Even if they were misguided using these types of controls, Croc is honestly the best implementation of tank controls in a platformer. Makes for some satisfying tight platforming once you're comfortable enough.

Better yet, Argonaut (the devs) also made Star Fox with Nintendo and fronted Star Fox 2 only for it to get shit canned at 99% complete just so Nintendo's own in house studio could cannibalize the assets and story to made Star Fox 64.
