Most game overs just spawn you where you were or near it.
What are some vidya with consequences for failure?
Alot of hentai games, which I assume is the answer you were looking for.
being a failure is the best outcome
They say that Death Stranding is supposed to have consequences for your death, and that the game continues even after you die, instead of just restarting.
Diablo 2 - 3 Hardcore. Death is permanent.
NISA's roguelikes on PS3. It was bad enough the games were horribly unbalanced, but weird glitches meant that sometimes your character would be stuck in place and was unable to escape.
USB flash drive save scumming it is!
Rain World has a progression system built around not dying consistently, and the hardest difficulty has permadeath after a certain amount of days passes.
But user... there's no fun in that...
In Lisa the Painful, if you set the difficulty to Pain Mode, save points explode after you use them once. So if you die, then you go back far
I always thought hardcore mode was retarded, but holy fuck did it revitalize D3 for me when I tried it out. It's strange how refreshing it is even though the game doesn't change.
That was a while ago now though. I've since given up on activizzard and uninstalled everything they made.
ultima online
every equipment and everything you had in your backpack can be looted
Pretty much any X-com game, and a lot of strategy games. Game over is still final, but you can fuck yourself over in a bunch of ways.
Lose/Lose
There's an old MMO called Tibia. When you die, you lose 10% of all your exp and skills (even rolling back levels). Your backpack with all of its items is left at your corpse, first person to open it can grab whatever they want (this happens even in PvP). Each piece of equipment you have (armor, weapon etc.) has a 10% chance of being left at your body too. There are ways of reducing the exp loss and preventing item loss, but they cost a lot of gold.
>have a party of 2 thicc followers in Skyrim, a Redguard and a Breton
>playing a shota Redguard myself because I liked the way they looked most
>losing meant that even if I did, I'd just get """raped""" by the busty female bandits while my money, weapons and armor were stolen and then they'd just leave me by the wayside
>except this time, there were no female bandits
>watched as my 2 sexy followers were sodomized by a horde of nordnigger bandits as my game bugged out trying to figure out what to do with me when I lost
Suffice to say that I bagged the bandits and sold them all off to gay guards to be sodomized in prison for their crimes.
Yes, I know they probably got sodomized while the female bandits raped me by the other male bandits, but I don't like it desu.
Runescape
Untill people were ddosing and you cant loot dead peoples stuff anymore. No fun
Albion online has full loot open world pvp
Just to name a few?
>mount and blade
>every /gsg/ game made
>every 4x game
>shadow of mordor
>dark souls
You mean paid saveslots
Not released yet, don't care.
Yeah definitely these.
Unironically Minecraft. I don't think I've ever had such a sinking feeling in my chest after getting blown up by a creeper next to a lava pool and losing everything. And I've been playing games for 30+ years. I can't think of anything in gaming that rivals that feeling.
That punishes you for winning, not losing.
Max Payne gets easier tthe the more you keep dying
