Not gonna give this fag a view, what changes does he do to the timeline?
NINTENDO
protip: use hooktube. its specifically for not giving people view stats / ad revenue.
adds hyrule warriors connecting all the timelines ending with BOTW
I'd rather not watch that garbage and skip the cringy everything.
Hyrule Warriors makes no sense after Spirit Tracks
*cries on camera about being bullied after he gave the Pope a copy of Undertale*
Remember when Matpat wasn't an insufferable idiot? What went wrong?
Cringetube aside, I do love that artwork
>Remember when Matpat wasn't an insufferable idiot?
No.
No, I don't remember that
>Remember when Matpat wasn't an insufferable idiot?
no?
Reminder that BotW happens in the fallen hero timeline and no amount of whining will change this
they changed it on youtube's end, hooktube gives them revenue now.
Maybe he's able to reverse it and win?
>implying BotW isn't the TURN A of the zelda timeline.
youtube.com
What are you even trying to say
It seems more like a merge to me.
>Zelda 1 Link holding the Master Sword
shit art
You seems more like a faggot to me.
>people still obsess over a timeline the creators themselves clearly dont give a shit about
>implying OG Link didn't end up getting the Master Sword and being the hero from 10,000 years before BotW
Ganon's dead after Zelda 1 and his chance at resurrecting gets botched in 2
No, and he's a complete fucking idiot who never does his research properly
He was dead after ALttP too and that didn't stop his followers to resurrect him. There's always a way
Smartest post in this whole thread.
>Salt rock
No an argument
>Rito, Zora, etc.
Evolution doesn't mean extinction
>Twili
The twilight existed waaaay before OoT, so how's this an argument
>Ruto
We don't know if it's the same "Ruto", but if it is then fair enough, still doesn't explain how it connects to the other timelines.
gametheory thumbnails are always absolutely atrocious
>make the eyes big
>upside down mouth
We know it's the same Ruto
That's one of the reasons it's the downfall timeline
Gundam is a show that has multiple alternate universes/timelines, but turn A takes place in a conceptual timeline that is set so far into the future that all events of the alternate universe shows happend in that timeline.
In that timeline mankind's history and technology has been destroyed and that lost history is called the dark history.
No one knows when or how it happend, but all the AU series somehow took place within that timeline within that dark history which is god knows how many millenia long.
sure but it's usually several decades after he's attacked, so it wouldn't be Z1/2 Link
It very clearly takes place in the Adult timeline, since it explicitly states that Ruto awakened as a sage and Medli is also a sage.
How old are you user?
>direct linking motherfucking game theory
jesus fucking christ man
was it autism?
Yeah except you are wrong because they never stated Medli is a sage and in the adult timeline Ganondorf gave up and no longer desires to attack Hyrule, the hero and the princess
Not to mention the Triforce itself made sure his body, the Master Sword and Hyrule were buried forever and ever
>gay theory
Not even Nintendo cares about the timeline
Wow that's incredibly stupid, also factually impossible no matter how you put it
If I get married with someone and our family gives birth to the next Hitler in some universe and I marry other chick and our son becomes the next Gandi in other then no matter how much time passes, the two universes are 100% irreconcilable
What makes it specifically in the downfall timeline?
>Caring about a timeline in a gameplay-driven series that was intended to be a soft reboot after every game
Please stop.
the thumbnail is already cringy enough
The fact that they said it was in game isn't enough for you?
how does he do it?
