Because Capcom probably gave them a discount so they could advertise their game. Sony was extremely cheap with the roster of that game. They couldn't even afford Crash Bandicoot who at the time didn't have a game for like five years.

If they do give it another go I hope they make it a traditional fighter and hope to GOD they improve the roster. Even ignoring how bad the third parties were Sony had a lot of missed opportunities with their own IPs

Still have Big Boss with actual guns and a kit better suited for PSABR with all the arms and other items he has at his disposal, Cloud is the most recognized FF character but Noctis and other FF Protags like Squall are still pretty good, not to mention Crono is a possibility.

From the way they worded it, it doesn't sound like it's gonna be anything special. If they do have something big, the wording would be more like "Stay tuned for a special announcement!" or "We might have a surprise or two!". The words "more news" feel like absolutely nothing.
