This game is awful. What the hell were they thinking?
This game is awful. What the hell were they thinking?
i like it
At least it wasn't as bad as Morrowind.
Like all Bethesda products, mods fix (most) everything.
That's why they want to sell them to you.
Better than skyrim
When the novelty of the game wears off, it really does suck. If you played previous TES games, Oblivion is a disappointment as to how watered down the whole game is. The Shivering Isles is probably the only great part of the game, and that's just a fucking expansion. Imagine that. The expansion being better than the base game itself.
It will probably now solidified as best ever elder scrolls. It brought the most true fans into the series and is remembered and loved by all, unlike skyrim which probably sold more and had more players but likely were full of normies that played for 7 hours and put it down.
I don't trust todd and his feminism crew to not fuck the next one up horribly.
as if you ever played Morrowind
Skyrim is worse in this respect
I did when it came out and enjoyed it. I never thought it was anywhere near perfect and was glad they fixed its shortcomings starting with the combat.
Morrowind was my first elder scrolls game and I thought it was the greatest thing ever when it came out. Oblivion was very disappointing in comparison.
yeah because repeatedly clicking away to take down spongy enemies is fun.
but oblivion also further dismantled the magic system and fucked up the level scaling. While Oblivion is a relaxing and peaceful game Morrowind has better and more diverse atmosphere and i think the music is best as well. I also hate that you stop being able to kill ai linked with the main quest in Oblivion.
it had the best quests. all daggerfall quests were randomized with little story. morrowind wasnt much better, it had three "naked barbarian quests", every other quest was a fetch quest or an escort quest. even the great houses amount to "collect five muck or sload soap, kill this man, get me this artifact". oblivion quests were much more interesting and had a few twists, the guilds had their own story lines, the thieves guild actually had you be a thief. the expansions were also very deep unlike morrowinds which amounted to repetitive dungeon crawls
It's the best western RPG of all time
this
So assassinating people for Morag Tong is a fetch quest?
Not going to defend Oblivions scaling. It was atrocious but it was a step in the right direction.
Far better than the game losing all sense of danger ala Morrowind.
Morrowind had storylines for the guilds. Actually the guiids you chose effected one another and the house quests make you chose a house to side with. I'm replaying Oblivion right now i'm on hour 72 and there are no choices between factions.
>This game is awful
give it a few more chances. just explore.
I won't pretend to say that Oblivion's quests were horrible, because they were pretty good compared to the likes of Skyrim. As for Morrowind, I disagree. Yeah there were fetch and escort quests; but the main quest for Morrowind and the house quests were done pretty well. The whole process of becoming a Nerevarine in my mind is far more interesting and outlandish in concept than generic "hero of the land" and "Empire's little helper". Oblivion didn't give you the intriguing demigod status or related esoteric that Morrowind gave.
Oblivion having an over arching narrative for the guild was a vast improvement over Morrowinds Do random shit until you are in charge.
Congrats, OP, it only took you 5 threads to get more than 10 replies.
yeah, when most people you go to assassinate dont even have any character themselves and just spout the same generic dialogue
im literally doing a morrowind playthrough now. outside of the main quest, all the other quests are generic. i became grand magister of house telvanni in 25 ingame days just by doing errands for the councilers. the story line is simply "do chores until you get a patron, then do chores until you become the house leader". probably the only interesting quests in the game are temple quests
except it is the exact same with oblivion. I'm replaying oblivion now.
It's rough, but I had fun with it.
Why 90% of the threads start with a hate post?
Lol
easy way to stir discussion
in oblivion if you do some digging you can find out who wanted who dead. for example you cab find a house in the imperial city thats been locked down by the guard because a night mother ritual was performed there. you can find the man who wanted rufio dead in the imperial city prison
that's pretty sweet
Oblivion is unplayable dreck. That there are people here defending it is troubling. I can only assume that it's ironically, as the alternative is that they are retarded, and I've been raised to believe the best in people.
Even Shivering Isles is a meme. I actually went and explored EVERY dungeon and not one had anything rare or unique to make them worth exploring. You would just get amber. They are only relevant when you are doing quests. I was let down.
I bet you love skyrim
Same thing with Skyrim. Only Morrowind is worth exploring. Although exploring in Oblivion can find you some side quests.
The only way to have threads on Yea Forums is to first kick the wasp nest, then weather the storm and then you can have a comfy thread.
It has a Console UI
Its gameplay is simple enough for Consoles
Its rendering distance and number of NPCs at one time is Console compatible
The story is dumbed down enough for your typical Console player
They were banking on selling it to the Console kids.
They succeeded.
Stop right there criminal scum.
they sure as hell weren't thinking that anonymous faggots on an anonymous image board were going to shit on it 20 years later, that's for damn sure
No it's not. For starters Morrowind's NPCs don't have any routines, so it's pretty lame when your assassination target is just standing in one spot all the time. Also Oblivion's Dark Brotherhood quests had fun gimmicks like waiting for the old man to sit in his chair before dropping the wall fixture on him, and of course the Whodunit quest. Morrowind just didn't have the technology for that kind of stuff.
>radiant AI
>faces were a laughing stock right from the stat
>first game from Bethesda to feature STAR VOICE CAST for a few characters and then 5 janitors as everyone else
>chat pie
>enemy scaling
>anything above medium is unplayable
>mage guild
>main quest
still pretty fun
Skyrim is playable dreck, which puts it well above Oblivion, not that that's a statement of quality.
So GTA4?
I liked poisoning the guys food in Morrowind but you're right it wasn't interactive enough. I don't feel like the ai in oblivion moving around made it much more immersive cuz after you follow someone all day they don't usually go to work or do any normal shit they just walk around and come back. Sometimes they do specific things though like that dude you kill in the skooma den.
I bet you love penis
If it's a choice between sucking dick and playing Oblivion, faggotry is a strong contender.
I still don't know if I prefer oblivion over skyrim.
Oblivion has:
>Better overworld
>Better dungeons
>Better magic
>Better quests
>Better ost
but with:
>hideous npcs
>1 voice actor per race
Skyrim has:
>better combat(it's oblivion's but with shield bash and dual wielding)
>okay to look npcs (despite them all looking the same)
>better mods
but with:
>grotesque overworld
>awful quests
Everyone shut up and look at how based this guy is.
I want every last one of your fucks to do everything you can to be as half based as this fucker is.
I unironically think every Bethesda game is unpolished garbage that gets hyped up for absolutely no reason
>Look mommy, im baiting on Yea Forums.
Can you successfully roll a stealth archer in every TES game?
yes.
you should
