Why would you spend $1000 on this instead of $600 for an HP reverb with twice the resolution and OLED screens?

Fuck, I thought my Rift S was messed up. If I had paid a grand for an Index I would be livid.
No telling when they're getting replacement controllers either, right?

Valve drone cope is the best cope. Hopefully Epic will show Valve how to make a VR headset soon.

Do they pay you by the post?

i got mine a few days ago and i haven't had any issues

this i actually agree with
there's no "click" feedback if you click the left stick while pushing it forward which is necessary to sprint in pavlov's shooter

i think i'm just gonna rebind it though because i hate holding down joystick buttons while moving them around

The steam VR controllers I think

>can't even read
>still comments

lol
actually buying hardware from valve

>there's no "click" feedback if you click the left stick while pushing it forward which is necessary to sprint in pavlov's shooter
Sounds like you shitty game is broken. There's nothing wrong with the controller. Clickable thumbsticks are stupid and only used by lazy devs.

Well maybe all these reddit tards should have thought a bit more before buying this expensive piece of shit!
>buy now, research later, then regret

>not making VR controllers extremely sturdy

Does Valve not realize these will be falling and abused way more than regular gamepads?

it happens to be one of the most popular VR games there is right now, which is why so many people complain about this. i agree that having to hold down a thumbstick is a retarded input to use for any action on any controller, but the thing really doesn't "click" if you have it held forward and push on it. it still registers, but it feels awkward. not a massive problem but something to improve on

>send out dev controllers for nearly half a year
>get everyone hype about it

wow I'm glad I didn't spend $300, as much as I fucking hate the Vive Wands

No, I just wanted to post reddit images for (You)s like yours.

pretty gay but honestly having to hold down a thumbstick button while pushing on it is retarded anyway

rebind that shit ASAP to something that doesn't give you carpal tunnel

I didn't realize I was this out-of-touch with video games, I don't even know what this is supposed to be

How fucking stupid do you have to be to pretend to be an epic shill just to bait anons

Is there such thing as “carried away playing very porn game”?

FAKE and GAY

I have the knuckles and its physically impossible for this to happen. Notice how the base of the joy stick is wider than the hole

These controllers are fucking stupid, wow I can properly bend my fingers in VR and I look like a fucking moron with all the crap attached to my body, so immersive

Why are Valvetards like this?

Attached: valve drone cope.jpg (1778x1370, 471K)

do this dumb faggots squeeze the controller so hard they break them from retard strength?

It's actually pretty gimmicky. It only senses your fingers starting to lift up, but as soon as you lift it far enough it just registers it as full extended.

Despite everything, youre still a dude

>posting on reddit instead of doing something about it

Attached: real.jpg (1862x288, 60K)

I've never used these things but my history with my Steam Controller(s) tells me the build quality is probably absolute shit. Valve are software engineers, not hardware engineers. Software engineers don't have to think about mechanical failure.

Fact: Posting Reddit image dumps like this should get you perma banned from all boards.

I've been doing it for years and I usually get to 500+ replies what's wrong with it?

>Valve are software engineers
>SteamVR is still a broken shoddy mess after 3 years
>still working on overhauling the steam ui after 5 years
>still no games

I don't think there's a single VR controller that doesn't have some glitch or problem with it. It's just a side effect of having such precise devices vs an xbox controller that you can beat someone over the head with and still use.

For example: the vive wands have a click function when you press on the circular touchpad. underneath the touchpad is a literally glued on soft plastic nipple that contacts and depresses a circular switch. over time heat and movement will melt the glue and shift the nipple off center so it's not touching the switch properly and you'll lose click function.

This happens even with proper use. It's a manufacturing defect and it's easy to repair but you risk breaking the controller's plastic latches each time.

Better software engineers than hardware engineers.

The guys with long nails are the guys who think their opinion is always right?

that's just a game theory

>the vive wands have a click function when you press on the circular touchpad
Also Valve's design.

>underneath the touchpad is a literally glued on soft plastic nipple that contacts and depresses a circular switch. over time heat and movement will melt the glue and shift the nipple off center so it's not touching
That doesn't sound like a side effect of having "such precise devices", it sounds like a side effect of cheap/incompetent engineering.

>should get you banned

I've been banned for posting off-topic in threads like these. Threads like these are 100% mod sanctioned.

Rift controllers have to be modded with padding around the batteries or you will shake them out of position and disconnect the controller when playing games like beat saber

>such precise devices
>literally two gyros and an xbox controller with a different shape

okay no

+Tip

Yeah, but at least they have games.

Kill yourself

there's also the array of IR sensors and accelerometer and also gyros are not simple devices

you can play rift games on WMR and Vive with revive so the games argument doesn't really work here

VR isn't your console circlejerk

Attached: pls valve.jpg (2554x309, 92K)

Attached: surprise!.jpg (1687x207, 45K)

>gyros are not simple devices
>around since the 1700s

:thinking emoji:

i guess we forgot how to use IR sensors, weird since they worked fine with the pokemon games

>VR isn't your console circlejerk
But it is. Do you think revive is going to work forever? Facebook will shut it down within a couple of years. The hippies at Valve can pretend that exclusives aren't important, but they're going to end up a like Microsoft. Why would anyone buy a steamvr kit and have access to some of the games when you can buy an Oculus headset and have access to all the games?

