>recruit a level 27 Sandshrew and a level 27 Sandslash >for some reason the Sandslash has lower stats all around than the Sandshrew >EVs and IVs don't exist in this game and instead, each Pokémon has a set of base stats, which increase by fixed amounts when they level up. So the Sandslash just simply has lower stats than it's pre-evolved form. ??? And I swear that people have been saying that evolution doesn't affect stats whatsoever in PMD games.
Also, which Pokemon do you guys like to recruit to your team? I had a Staravia on my team but at level 20 or so it still only had slightly above 30 HP and practically got one shot by anything, while MC and Partner had 70-80 HP or so at the same level.
/vp/ is a bunch of autistic people who are impossible to talk to.
>So the Sandslash just simply has lower stats than it's pre-evolved form. That can't be right.
Jose Foster
It is. My assumption is that maybe evolved forms gain higher stat growths in later levels, whereas pre-evolved forms maybe get better stat growths in early levels but then once they hit 30+ it's reduced? Maybe it's supposed to be an incentive for recruiting pre-evolved Pokemon instead of a freaking Tyranitar early into the game.

stat growths are hard-coded, but not necessarily balanced like that. I checked the grovyle wiki for the stat growths for Sandshrew and Sandslash. wiki.grovyle.net/pokedun3/index.php?サンド wiki.grovyle.net/pokedun3/index.php?サンドパン Summing all the stats from Lv. 1 to 27, Sandshrew has 91 HP, 46 Atk, 32 Def, 49 SpA, and 29 SpD while Sandslash has 84 HP, 44 Atk, 30 Def, 44 SpA, 29 SpD. Does that match or is close to what you have? Sandshrew also has higher Level 100 stats than Sandslash.
Aaron Perez
>Sandshrew also has higher Level 100 stats than Sandslash. What the fuck
Jonathan Edwards
Are those stats for Super Mystery Dungeon or Explorers of Sky? Don't know if they have different stat growths between different games since some were made by different people or something.
Anyways, i don't have the Sandslash anymore but that's probably close to what it looked like although i could've sworn Sandslash had like 8-10 less Attack
Camden Kelly
Mega yikes. Also this thread is right up my alley. Use to main Skitty in Red Rescue Team.
This goes against literally everything I thought I knew
Asher Mitchell
>want to play these >can't evolve until postgame
Kayden Taylor
>mudkip is my favourite >got mudkip as myself on both blue team and super mystery dungeon >got mudkip as partner on explorers of time Was happy about it
Jason Stewart
In Red/Blue I think i was Charmander and my Partner was Mudkip. In Exploreres of Sky i was Totodile with Chikorita as a partner (because my friend wanted to be Chikorita for some reason. Maybe cause there are only 3 female options) But then i rerolled to Riolu with Shinx as partner because i suck.
Dominic Price
Still playing and collecting pokes in Blue Rescue Team. Used Meowth with a Cyndaquil partner. I haven't started Explorers of Sky, but I plan to have Munchlax as my partner (since I can't make him my player character for whatever reason)
Christian Cooper
To be honest i enjoy PMD partly for that reason becuase you can go with Pokemon that would just be utter shitmons in mainline games. For example i picked up a Girafarig in a dungeon and it wrecks shit and can attack around corners with Psybeam and seemingly has good stat growth.
Brody Taylor
>it's an AI randomly runs off into a completely different direction despite having "stay together" choesen as tactic and you have to run after it hoping you can catch it before it gets defeated.
If this is anything to go by sometimes you are better without it. I like Pikachu/Charmander/Water starter for Red but i don't really have a preference. Don't forget it learns Agility.
>Don't forget it learns Agility. I actually made it forget Agility because the AI is kind of stupid and will just keep spamming Agility non-stop until the PP are empty if there's a Pokemon in the same room, even if it's on the other side and you can't reach it for 10 more turns. Really annoying.
Nicholas Long
I think if you raise its IQ it'll stop doing that.
Grayson Perry
>you can go with Pokemon that would just be utter shitmons in mainline games that's the best part. if you work hard enough, your favorite pokemon can be the best pokemon. >obliterating Western Cave with nothing but a lone, rogue Magikarp
Connor Diaz
I want a mystery dungeon game on mobile.
Dylan Russell
Chikorita!
Adam Gomez
Charmander in Super
Joseph Baker
I don't at all care about how good a pokemon becomes when it's evolved, I want the aesthetics that come with walking around as/with fully evolved pokemon. Evolving could reset my pokemon to level 1, I wouldn't care.
the Mystery Dungeon games are superior to the mainline series >Keeps the mechanics of the main games without EVs/IVs (which are basically an unfun grind) yet adds it into a strategic dungeon game where positioning and tactics matter >Just as much, if not more story and endearing characters and music >Access to the entire pokedex without having to trade/buy with other players and versions of the game to get certain exclusives or evolve pokemon. And they all have more sprites/animations than they do in the main games have you accepted this truth?
I just want to play a real game with good gameplay on mobile. They're all autoclicker or shitty desktop tier garbage. The mystery dungeon formula would work really well.
Angel Bennett
They have better music and graphics too.
