Can you play multiplayer with a pirated version

Yeah, the game has dedicated servers so no autentification is needed if the host so desires.

heres how you do it.
first, make an arena near the plantera bulbs since they somewhat respawn. make the arena big enough so that hooks will stop being a problem
second, on par with potions, prepare 2 weapons, one for high single target damage and 2nd with AOE damage.
third, if youre with friends, make a house with a bed and possibly a nurse in it, you can later use it for witch doctor to get hercules beetle and pygmy necklace.
Now for the fighting:
in the first phase, use the single target weapon. Circling plantera should let you dodge most of the projectiles without even noticing.
in the 2nd phase, swap to your Aoe weapon and deal with the small viny mouths, especially on the hooks. you should be able to just run around the arena to dodge plantera, since she will just charge at you most of the time.
yes, as long as you can set up a host with an ip and your friends also have the pirated version.
although the game is so cheap you might really consider just buying it if setting up a host is too much work.

what are some galaxy brain plays you've discovered over the years?
>Summoning queen bee during the plantera fight for a quick health boost
>using a bow + jester arrows to find enchanted swords/arkhalis easily

So I've owned this game for years but never played it. What's the best way to do it, just jump in?

Placing torches and picking them up to to let the the embers light up what's underneath a bit. Basically a mini version of the jester arrows technique.

just jump in, possibly with friends if you want some autism.
although the game can fuck you over at start, if you manage to find chests with some weapons and set up a house/base with some NPCs like the merchant and demolitionist youre pretty much fine.
I already have people with the feeling the game is too unjust with zombies blowing you up in spawn, so just watch out for that. its just because the game has huge progression with weapons, armor and accesories so later you will not even notice those zombies because of just how strong you will be

Also, it might seem slow to start but it really picks up once you find a mobility item like hermes boots or a grappling hook

Your friends don't need the pirated version, unless something has changed. You can't do the Steam multiplayer shit if you don't have a pirated version but everything else is the same. Just set up a server or join someone else's server. Use Hamachi or whatever if port forwarding is an issue
