To Heart 2 Dungeon Travelers English Patch when

I enjoy JRPGSs but dungeon travelers is hot garbage

Because I haven't found one that's really grabbed me in quite a while, so I am just kinda drifting between multiple titles until Mary Skelter 2 and Labyrinth of Refrain 2 for now.

lol
I say that, but Moero Chronicles got a port to switch literally out of nowhere so it's actually entirely possible.

Alisia is cute, and I wish DT would come to PC one day in the year 20XX.

>dungeon travelers is hot garbage
Based on what?

terribe early alpha-like UI
characters too retarded and cringy
I know it's for the fanservice but still cringy and retarded
uninteresting story
when you hit an enemy doesn't feel like a feeling of impact or something
can't write more I gotta go to work, will continue tomorrow

I’m still playing Vesperia. It’s a complete mess.

Cause Im normal.

the combat is grindy and number crunchy

based visual novels with rpg elements and no combat on the other hand

Taking a break from JRPGs to avoid burn out.
Thinking of starting either FF4 or Bravely Default once I get through the games I'm playing now.

Please recommend me a jrpg on pc that will make me feel like I have friends for at least a little while

Tokyo Xanadu?

Have you tried emulating Person 3, 4 and 5?

Definitely Trails in the Sky

Yes I played all those

Will check it out

Have had these for awhile and never tried them. Will do now.

Playing Zanki Zero. It's not that good, but not bad either.
So far I really hate real time shit.
Stamina drains way too fucking fast and they need like 10 steaks to recover it.
Item management is also kinda cancer due to clunky controls.
All characters are really squishy and keep dying, but unironically reviving seems like better option than recovering faggot with low stamina.

I busted so many nuts to this game when I was playing through it. Although I never finished the postgame.

I'm playing Tokyo Xanadu. It's okay I guess.

Because I play video games instead of interactive melodramas that just copy/paste Shinto mythologies

It's just one guy hoping his buzzword becomes a new meme. Ignore.

I want to dive into the SaGa series but don't know which one to play first.

Just finished NIER yesterday. Thinking of what to play next. I really only care about story and fan service.

Playing Tales of Vesperia. Just met Undine

There hasn't been a good jrpg in a long time. Modern jrpgs are fucking weird. They are poorly written with simple one note characters, and generally easy as shit. This indicates the game is for children, but then all the characters are hyper sexualized in an attempt to appeal to adults.
So who are they marketing to? Someone extremely horny with a child like brain. I am referring to the "cum brain".

Well Autmata has story and fanservice and is related to NIER.

>guy

Should I play:
SMT: Nocturne
or
Star Ocean: Till the End of Time
?

Playing Etrian Odyssey on Citra soon
I love how cumbrain is supposed to sound like an insult. Hope it catches on

This might sound really lame, but I wish I could get into JRPGs. Maybe it's just a "me" problem, though. Maybe I'm too much of a casual? See, I have a few friends who play a lot of JRPGs and all the different ones in different series. And they know all about the series, and have that fulfilling "completion" feel. The Persona series looks cool, so does dot hack, Final Fantasy (I will say, I played FF 2 & 3 on SNES and loved 'em), etc. But I don't think I can get into them. I don't know. I've never given them a shot besides a few. I love Pokemon, but that's babby's first RPG so I guess it doesn't count.

Attached: 1537141025422.jpg (842x1024, 85K)

But I'm playing Trails of Cucked Fan Translations.

Attached: ED_ZERO 2019-07-31 15-49-38.jpg (1920x1080, 1.53M)

Well it is. It's a serious issue fucking your brain up on many different levels. These are scientifically proven facts.

Nocturne

When you play them, do you enjoy them? If you liked FF2 and 3, try FF5. It's easily emulated, has a goofy charming story and lots of character customization. Also, Chrono Trigger is a classic

Hey it’s me! Neat!

SaGa Frontier is a good place to begin for newfriends, it's the game that started the "modern" format of the series, so it has most of the core mechanics of the contemporary games and also most of the stuff from the older games, although revisited or elaborated upon, the structure is also an elaboration of the "classic" Romancing formula and stands between the classic progression format and the more contemporary one that was introduced with Frontier 2.

