It didn't. Pokémon killed itself. It's not even that the newest game is so bad that everyone just dropped it; Pokémon has been killing itself for more than half a decade by releasing rushed, shitty, low-content games. Those games sold well so GF then LOWERED the bar with each successive game.
Pokémon fans have been bitching about the games since XY (some longer than that). Sword and Shield just finally got the notice of casuals because of the National Dex purge, and then they looked around and finally noticed how shitty everything else has been for a while.

The reason people are paying attention to Digimon now is because the last couple games have been very well-received and a new port of one of said games is getting released soon, and people are finally saying "well Pokémon's dead, so maybe I should finally give this a look." I'm personally in that camp, probably going to try that one DS game I saw someone recommend in an earlier thread.

It's the first game I've been excited for in awhile. It looks like a thought out approach to the digimon lore. And I learned the other day that this is only to tide people over until the next Story game, which is supposed to be the best game to date.

the new story game is being developed with the ps4 as the base (instead of the weak-ass vita), will take place in the digital world, and isn't a sequel to cyber sleuth. plus, since the story games sell better in the west, they're going to want to impress western audiences. i wouldn't be surprised if it has a tales of arise-tier graphical upgrade.

I grow more interested in Survive each time they release more information. I'm interested to see how much the player's choices will affect how the story plays out since they already confirmed that there can be one-off evolution based on the character's emotional state so I'm hoping the protagonist can end up with a SkullGreymon moment. I'm also happy that it looks like the protagonist is actually going to be his own character instead of a silent protagonist like the story games which should help story flow and some of the more emotional moments.

I would since every Digimon game is now being developed for the Switch as well. It ain't gonna be that much of a jump

Of note, the DS games (Digimon World DS, Dawn/Dusk, and all the japan-only Digimon Story games) are okay to pretty good, all depending on how well you handle surprisingly high encounter rates and a weird/different grinding/EXP system.

So here's the rundown on how Marcus' bullshit works. In Digimon, when you have a Digivice and use it to evolve your partner, you're focusing your emotional energy and spirit through the Digivice like a filter, which then gets sent to your partner as fuel to evolve. In Digimon Savers, the folks with Digivices physically amass this in their hands and pump it through the Digivice on demand.
Marcus is an anomaly, as he basically can't get his spirit high enough to manifest that energy on demand, and the only way he CAN hype himself up enough to do it is punching the shit out of a Digimon, THEN push it through the Digivice.
As for how the punches of this human can rock a Digimon so hard it knocks them flat on their ass, can you possibly imagine the amount of energy required to force a living being to evolve, grow in size and become that much stronger? Now imagine focusing all that energy into a single point the size of a fist and hitting something with it. He's basically a missile fueled on hype and courage.

I have no idea what you enjoy about it, because the game is literally just about grinding. There's almost no plot to speak of, no animations to enjoy, no interesting battle mechanics, no level design. Just grinding.

I find it comfy. I like the farm and following pokemon, the battle system isn't amazing but it's one that I enjoy spending time with. I'm not saying it's a good game, but I do like it a lot.
