblivion and then Skyrim and eventually TES6 shitposting.