The DS remakes of SaGa 2 and 3 are also a good way to start if you feel Frontier's nonlinearity, fragmented narrative and massive cast is too much for you to follow, those games are linear and have very simple stories and small casts while still retaining the modern core mechanics and general spirit of the series.
Alternatively, you can play The Alliance Alive, which was developed by former SaGa team members and is essentially a "SaGa-like", being on the easy side and with a more direct approach to narrative and progression but still retaining the core mechanic design of the series proper and most of the whimsical characters and settings typical of the series proper.

Because my FE copy still hasn't arrived so I'm playing Utaware Zan.

I was playing World of Final Fantasy Maxima. I didn't like the anime writing at all but I could tolerate it. Sadly I encountered visual glitches because AMD support is awful for this game, and had to uninstall it.

Juggling between Mana Khemia 2 and Pandora's Reflection.
Raze's party is way OP thanks to time sphere spells, especially Puniyo's double cast. You can basically blast any enemies with a double cast of a common skill with a time sphere like Thunder Rain, just in case Heaven's Gate won't work.
Still on that Hiyoko Hell in Pandora's Reflection, going for level 50 and max weapon upgrades. It shaping to be another depressing game, but still with a chance for happy ending. I guess Sting can't go full Dept. Heaven despair ride in another IP.

Attached: 1450883091054.jpg (800x1184, 308K)

Yes, I enjoyed FF2 & 3. I played them in 2011 for the first time via an emulator. The one thing that really did it for me though, user, was the soundtrack. That really made the game for me. Loved the combat andf pixel art too.

What was that gun kata JRPG called? Is it good?

>What was that gun kata JRPG called?
End of Eternity/Resonance of Fate?
>Is it good?
It's quintessential turn based Tri-Ace, with all that it entails.
If you like Tri-Ace it's great, if you don't you'll probably hate it.

Is Ogre Battle 64 any good? It looks like ass and is pretty slow
Resonance of Fate. It's probably good if you have the IQ to understand the combat system, I didn't

>If you like Tri-Ace it's great, if you don't you'll probably hate it.
I dunno, I never played any of their games.
What are some good essential JRPGs for someone who has only played Persona 2-5, Nocturne and Trails in the Sky?

Attached: 1482617898188.jpg (319x378, 41K)

Is Ar Tonelico good?
FF XII is fucking awesome
Strange Journey
If you like Trails you might like the Yoko Taro universe for the D E E P L O R E

I started playing Disgaea 5, the gameplay is solid but holy fuck is the dialogue a slog to get through.

Are all modern JRPG's nowadays just visual novels with some gameplay on the side?

Thanks. I'll probably start with Frontier but I see Alliance Alive is coming to the Switch in a few months. I'll be sure to check it out.

At work

If you liked Trails, you may want to check out Utawarerumono and Ar Tonelico. Other than that, it's pretty difficult to give recommendations since there's a ton of games in the genre that have basically nothing in common.

I'd rather avoid FF for now, played VII and found it massively overrated.
Might check Strange Journey because I like dungeon crawlers.
Trails was alright, too much walking though.
Does Underwater Ray Romano have actual gameplay? Thought it was just a standard VN.

Megami Tensei 2 is pretty good if you can stomach it

>I never played any of their games.
Really? Not even VP?
You should fix that, play Valkyrie Profile at least, you'll probably like it given your tastes, if you like VP's gameplay and characters you'll probably like EoE and most Tri-Ace stuff either way since they all share the common core mechanics about combo stacking and insane multiplier/special weapon abuse.

Suikoden is a series you'll also probably enjoy given how you like Kiseki, the classic Arc the Lad trilogy is also something you want to look into.
Either are fine entries, granted most people will prefer Frontier since it's a pretty big name, but even with all its faults AA is a great game for beginners, although due to its origins it's one of those games you'll "understand" better by playing SaGa in the first place, there's quite a few references and signature designs that are addressed to older SaGa fans, you won't catch those as a newcomer, but you can still go back to it once you get in the series proper either way.

What are the best SRPGs?

What about the Minstrel Song?

>SMT: Nocturne
That one, but the chronicles version.

Absolutely not for beginners, same as Unlimited.

