Watchdogs, it was going to be the modern day AC that was teased since AC1 but it had to many new ideas to be sold as a spin off so they turned it into a new ip, like AC to Prince of Persia.

The modern time AC was supposed to tbe the Desmond arc. He was gracelessly removed from the lore so Ubisoft wouldn't have to end the series and continue to milk it with a bunch of pointless side stories that go absolutely nowere.
