I kind of want to get the Switch just for this, because it looks so comfy and exactly what I'm after. Is it worth it?

Yes. Expect crusty frames at times but it's fucking worth it.

Great game, but on Switch you'll hit frame drops. If you plan on making a huge town it'll get tough sometimes, but very comfy game.

The frame drops are more about the lighting are they not?

Both really. Direction of camera because of lighting etc sometimes gets it angry too.

If you’re intending to play docked most of the time i’d advise you get it elsewhere. I play on handheld primarily and its great and comfy

Wait until it's out on PC.

There are reports the handheld mode is actually more stable than docked because it's not 1080p.
If you're getting it on Switch, stick to handheld.

It's great. Get it on PS4 if you don't have a switch, it's got better load times and better shadows, but the switch does a pretty decent job. It's a load of fun and the best builder game made to date.

Own it on both ps4 and switch, the frame rate drops are few and far between. Did not suffer a frame drop until chapter 3 (third major section of the game).

I'm with you, they really have been overstated on here how the frames are. But there are some definite stutters, for me it started with the 2nd chapter and peaked in the 3rd. Haven't noticed any since leaving moonbrooke though.

sadly not going to happen

Get it but not on the Switch, it runs like absolute arse. Hell, the PS4 version also gets laggy as fuck at times. It just runs bad on everything, I guess.

Why would you want the version that looks and runs worse? What is wrong with tendies

It was my GOTY, if you like DQ definitely get this.

Couch coop?

It's definitely worth it.

Wanna do this again?

How is this one different from the first? Is it better or around the same?

>tfw not autistic enough to build on this scale

Found this list of differences:
>Whereas in Dragon Quest Builders you had to worry about your hammers and swords disintegrating over time, in this one, you don’t even have to give them a second thought. Your hammer is assigned to a button, your sword is assigned to a button, and that’s the end of it.
>Dragon Quest Builders 2 also introduces some new tools to make building more convenient, like a jug of endless water (for making pools and rivers) and a pair of gloves that lets you move blocks around manually without having to destroy and collect them first.
>Another example of the little improvements that really help Dragon Quest Builders 2: When you’ve got a quest or blueprint that requires you to make specific items, those items will now be highlighted when you open up your crafting station. Instead of just having to memorize the items you need to craft for, say, a small bedroom, you can now get a quick refresher in the crafting menu. Anyone who’s played the first game will understand how nice this is.
>You can make multiple items at once. Game-changing.
>In the first game, you’d level up each island’s village by building rooms and sticking decorations to rack up city points. Gain enough points and you’d gain a level, allowing the village to expand and thrive. In Dragon Quest Builders 2, you level up by collecting the little hearts your townspeople drop after you do them favors and build them conveniences. It’s far more flexible and satisfying, rewarding you more regularly than the last game’s rigid points system.
>There’s multiplayer! I haven’t tried it yet, but hey, multiplayer!
>You can get a glider, Breath of the Wild-style, to fly across long distances and land safely from great heights without taking any damage.
>There’s fast travel this time around, too. Each island has a number of points to which you can painlessly zoom with the single press of a button.

Part 1/2

>You can carry a basically unlimited number of items in your bag, which is very, very nice.
>In addition to the main islands, there are a handful of tiny areas with procedurally generated maps and goals that you can use to get new stuff to upgrade your home base, in case you were worried about running out of things to do.
>Under the right conditions, when you set down a construction blueprint, instead of having to place down every block yourself, your villagers will actually do it all for you, allowing you to play Construction Boss as your minions follow your every whim.

Part 2/2

Thanks user. That sounds nice. Might pick it up after I beat the first one.

is this procedural like Minecraft or is it all hand-crafted? like does it have a set end and progress like a normal Dragon Quest game?
I'm just wondering if there's replay value or not

It does, yes. You go traveling around a set of premade islands during the campaign which is where you get to build your stuff. Once the game is over you can just go back and keep building and living comfortably with your townsfolk.

It has a *lot* of hand-crafted content as well as many procedural generated islands.

How is multiplater in 2?

I don't have time to sit in front of a TV and just play video games all day.

Don't buy a console for one game

based

You're right
Also get Super Mario Maker 2 OP

The final world was pure kino, that part when you find the Skeleton Captain from the ship of the start of the game made me audibly gasp

Fun as hell with friends.

That was amazing. The entire last chapter was a wild ride. I loved riding the car around.

Yeah I lost my shit there.

The things you create actually get used by your residents and it is so damn satisfying to see your work get appreciated even by NPCs.

The story is a little long-winded but structured in a way that makes you keep going and not get bored

still don't know when I get to dress up my residents, I have so many outfits I dont need but love the look of

I got swept up in the hype and bought this game with no prior experience with Dragon Quest, it is absolutely fucking worth it.