Attached: D7oJ8ImV4AA9EVR.jpg (700x1019, 106K)

>Does Underwater Ray Romano have actual gameplay?
It does, although sometimes there's 3 or 4 hours between gameplay sections. There's usually 20-30 story battles and 15+ extra battles unlocked once you finish the main story that are pretty fun and challenging.

>Is Ar Tonelico good?
They are charming but the gameplay is very fucking easy, impossible to die at all.
I managed to finish the first one but dropped the 2nd few hours in.

Disgaea

Might give it a miss then. I've been looking for some JRPGs with deep lore

Is 5 any good? I got it on PS4 and pretty overwhelmed

Suikoden bitch

>English version fucking never
youtube.com/watch?v=NsnulEu2qww

Why I must suffer?
The lack of new EO is also killing me, guess I'll just play labyrinth of refrain.

>Raidou over Dante from the Devil May Cry series
I wish they gave him Pierce

Just wrapped up KH3. It was okay.
Going back to Assassin's Creed Odyssey now though, feels good.

>him Pierce
He has it in the hardtype mod.

>dropped the 2nd few hours in.
Hope you can find time to play it again. And get that retranslation patch for a better experience.

Attached: 18-27-46-1554459967296.jpg (600x837, 158K)

AT is certainly worth playing if you want deep lore. I may be wrong, but I think the creator of the series has a degree in quantum physics and the games also use one of the most complex constructed languages you can see in video games.

Not him, and I won't say it's garbage but I also don't like it too much, even though it's a pretty good dungeon crawler.
The bland almost non-existent story and the terrible enemy designs kinda kill it for me. I don't mind fanservice-y enemies, but what this game has is just stupid and unimaginitive.
I like the gameplay and character designs and CGs, so I will probably finish it but the issues above will prevent me from being able to rate this game higher.

If someone is looking for a similar game and haven't played it, I encourage to give Demon Gaze 1 a try, it's really good.

>Suikoden bitch
The gameplay though...
>And get that retranslation patch for a better experience.
I played it with that one.

Honestly I've never played it. I've only played 1 and 2. They add more and more mechanics as the games go on. Don't worry, you can clear the main game with minimum knowledge, it's just the postgame (which is like 90% of where the real content is) that requires grinding and mental gymnastics. Also first game has a cute cast of characters (as in their interactions with each other are wholesome and nice and the whole game is kind).

>Have had these for awhile and never tried them. Will do now.
Not the same user, you should. They are very good games.

I got trails in the sky for a psp emulator on my phone so I could play something while outdoors, and I fucking fell in love with the characters so much. This entire game is just so pure and wholesome, and all of the characters are an absolute joy to have on-screen. Do Joshua and Estelle get together by the end? Playing as the tsundere redhead for once is pretty based, she deserves her oniichan.

>shits on dungeon travelers
>proceeds to describe demon gaze, the nth Experience rehash, as "really good"
Weird tastes, user
The only aspect of demon gaze that's better is the fact that you actually have sex with the heroine

>Want to play the older EOs before the new ones to see the QoL changes and references etc
>Didn't realise how long they'd be
What's one old EO I should play before the new one?

You might as well get out of this thread if you don't know anything about Trails because someone will spoil you here.
Though you should play TiTS in the PC for the new added features, the PSP is fine too, there will be a minor problem awaiting for you when you hit the 3rd when transferring save files. since there is no PSP release on that as far as I know.

all of them

Should I play the Untolds or the original vesions of those games?

you heard me. Every game. Beat at least 1 stratum.

I want to spank Alisia's butt

I'm trying to play persona 5 but I'm around 6 hours in and I hate every character except the blond dude like seriously hate every word that comes out of their mouths.

What JRPG should I play next on Switch?
I've played Xenoblade 2, Octopath, Tales of Vesperia, Ys VIII, and Disgaea 5
I don't like Fire Emblem

>I don't like Fire Emblem
Not even FEfags like FE but we play it anyway, just do it.

And it doesn't even get better, for a fact, it gets even worse.

Do I play three houses or Etrian Odyssey V?

Attached: Stupendous bird gif 2.gif (500x281, 1.97M)

>three houses
No
>Etrian Odyssey V
Yes

Start with untolds 1 and 2 on the 3DS/2DS.
Then play 3 for the DS ( Or you can start with this one, this was the best )
and then play 4, 5 and then Nexus.