The plastic has a lot of flex because it's cheap garbage.

Attached: grips.jpg (2130x3574, 942K)

>index
>screen quality is the same as $400 rift s
>shitty broken controllers you can't return or get fixed because "it's by design"
>drill holes in your wall just to be able to play
>$1000
Yikes.

Attached: DCIM_0616.jpg (1024x498, 86K)

what the fuck did you do with this?

Attached: dma29hL.png (578x687, 660K)

People shit on oculus but man their controllers JUST WORK

For now? Absolutely. Rift and valve have large slices in this market and to force out a sizeable portion of an already small market is just stupid

Attached: worse than the first.jpg (1673x307, 84K)

works on my machine lol

Who could have seen this coming after the engineering masterpiece that was the steam controller

t. pleb

No wonder PC players prefer M+KB, they break controllers as soon as they get their hands on them

Pretty impressive that you managed to rip out a part that is bigger than the opening it came from without breaking anything.

Why would they wait years to shut it down when it has been costing them money since day 1?

>HP reverb
buying anything HP

Because their customers at the moment are mostly VR enthusiasts who are against them shutting it down. Once more of their customers are average people who don't care then the blow back will be minimal.

>costing them money
It's facebook. They have no shortage of money and they still make sales on their store from none oculus users.

>post here
You aren't on reddit, nigger.

Why would oculus customer give a shit about revive tho?

They worry about the success of VR and more importantly keeping the PC from turning into the console market with exclusives. With Oculus moving away from PC those customers won't care and at that point it's pretty much a console anyways. The move away from PC will kill revive alone even if they don't pull the plug themselves.

Attached: 1489158530249.jpg (332x332, 13K)

>They will probably fix it in one way or another
The coldest of cold comfort.

Should've stick to original design instead of listening retarded stick faggots. There is literally 0 benefits of using inferior sticks over trackpads for navigation and shit.

Attached: 3435.jpg (2000x1186, 606K)

the kiddies don't want trackpads because it takes time to adjust to them. they'll stick to their thumbsticks because it's easy never realizing trackpads are superior.

Why the fuck is there a wire leading up the actual thumbstick?

Arnt the wmd controllers really shit though?

Attached: cinnamon.jpg (1600x1200, 508K)

There might actually be a bad batch out there but it werks on my controller

>Not a solid PCB
Ok this is bad.

Reverb is lcd

OLED cant into 144Hz.
OLED has burn in.

It can sense when your thumb is on the thumb stick.

Not as shit as the Index controllers.

Attached: 1561137732716.jpg (1021x1017, 343K)

>precise devices
literally a wii waggy stick

SHUP UP SHUT UP SPENDING 1200$ ON VR WAS WORTH IT I GOT TO PLAY KITCHEN SIMULATOR 2019 AND IT WAS FUN FOR 20 SECONDS TONS OF GAMES ARE COMING DELETE THIS

I still plan on buying an Index, but with the amount of thumbstick issues people seem to be having with it I think I'll wait for a price drop and keep using my CV1 Rift.

A lot of people canceled their pre-orders and it went from being a 3+ month wait to being immediately available for purchase. It'll be half off by Christmas like the rest of Valve's failed hardware.

>tranny hates Valve
why tho?

You pc faggots have been waiting years to pay hundreds of dollars for a controller that's showing defects before half of the people get their hands on it. Our controllers might be shit last gen hand-me-downs but at least they are consumer grade durable and can be bought for 10 dollars at a thrift shop.

Just wait until PSVR 2 controllers and nobody will ever remember that VR was ever a PC thing.

Attached: Possible-New-PS-VR-Controller-Patents.jpg (4000x1937, 615K)

This is beyond hilarious. Imagine making a product so flawed that you skip initial hype directly into bargain bin stage.

>14 day warranty
holy shit how's that even legal
I was thinking index but now I'm gonna get the rift S or a used Vive instead

Thanks for the reddit repost you stupid faggot. Go back and stay.

Long thumb nails are recommended by doctors to patients with hemorrhoids. They use it to scalp bits of hard shit as it slowly comes out of their ass to alleviate the pain. Please be nicer to them as we don't truly know their pain.

You're not out of touch with video game, this is about VR. Not even sure why it is on this board.

Fisting is 300$

So glad I went with the samsung odyssey. Cheap and the quality is amazing on the headset and controllers. Having both joystick and trackpad gives it great compatibility. Obvious downfalls is the tracking issues when out of fov, but honestly microsoft did it right with wmr. More people should try it out before looking past it.

because vr is used to play video games?

the only reason i haven't bought the index is because they don't ship to my country. looks like i dodged a bullet there

Consume shit, shut up, then be excited to consume newer shit, you fucking golem.
