Every time i start a play through I wish i could make a different character by time i get to BG 2

Don't think about the second one till you get closer to the end it'll ruin the ambiance & atmosphere of going through the sword coast

is it even possible to venture into the clockwood forest to pick up faldorn early

>is it even possible to venture into the clockwood forest to pick up faldorn early

Not in vanilla.

Oh I guess it's off to get Kagain & Shar-Teel then

Rank the games. For me they're in release order. BG1 > TotSC > BG2 > ToB (beamnigger garbage fanfics don't count)

I discovered that wand has scorcher ability because of this webm despite playing the game for years

Beamdog is a guilty of a number of different crimes. Here are the major ones.

1. The Enhanced Editions are essentially a collection of free mods that had existed for nearly twenty years. Beamdog gathered them all up, slapped "Enhanced Edition" on it and resold it as a new product. There's very very little in the Enhanced Editions that wasn't already out there, and most of it is stuff you don't want (like obnoxious character outlines).

2. The games didn't sell so well and the originals were still far outselling them, even twenty years after their release, so Beamdog had EVERY digital distributor stop selling the originals and ONLY sell the Enhanced Edition. If you want to buy a digital copy of the originals now, they're "bundled" into the Enhanced Edition. Now these scumbags can claim sales from people just wanting to buy the originals as their own.

3. The infamous 600+ bugs on launch. The game is still riddled with bugs (as even a perfunctory glance over their forums show) but the fact that it took nearly two years for them to get a game that had been working fine for 20 years to reach playability after launch is telling of their wild incompetence.

4. This is where we get to the ones that really piss people off. Beamdog couldn't just remaster the game, they had to fuck with the content too. New dialogue for existing NPCs like Jaheira, Viconia, Safana, Kivan, et cetera was written in to make the characters more progressive and leftist friendly. Beamdog shills will argue that "adding content isn't changing content XDDD" but it is when the new content changes the core personalities of the existing characters. This is in addition to adding a slew of their own LGBT (hitherto there were none in Baldur's Gate) NPCs, all flooded with OP attributes and magic items to encourage people to play them despite their cancer.

5. Siege of motherfucking Dragonspear.

Das it mayne

>these fuckers with scs
aaaaaaaaaaa

at least you're close enough to a priest that you don't have to lug all your killed party members shit with you

>have one character with high MR and boots of speed go in
>run about until the casters exhaust their most powerful spells
>send the rest of the group up the stairs once the the most deadly spells have been wasted
Fuck 'em.

Anyone else use the mod that makes some creatures closer to their pnp versions? I think it was atweaks. How do you deal with demons in this?

Is Icewind Dale allowed?

You're a queer fellow!

That's why you dualclass at the start of BG2. Preferably into Mage.

I used the one with characters packed closer together so you could pick who you wanted super early like Viconia

Attached: FRIENDLYARMINN.jpg (480x360, 62K)

Jaheira IS a CUTE mommy wife anons! You SHOULD romance Jaheira IN Baldur's Gate AND Baldur's Gate 2 anons! (You should! You should!)

Attached: Sequel Jaheira.png (210x330, 136K)

>Viconia
Literally walk of the eastern edge of that map, go to Peldvale and get her right at the start of the game. How hard is that?

>returning from werewolf island in bgtutu
>confront the guy who sent me there in the expansion town
>he summons a deva

Obviously it was a bug and this was a while back so I'm sure it's been fixed. But I at least got to appreciate just how easily a ToB enemy will splatter an endgame BG1 party. Holy shit

Those icewind dale portraits don't mesh well with the bg ones. I always made mine 80s action stars like jcvd and mr t

Your party is packed at the start of the game unless you want to fail one of those quests or kick out Imoen.

I was fine with original portraits, but now I'm googling and replacing them all. THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT!

Thank YOU user! You ARE a GOOD user!

>Spend an hour following a modding guide installing various restorations, game fixes, and mods like Baldur's Gate Trilogy
>Few hours in find a bugged trap in Durlag's Tower you can't disarm even if you 200 trap detection
>Look it up, apparently this is a known issue that's existed since the 90s
>None of the mods, patches, or restorations thought this was something worthwhile to fix
I mean yeah you can get around it but would it seriously be so hard to correct?

I sure can't wait for BG3

Attached: sassy halfling druid.png (285x547, 100K)

why its the original ui so fucking sexy and why the new games didnt just copy pasted it?

How did you enjoy this classic adventure filled with chirping birds & the yapping of killer gnolls user?

you play the enhanced like a regular person whould.

why do you fall still pray to the retards that polulate this wannabe forum?

I just want details for it. All I ask. But none to be had.

Yea Forums told me they're shit and I should mod the classic versions instead.