The post above yours is why it can't be the adult timeline and it can't be the child timeline either because in the child timeline
>the last Ganondorf to ever appear in Hyrule's history isn't OoT Ganondorf, the gerudo king, the tradition is changed and the male gerudo now becomes the "gerudo guardian"
>Ganon has never been sealed by the combined efforts of hero, princess and sages, only by sages alone (TP when sealed in the Twilight Realm) or by the hero alone (FSA when sealed in the Four Sword)
>Ruto and Nabooru never became sages, other guys took their places
All this contradicts BotW's backstory of
>Calamity Ganon being the hate of the gerudo king and said king being THE LAST male gerudo to ever exist (in other words, Calamity Ganon comes from the king Ganondorf that appears in OoT, not from guardian Ganondorf that appears in FSA)
>Ganon being sealed by the hero, the princess and sages in the past
>Ruto and Nabooru being awakened as sages and sealing Ganon at least once in the past
But all fits with the downfall timeline
>Ganon resurrects every two minutes in this timeline, rather than reincarnate like he did in the child timeline
>Ganon fought the hero, the princess and was sealed by sages in ALBW
>Ruto and Nabooru became sages and sealed him in OoT
It's pretty easy when you put it this way, just compare BotW's lore with each timeline's
>BotW timeline
>Ganondorf refuses to stay death and resurrects a lot
>Ganondorf has been sealed by the sages Nabooru and Ruto (and others)
>Ganondorf has been sealed by ancient sages after fight the hero (assisted by the princess)
>Ganondorf's last birthright was the position of gerudo king
>adult timeline
>Ganondorf accepts death and gives up, he's not a thing anymore
>Ganondorf has been sealed by the sages Nabooru and Ruto (and others)
>Ganondorf has been sealed by ancient sages after fight the hero (assisted by the princess)
>Ganondorf's last birthright was the position of gerudo king
>child timeline
>Ganondorf accepts death but doesn't give up and reincarnates
>Ganondorf has been sealed by unnamed sages
>Ganondorf has been sealed by ancient sages without fight the hero before
>Ganondorf's last birthright was the position of gerudo guardian
>downfall timeline
>Ganondorf refuses to stay death and resurrects a lot
>Ganondorf has been sealed by the sages Nabooru and Ruto (and others)
>Ganondorf has been sealed by ancient sages after fight the hero (assisted by the princess)
>Ganondorf's last birthright was the position of gerudo king
On one condition.
The heroes are incapacitated, Zelda's are captured, all hope is lost, then out of nowhere, Wind Waker Ganondorf struts up to his multiverse counterpart with a fucking army of multiverse gerudo who end up being the decedents of GROOSE therefore the third hidden final army behind the triforce of power comes in and saves everyone at the end.
An army of Gerudo hotties anons. A GERUDO ARMY WHO HAVE NO VOES IMAGINE
He doesn't even have lines attached to his gems which could suggest a detachment from the plot due to being the most mortal.
Even acknowledging the time line at all is given it more thought than it deserves.
Name of the fanfic?
I'd give a sarcastic answer but that literally came from my brain.
HIRE THIS MAN
The entire point of BOTW's placement is to make it so far down in any timeline that none of the previous events really matter, they just want to soft reboot it and that's canon.
>muh reboot meme
Literally confirmed canon.
>muh fanfics
>an imaginary reboot not happening is a fanfic, but said reboot happening because you say so is canon
This has to be bait
Write the fanfic now, then
For that it would have to be good though
So it is like some kind of Schrodinger's timeline or some shit? like no one knows which one is the the correct history so they're ALL correct?
How about I just skip the entire thing?
wait, there's actually people caring about the Zelda timeline?
The thing that was obviously fumbled together and doesn't fit in multiple places and was just used as a selling point for Hyrule Historia?
>GR: Where does Breath of the Wild fit within the official Zelda timeline?
>"It takes place in an age long, long after any of the titles released to date."
gamerant.com/zelda-breath-of-the-wild-director-speed-run-future/
And if you read the rest it's clear why there are hints for each of the timelines, it's meant to be a fresh start. If you played any of the previous games you can find nods to them.
In the end it can be in the downfall just as much as it can be child or adult timelines. The whole point is that it would be whatever the player knows and is attached to; their favorite games.
So in the end, believing and speculating that it's in the downfall timeline is probably intended, too.
It always made sense.
Zelda 2 was a direct sequel to Zelda 1.
A link to the past was made as a prequel and it even mentions that a previous hero had failed.
Ocarina of time was always supposed to be the imprisoning war from A link to the past.
Wind Waker was always a sequel to Ocarina of time, and when that game came out they said that OoT had two endings, Adult and Child.
Twilight Princess was stated in an interview to be happening parallel to WW.
PH was a direct sequel to WW, and then had ST be another direct sequel.
Link's awakening and Oracle of Seasons/Ages were all sequels to ALTTP.
A link between worlds was a sequel to those, too.
I don't see why people think it was made up.
>completely ignoring Link's crossbow training
you obviously have no idea what you're talking about
People put way more fucking autism into either explaining or deriding the timeline than is necessary.
The only really contrived placements are Four Swords Adventures and Oracle of Ages/Seasons. You could argue the Defeated Timeline is bullshit but OoT was clearly a prequel to LttP, it just didn't completely line up with LttP's explanation of events, so they had to come up with an extra scenario. Everything else is a sequence of prequels and sequels.