Ethan Jones
>RBMT: Eevee and Chikorita >EoS: Riolu and Eevee
Haven't played the other two yet, but not having Eevee as a character or main partner choice is already a dealbreaker.
Henry Wilson
Forgot the (You) Advance MAME Scalex2. Was messing around to see what looks best for GB games and forgot to change.
Julian Parker
Didn't Red/Blue have exclusives you had to trade for using the GBA slot of the DS?
Kayden Russell
but Red/Blue Time/Darkness etc. all had exclusive version mons...
Benjamin Reed
you could simply add those exclusives into your game by inputting a wondermail code. no trading or online connection of any kind required
Adrian Perry
Yea, no shit but what's the point of having it learn agility if it's not going to use it? The menus are way too cumbersome for me to go into the move menu and switch it back on again everytime i want it to use it again. Shame this game doesn't have shortcuts for this type of stuff when there are so many unassigned buttons and touch screen functions it could use. Like, why not give us the ability to tap on any given pokemon on the team and immediately see their move pool or status?
Owen Wood
>game finally incentivises using the best forms of Pokemon
>Got Pikachu in EoS, so settled on Meowth for partner >Do a new game on RRT >Get fucking Meowth in personality test, first try again too >Pretty much has to pick Pikachu as partner after that What are some of your PMD kino moments?
Been forever since I played a pmd game. Can't you max out your stats eating beans or something?
Noah Peterson
Yeah, there are vitamins as well as Gummis in Rescue Team/Explorers and cookies or whatever in Super to boost your stats directly and max them out. You really only notice the stat differences in the handful of dungeons that drop you to Level 1.
Christopher Carter
Stumbling on Darkrai in a random fucking sea dungeon when I didn't read anything about the game and thought he was gone forever.
Nathan Hall
yea you can which is not to say you will
Joshua Smith
How does this series have such a dedicated fanbase?
>they got rid of these after the first games despicable
Carter Morgan
actually non-shit story for once
Easton King
having all your teammates in a list was nice in organizational terms+not having to get areas before getting mons was nice, but these areas are so fucking comfy though
Ian Diaz
wait, i vaguely recall something like all your recruited pokemon hanging out at these places in the first game. is my memory correct?
Jaxson Martinez
its pokemon and digimon minus all the bad parts except for the grinding
The rest of the pokemon fanbase is huge enough already and the story is exactly the kind of thing 10 year old furries-to-be need, of course it will have a dedicated fanbase
Camden Morris
>the story is exactly the kind of thing 10 year old furries-to-be need so Yea Forums
Michael Cook
Sure does for me
Thomas Walker
its fun and has soul its also a different approach when compared to regular pokemon games
Nicholas Kelly
EoS is the best game but I occasionally go back to the first game just for the recruitment zones, your base getting rebuilt in your effigy and Gengar's story. Especially Gengar's story.
Brody Morris
gengar's story is actually good, I wish EoS's postgame had more substance to it
Carson Howard
It fucking does though? Like I said I go back to it for Gengar but EoS' alternate stories (Bidoof, Wigglytuff and obviously Grovyle) are on another level. The quest with Manaphy, Shaymin Village, and the final plot resolution with Darkrai is a way better post-game than RTT.
Samuel Young
the episodes are kino no doubt, but I don't really consider that the postgame manaphy, shaymin and darkrai were meh gengar was short, but also exceedingly well executed. nothing in EoS's postgame comes close to how neatly it ties everything together the rest of the RT postgame was meh storywise
Josiah Martinez
In that sense I understand you then. Either way those games each have something incredible going out for them.
absolutely, people like to overlook RT because EoS overall improved the formula, but it does have a few unique aspects worth appreciating on their own terms
Jaxson King
>team names Rescue Team: Team Starbolt Sky: Team Relic Gates: lel, I'm blanking Super: (The) Dungeoneers
i keep hoping but i cant ever seem to find any new info
Benjamin Perez
I honestly wouldn't mind if Super was the last game. It blew my expectations out of the stratosphere especially after Gates to Infinity that it would be fine as the series' send-off.
Only thing I'd regret is never getting to play with the Gen 7 starters. I hated gen 7 but the starters, and their first forms in particular, would suit PMD extremely well.
Aaron Cooper
>beat rayquaza in rescue team >your partner stops following you >partner loses their special dialogue and just becomes a generic member of their species Sad desu
Elijah Cook
Chances are that we'll get a mobile version. Sorry user.
That just looks like someone drew her on model for once.
Ian Garcia
Yeah it's kinda depressing. I don't understand why hex attracts so many fatfags. Maybe it's because she looks crazy, it attracts crazy, because liking fat is objectively insane
Adrian Howard
It's because of the Hex Maniac selling bottles of milk in XY. There's no Miltank or ranch anywhere near her, so people joked that the milk was homemade and people ran with the idea to the point that they're no longer fapping to Hex Maniacs, they're fapping to a bastardized idea of them. A parody of a parody that has no basis on the character in any way that just got more and more corrupted as time wore on. See also: Gardevoir.
Nolan Green
Are there any hacks that expand the amount of usable "starters"
t. person who wants to play as sneasel from the start
Pretty sure sneasel already has extra face portraits anyways due to being plot relvenant in the early PMD games