>It's probably good if you have the IQ to understand the combat system, I didn't

there's a tutorial

I went to ice cream girls place, I'm just a brainlet

I have the same problem with D5. I don't even dislike story-heavy games but there is way too much dialogue for how uninteresting the characters are.

Attached: 1558038497559.jpg (1280x720, 120K)

because i don't know any good ones without turn based combat

Are the cat ears her actual design or is that some item you have equipped that changes the portrait? Because that looks dumb as fuck

I'm not a fucking weeb, I can have objective taste and recognise how bad they are

Remove yourself from this website riajuu

They aren't fucking cat ears there is a legitimate canon reason for them. Crosbell isn't some dumb anime weebshit like Cold Steel.

Chill out, it's okay to admit she's wearing catears. Besides, every Trails game has been dumb anime shit, why would this single entry be any different?

I am replaying Terranigma for the thousandth time, and also Ys Origin. Probably Trails in the Sky 3rd after I finish both of those.
>Mary Skelter 2
Too bad it doesn't really seem to continue the story but is a sort of alternate retelling? inb4 timeline/timetravel shenanigans are involved.

Attached: tenchi_souzou_cover_art.jpg (2048x1362, 2.23M)

Because all I have left to do in KH3 for 100% completion is the cooking minigame, and I'm not retarded enough to care about that. And I also recently finished Lagrange Point.

Going to play either Wild Arms 3 or Arc the Lad next.

Attached: lagrangepoint.jpg (354x500, 208K)

The various PSP SRPGs are pretty hard to beat, with the exception of the mediocre Jeane d'Arc. Wild Arms XF, Growlanser 4, Yggdra Union, Gungnir, FFT, and TO are all really good.

I think Demon Gaze also has better art and music. It's not in the same league as DT2 in terms of gameplay, though.

The mechanics in Resonance of Fate are unorthodox enough that it can take some time to learn them. Once you do, though, the gameplay turns out to be pretty shallow. Granted, most JRPGs have combat that is generic, just as shallow, and a lot less flashy, so I don't think of that as a strong condemnation of the game.

Wild Arms XF is the best SRPG that nobody played.

Anyone played Trillion?

I'm so burnt out on JRPGS

What are some games to play inbetween JRPGs that still have fun stories/characters?

cool, post a link to a rance translation and ill start playing

Visual novels my man

WAXF is too broken and at the same time to rigid to be best anything.
The premise is interesting, but the game has just too many flaws in every department, from a completely linear campaign with zero side content to the shallow, repetitive component grind and the fact that despite having more than half of the campaign being puzzle quests revolving around forced use of said classes, the actual meta in the missions that do let you use whatever you want is completely skewed in favour of three classes, two of which being unique classes.
Felius and Clarissa were good characters though, probably the best and better handled in the series too, surprisingly enough, I was actually surprised that they followed through with Felius' story despite the fucking dog.

I'm busy

I just finished ending A of Nier Automata, does that count?

Attached: 20190725165319_1.jpg (1920x1080, 251K)

Any good recommendations for a good JRPG?

Favourites are:

Tales of Eternia (I've played all the tales games)
Final Fantasy 4, 10 and 12. (played the rest)
Nier Automata
Persona 5
Pokemon Soul Silver

Dragon Quest 11 has been great.

Give the Xenoblade series a shot

I'm holding out for the switch version, since it has a bit more.
99%'d Chronicles 2 and then my save file was deleted through a series of unfortunate events. Finished 1.

Thanks though Yea Forumsros.

Soul Blazer is a pretty good action JRPG for the SNES. If you enjoyed XC1 and 2, then Xenogears is a treat, though the gameplay can get quite dull.

What a lie. Had you played the retranslation and in hard mode, complaining about the game being "too easy and impossible to die in" would be the last thing you'd do.

Six languages so far, and while Standard Hymmnos and REON-4213 are pretty simple, the other conlangs are indeed a lot more complex.

>"too easy and impossible to die in"
That was meant for the first Ar Tonelico.
As I said, I only dropped 2 a few hours in, because of other games.

The second Bourd battle and the bad ending final boss would like a few words with you.

The class-based puzzles are the best part. There's no grinding and a linear campaign is desirable. The best class is nightstalker but before you unlock it the classes are relatively well balanced. The writing is absolute garbage.