Did the enhanced editions fix this bug or is it still bugged in there too?

Did you find a good all replacement pack that somehow fits the game

BG1 > * (nu-bionigger garbage doesn't count)

didnt get that far. The game seems awesome but it is kinda a chore to get through, seems like mostly boomer nostalgia

you should not listen to everything you read just play the enchanted version like normal person there is no reason not to all the new contents can be ignored

proof of 4. I never played

No, I'm replacing them individually, only the characters I use without clashing too heavily with the normal portraits.

Attached: sharteel.jpg (210x330, 25K)

the first bg is not aged so well i would recommend to play bg 2 as the maps are not so big and empty instead they are little smaller but have a lot more contents on them

>Taking both Jaheria/Khalid and Xzar/Montaron pairings together
You're just going to have to drop one pair eventually anyway, assuming they don't kill each other first. Why bother with both on a single playthrough?

Attached: 319045KiKhalid4L.jpg (210x330, 76K)

What does playing just playing the enhanced editions solve though?

Well, you give money to Beamniggers, that's something.

Just do it you stupid goy, and stop asking so many questions.

I just can't bring myself to throw her out of the party.

i want to fuck her even though she is kind of my sister

Didn't the "enhanced" editions get rid of the CGI cut scenes that play at certain moments through the game?

Attached: Early CGI.png (640x480, 150K)

>paying
bros...i don't know how to tell you this.....

this her back story makes every playthrough the same I wish she didnt existed

nah they added some different ones.

shut up goyim!!

Pretty sure there is an option in the menu to re-enable them if you want them, They're restored by default with EET regardless.

They did, and replaced them with badly drawn animated comics. They didn't even replace all of them either, just deleted the rest. I just modded them back in; I wish I did it earlier, could've saved a lot of time looking for Dynaheir if I saw that cutscene at the Gnoll Fortress.

>i want to fuck her
Who doesn't? And she's your half-sister at best.
I'm still kinda-sorta mad that they made her a Bhaalspawn, it just doesn't make sence and killed the opportunity for the most vanilla romance to ever be vanilla'd outside of anime.

I was really bored with it until I discovered Durlag's Tower on my way to Nashkel, this place is quite challenging and I liked that, the rest of the game was incredibly straight forward and it felt like every encounter was the same shit and this actually feel like a game now, I can't cheese my way through everything with a single tactic and now I actually have to rethink my approach. Also I'm like having to use my resources, scrolls, wands, potions, ect the stuff I'd usually just leave in my inventory in most games until the end times.

>Pretty sure there is an option in the menu to re-enable them if you want them

Nope, you need to mod them back in. I don't use EET so not sure about that.

i remember hints of her being into you in throne of baal but they never made it official

So what's the deal with these games? I heard they are bad? But the fan made mods are great? What? And the DLCs for 1 and 2 are great? Is that it?

Attached: 2289-neverwinter-014-svnap.jpg (1024x768, 79K)

>I discovered Durlag's Tower on my way to Nashkel
In most scenarios this sounds like a terrible mistake

No no user the single player story mode is alright it's the expansions after that that are amazing & the custom servers & mods are literally endless, you want a massive library of character builds NWN is the game for you

This is only for the first game I think. Idk why they didn't do it for 2

Because it's a stupid move and people complained.

I dunno I as third level already, I did the whole Gullykin village and Firewine bridge areas just fine.

With SCS the wizard there was pretty though but once I read through my scrolls I found the scroll of "protection from magic" wasn't just a way to buff your magic resistance but instead was a way to lock down any magic user it solved the encounter right there and suddenly this all powerful mage was pudding.

The encounters in Durlags however have been a step above anything else so far so I'm enjoying it. The main plot stuff was putting me to sleep, going through Beregost nearly saw me dropping the game because every NPC had a story and you had to read through a mountain of text every time you entered a building and I was worried that was going to be the whole game.

>an endgame BG1 party
With the level cap in place that's what, level 9 Mage and level 10 Fighter? Pfft.

Considering he didn't answer the implied question in your first post and the explicitly asked question in your second post I lean towards "it does jack shit".

>I dunno I as third level already
>Durlag's Tower
Ow. I hope you brought a lot of lube.

Everything is throwing exp at me like it's candy so far, those basilisks gave my entire party basically a free level.

>basilisks
Oh, so you're still in the tower. Have fun. And write a will. Just in case.

Yeah I looked it up, and unsurprisingly it turns out it's still there even in the EEs

It is a little surprising that I install this 20 year old game, download all these patches, fixes, mods, ect, it even gets a enhanced edition and no one thought to fix this bug I encounter only a few hours after starting despite forum posts archived from the fucking 90's mentioning it's impossible and bugged. You'd think people would have fixed something like this by now and it'd be included by default in the community patch fix compilation thing.

