Is the Shb msq kinda front loaded?
I feel like the earlier quests in Lakeland and the first halves of Amh Araeng and Kholusia were so good it made the latter halves of these zones and Raktika kinda underwhelming. There are some high points like Vaulthry's attack on Lakeland and Ryne's journey to meet Minfilia but overall I just got less invested than when I first started Shb. Attacking Eulmore with your Scion buddies is nice but it kinda gets ruined once you think about how we ran from mere branches of the army for the whole game and now we're just gona attack its capital after Vaulthry's mass fortifications.
I'm queueing for jannie for the first time now, hopefully the rest of the story with Emet will reach the level of earlier msqs.

My only explanation for AST is this is an intentional effort to kill the job so they can delete it and put in a new healer for 6.0 from scratch. There's no way a job with much higher APM, constant target switching, and decision making should be so much weaker than one that spams nukes and occasionally casts an OGCD heal.

The idea behind a static is people will keep trying and accept criticism. There is a sense of commitment to completing the encounter and a level of coordination.
Pugs don't have that and can and do just leave the second they aren't getting carried. Obviously not every static is like this nor is every pug like this but in broad terms.

All of the Scions would get absolutely demolished in a straight fight, note Thancred having to use every last trick up his sleeve and even a super-special cartridge Ryne charged up repeatedly just to be on an even footing with Ran'jit for long enough to push him back. And Thancred is the most directly physical fighter of the main Scions (Alisaie as Red Mage is still primarily a caster), as far as lore is concerned Y'shtola is still a Thaumaturge/Conjurer while we can be a Black Mage/White Mage, Alphinaud is a Scholar that can't summon a fairy, Urianger is an Astrologian that's kind of guessing at the art based on what he remembers from Sharlayan (and before was just about the best Arcanist we've ever been shown), Ryne is a Rogue with the blessing of light while we can be a Ninja, Thancred is a Gunbreaker that can't make his own cartridges and can't manipulate aether whatsoever.

that's every job in the game. you have crits, direct hits, and direct crits. the difference between a purple parse and orange parse samurai is how lucky they can direct crit with midares.

You need aoes to defeat echo users. Like, full area aoes since we can see where attacks will and and dodge precise attacks like sword slashes or bullets. That said.

So many times parties have to hard reset a fight simply because BLM can't raise, it's a real detriment in prog/clear.

Almost all of the E4S clears have had SMN in them, one replaced by BLM and one even used both SMN and BLM.

If SMN has to do all that work to only be a fraction better than RDM there's a problem. RDM was designed with the disabled in mind and should do much less damage than SMN's constant double-weaving rotation.

I'm playing through ARR. I'm only a level 33 PLD. I'm thinking I want to try AST once I can unlock it just because it seems like it has a nice aesthetic. Is it too much effort and not enough reward compared to other healers? Should I try it or another healer instead? or just stick with PLD and forget trying a healer?