>bad ending final boss
Who was that, because I remember steamrolling through Mir, and that was my last final battle.

It's a flawed gem: the series as far as I'm concerned.
One of my favorite game series ever, they're fun in many ways, lore is bonkers and the highs get to fucking orbit at times, but the writing is inconsistent in quality quite often, and the gameplay varies between boring but tried systems and cool weird ideas that don't quite work out completely, and will probably disappear by the next entry.
I would honestly recommend it just for how much soul and ambition the games have. Even if 1 pretends to be generic fantasy for half the game for some reason, AT3 went retarded with the combat system, and Ar Nosurge had all the budget of an office lunch with all the ambition of a space opera, the music, the lore, and the times ideas work exactly as intended more than make up for it for me.
I can't not bash it, and yet I can't not love it. It's brilliant.

The Bourd one is true, but the final boss is easy even if you don't break the game.
What can happen if you break the game? Mir can move in less than 5 turns at the last phase of her battle.

Attached: Sanic.jpg (1366x768, 240K)

Give me some ARPGs, please.

Attached: el neku.png (211x211, 78K)

Breaking AT is really fun, though. It's ridiculous, the kind of shit you can stack up on weapons with crystals. It's surprisingly freeform.

>The class-based puzzles are the best part.
Not really, they're shallow and as handholded as possible.
>There's no grinding
Objectively wrong since you are literally forced to change classes to proceed through the game.
>a linear campaign is desirable
By who exactly?
>The best class is nightstalker
The best class is Extremist, by a long shot.

>Lyner
>All resist and elemental attacks
>5 hits + elemental hits
>5 turns before anyone else
>Agility so high physical attacks won't hit
>Defense so high damage means nothing
>Hits goes in all colors

When you break AT1, Ikaruga Mk.II will be the best boss that will benchmark your character on how broken it is. The boss has a 9999 defense according to its stats.
You got to thank Spica for having those OP crystals.

Try going against Kanade once she reaches her max stats and let's see how long you last against her.

Except if you're going for the bad ending. By that point, you won't have access to the final recipes you need for the actually broken crystals.

>The bland almost non-existent story and the terrible enemy designs kinda kill it for me
That's really just personal preference, though at least 2-2 tends to have better enemy art (especially for some of the boss encounters, they really outdid themselves there)
The story is supposed to be a silly SoL about a cute sweet-tooth group of girls with brain problems, though both the lore and the "main" story about the demons also get expanded considerably in 2-2 with some more dramatic moments thrown in.
Regardless, DT2 is basically just a /comfy/ game about cute girls, monster girls and dungeon crawling. If you're not a moebuta I don't expect you to appreciate it, but that doesn't mean those aspects are actually bad.

Attached: 1480862620917.jpg (960x544, 199K)

bad end triggers if you decide to take on Tastiella and Mir early
it's true that it's the only challenging battle in the game, unless you know what you're doing and send in 0-def Lyner

Attached: TastiellaArt.jpg (839x1013, 117K)

what the hell is wrong with Maid-Sensei? She makes Alisia look sane

What game is this from?

probably Dungeon Travelers

Have you played Gurumin? It's sometimes called "Ys for kids". Probably because it's also developed by Falcom and not much else, though. Can't really expect the same variety and difficulty from bosses, though the optional one represents a spike in difficulty.
At any rate, Gurumin is not party-based.
Not sure if comes close to Ys' difficulty on higher difficulty settings since you need to unlock them successively by playing through the highest that's currently available.
I've also been eyeing Furi. It might scratch that same itch, except it's boss battles only.

Attached: mugen_contemplating.png (480x320, 38K)

Yeah. I enjoyed it quite a bit, but it has some serious flaws and I wouldn't recommend it to most people. If a Princess Maker/roguelike/VN hybrid in which you're desperately trying to muster a defense against a demonic Godzilla sounds like something you would like, though, then you might check it out. If you do, then I advise going in blind. I think the game works best when you don't know what to expect or fully understand what you're doing.

I just finished the new Fire Emblem. It was really great and I'd probably jump back in immediately to play the other routes, if it wasn't so long. I'm thinking about picking up Persona 3 sometime soon instead.