Don't worry so much, I'm probably way better at video games than you were when you were 8 and got rekt here.

I'll always disagree with this because Planescape Torment EE is actually worth it due to UI changes making combat infinitely more tolerable. Combat wheel original release had was mental. I'll never understand why they keep enabling those ugly character outlines by default, though.

Attached: planescapetormentenhancedgameplay.jpg (1599x857, 273K)

>dat feel when IWD2 will never happen because it would actually require work

I didn't have BG1 when it was new, only played it several years ago. And unless by "way better at video games" you mean saving every few minutes you're in for a ride. Triply so if you have SCS.

Literally one thing you need to understand about BG1 to get through it is you're the game's bitch because it's low level AD&D. I didn't have any problems with it when I played it first as a kid simply by equipping everyone with a ranged weapon. How so many [adult] people today seem to have problems with it is beyond me. Shit, I didn't even understand the ruleset back in the day.

because of increasing shift to hand holding in games. people can't actually THINK for themselves anymore.

And you are a perfect example of it.

Heh, didn't realize you're an overconfident twenty-something. Godspeed.

>twenty-something
Yeah.

Attached: ambushed.jpg (166x180, 15K)

That was actually a different guy but yeah putting a ranged weapon on everyone does solve a good 60% of encounters in this game.

can you do horrendous rolls like rolling 1 for wizard's initial health, for example? or was "max CON bonus" rule already in?

Why are you trying so hard? Durlag's is a cake walk, they give you enough wands of lightning bolt and fireball to make the whole area your bitch.

Attached: 1560670039522.webm (1384x1080, 2.67M)

One of the mods by default changes it so the game uses the NWN system where the only rolls higher that average are used so if you're supposed to roll a 1d6 the only numbers that are possible are 4, 5, and 6.

He's talking about Durlag's Tower, mate. Which he entered at level 3. And keeps being cocky despite several not too transparent hints. I bet he doesn't even know that it's from Tales of the Sword Coast, the expansion players were expected to experience AFTER completing the main game. My only regret is not being there to taste his tears when he finds Aec'Letec.

That's pretty much it, yeah. The plot for 1's campaign is unironically "you graduate a school of adventurers, now find 4 McGuffins". It gets better, but not by much.
The expansions have better plots and gameplay. NWN1 has TONS of campaigns by the community, lots are better than the official campaigns.
NWN2 doesn't have as many modules, as creating campaigns was harder. The OC can have its moments, but it throws plotlines all over, the result feels very cliche. Mask of the Betrayer is one of the best storytelling in crpgs short of Planescape:Torment.

>The plot for 1's campaign is unironically "you graduate a school of adventurers, now find 4 McGuffins". It gets better, but not by much.
There's a lot of neat little details along the way, though. The Many-Starred Cloak quests are pretty varied and interesting, for example. The story is more or less a backdrop. SoU feels a bit empty in comparison to Neverwinter the city. Although pretty similar to third act, with those tablets.

>Which he entered at level 3. And keeps being cocky despite several not too transparent hints.
He said he finished Firewine bridge, if he already beat Kahrk at that level nothing in Durlag's short of the Demon Knight will give him any real trouble.

>nothing in Durlag's short of the Demon Knight
Garden + SCS.

He'll probably be level 5 or 6 by then and they shouldn't be much trouble. Durlag's is tough at low levels but the area gives you tons of experience and powerful loot for your trouble and it's by no means impossible. Also he'd have to travel to the other side of the worldmap before he encounters Aec'Letec and he said he was on his way to Nashkel so he'd probably be at level cap by then the way he meanders around on his way to locations.

>I asked if Baldur’s Gate III would have turn-based or real-time-with-pause combat.
>“This is one of those interviews where we’ll be saying ‘We’re not talking about that yet’ a lot,” Vincke said. “When it comes to the combat system, we prefer to show it to people rather than talk about it. That will hammer it home. But it will still be some time before we actually show it.”
>That shift to modern D&D rules is the biggest clue we get as to how the game will play. It means saying goodbye to the Infinity Engine, for starters. “Those were great games for their time, but next year is 2020 and you can’t do the same things you did back then. No one would want to play it. Well, people would want to play it, but it wouldn’t meet the expectations of a modern video game” says Vincke.
Oh boy, can't wait!

I hope they don't do rtwp for bg3, as heretical as it maybe.

5E is fine tuned for a simpel and snappy tabletop experience, it's streamlined for quick and easy play without stopping to do math or calculations and seems antithetical to a fun CRPG where mechanical depth is generally a blessing rather than a speedbump.
