It's pretty odd considering how busy all of sudden they were the week before you came back.

With any luck there'll be alot of people hopping in after EVO brings in more players (hopfeully).

Also, some PC regulars come in quite abit late.

They seem to start later than PSN lobbies. Roughly in 30 minutes or so it pick up.

Joker is still mostly an in-joke so don't get your hopes up. I wish he had a better chance but the devs basically said to not expect him.

Japan players are at the level at which the american pros have a hard time beating.
Thankfully none of us seem to be in a bracket where there's more than one of them so at the very least most of us will make it out of our pools.

I still haven't seen a lot of the common names from lobbies before I took my break after combo breaker. We would have almost full lobbies by now. Hopefully everything is going well for those lads, I miss our games.

If it's not directly connected to the motherboard you can unplug it and the controller will still work ie. the touchpad and light bar and rumble things.
I don't remember if the motion control shit is attached to the MB though.

In regards to Melk, it's less an issue with Vatista and more an issue with Melk just having knowledge on how to counter / avoid bad scenarios.

Melk is just a monster he is good at every character he plays.

When I turned it off I read the description, apparently it is associated with motion controls and some PSTV controller identification type shit, like a wii remote sort of shit

Let it be known that Icy can't tech gold throws, and since he cracks easily on defense and doesn't know how to use chain shift, going for frame traps instead of overheads is better for dealing with parry or 2A mash outs

Plus, I don't think it's the worst thing in the world to get grabbed sometimes as long as you can still win vorpal in the end. It might be tilting, but it's better to get hit by a 1.7k grab than 3k off a 2A mash

Your combo game is getting pretty tight with Chaos Basta.

He's been only getting more and more fun to play. I'm really glad I decided to pick him up back when I did.

Some characters can get a combo off a grab (eg. Yuzu, or Hyde in the corner) but usually they're pretty weak. Treat HP like a resource; sometimes just eating the throw might not be such a bad move.

Why's Basta ducking Icy? Did something happen?

He doesn't like that I don't run up and let him win.

I can only guess it's because he doesn't want to play tag with Icy's teleports tonight.

That and a statement earlier in the night about Icy being relieved about not having him pick Chaos.

He just doesn't want to deal with a runaway Yuzu at the moment. It's perfectly understandable especially in netplay where the teleports are harder to react to.

Is it worth getting a fightstick for this or any other fighting game?

If you aren't comfortable playing on whatever controller you have then yes it is. If you like playing on a pad then there's really not any reason to switch.

Not really. It's an investment that can increase response time and consistency but it won't matter unless you're already at the very top of play.

Depends on who you'll be playing and as well as how much time you'll be investing in fighting games in general.

I'm alright with pad but it's easy to miss inputs especially because i'm left handed, and it's hard to know which one I would prefer because I haven't gotten a chance to use a fightstick

Unless it's makotofox and Brett, don't bother

Pad is actually better for UNIST since the D-pad takes priority over the analog stick, letting you dash block far more easily than stick if you can master it

If you can do 236A > 22A > 5C without dropping it you've already cleared the most difficult thing about him.

If you're maining Vatista then some scummy second-input-priority SOCD handling shenanigans might benefit you but if you actually fucking practice your inputs like anyone who cares about the game then the input method you use won't make a major difference.
It's pretty ironic that CB decided to ban the gafroboxes though when fucking DS4s can do the same shit.

It's pretty tight but if you do 236A and 22A as one move (as fast as possible) you'll have a good window for 5C. If you wait to visually confirm 236A you'll miss the window to continue the combo. Once you can consistently land that part, the other stuff becomes exponentially easier (66C > 22A > 5BB, etc.)

It's not just Vatista, unlike on a hitbox where pressing left and right will return to neutral, if you hold left on the joystick then press A+B+right on the D-pad, you basically get a quicker dashblock than stick since you don't need to return to neutral and have a easier time just letting go of the D pad button than moving a stick from left to right. The D-pad input takes priority and overwrites joystick input.

I know how it works. If you practice yoru dashblocks you can buffer them properly during blockstun and the hitbox/ds4 advantage makes no difference

That's the keyword. It's the unarguable truth that dashblocking is easier if you just map one of your 4 unused buttons on an arcade stick to a D-pad directional input rather than practicing dash blocking normally.

Executional difficulty is a fundamental part of fighting games which is why higher damage optimal combos are a hell of a lot more difficult to do than basic BnBs. You can't just ignore it, especially in a game where the best advice that people give for getting in on zoners is "just dashblock".

Either way though there's definitely a small gap between the projectile hit and the 66C hit that can be DP'd on either side depending on the timing, though I can't say I can personally hit that part with a DP with any reliability.