Oh and as for BotW, Nintendo intentionally put the game way after everything else and made some really shameless forced references to previous games. Maybe BotW2 will clarify things since it might explain what the deal with Ganondorf is.
>emember when Matpat wasn't an insufferable idiot?
What? Are you high?
The timeline doesn't need to be fixed, it needs to go away all together.
It's at least an attempt to make the timelines converge.
Also made me a little interested in playing Hyrule Warriors
Polygon unironically did this better youtube.com
Wasn't botw supposed to take place in the meme timeline were link does in oot? Or is that shit not Canon anymore?
Not to mention Wand of Gamelon and Faces of Evil, reading it now I realize my mistake.
In retrospect, BOTW is probably in the CD-i timeline...
You can eat Octoroks, there are Glutko looking enemies, Zelda's ass is similar to how it looks in the cartoon that inspired the CD-i games, Death Mountain has what is probably remnants of the faces of evil and just as Faces of Evil's playable character is Link and Wand of Gamelon's is Zelda, BOTW1 had Link and BOTW2 will feature Zelda's adventure, I'm sure of it.
Footpussy
Well yeah, that's kind of the point of BOTW.
Then you win
Hooktube died last year. How slow are you?
The only problem is in connecting the games that weren't intended to connect.
>AOL is explicitly designed to follow LOZ
>ALTTP was made and billed as the prequel to both
>LA was a personal project that got turned into a continuation of ALTTP
>OOT was sold as the distant prequel to ALTTP
>MM outright uses the same Link and starts with a followup of a plotpoint from OOT
>OOS/OOA made to vaguely fit after ALTTP plotwise but with new setting elements from OOT
>WW introduces the idea of a split timeline and follows OOT explicitly
>PH and then ST explicitly follow WW with the same characters
>TP introduced to follow OOT in the MM timeline, references back to it. Plot impetus is a followup of another OOT plotpoint
>SS designed as the ultimate prequel to everything, doesn't really need to 'call back' to anything
>FS designed to follow MC, but otherwise they're both really timeline agnostic
>ALBTW a direct sequel to ALTTP as well, even uses the same Hyrule.
Basically, the only things that confuse people are on a couple of problems, like what the fuck is up with FSA (real answer is a fucky rewrite during development, this is documented,) and BOTW (Nintendo is itself wishy washy,) trying to directly connect extremely vastly spaced games (like someone trying to reconcile ST with TP for some reason,) the Downfall Timeline (all of its games could just follow TP instead, but it's not hard to grasp if you just get over that,) or idiots trying to canonize spinoffs (like the CDI games) for no real reason. But worst of all are those who get caught up on minor, irrelevant details like Zelda is real and not just a videogame, refusing to accept what Nintendo intended because their minds can't handle the fact that Lake Hylia gets moved around and other little things like that.
This
I don't know. I can't listen to anyone with that kind of voice for very long.
>previous games happen between year X and year Y, BotW happens long after year Y
>therefore it's a reboot
Okay I'm stop reading you know okay? You can stop shitposting. Retard.
Yeah because Ganon has never ever escaped imprisonment before.
When? What timeline do you come from?
Not going to watch a shitty youtube video.
Just take the whole retarded "failure timeline" and put it after FSA, problem solved.
The timeline where Link does what?
I think it's best you do stop reading, considering you don't know how to.
He's not imprisoned, he's dead and in peace
Dies. It's supposed to be Aounuma's official fuckery.
>their minds can't handle the fact that Lake Hylia gets moved around and other little things like that
that happens a lot
Hyrule's geography can never be taken into account when dealing with this shit, just headcanon that it's constantly shifting if you have to
Right after he stopped doing physics based ones that he just gave another guy to do those things instead.
Yeah that's what the post says, "downfall timeline" (also know as "the fallen hero timeline") is called that way because the hero of Ocarina of Time dies and the sages and other future heroes have to deal with Ganon in his place
He didn't die in WW. He can't die.
Really, when you're dealing with a fictional setting, especially one that's designed with the game first and story second, you just need to accept inconsistencies. The Zelda devs do intend, with most games, to connect them to a prior game in some way, dispelling the argument that it's a clusterfuck and none are connected, but they don't care about changing minor details or fucking about with Hyrule to make the gameplay more interesting, nor do they care about keeping vastly spaced games consistent with one another. They're not Tolkien, worldbuilding is something they do to enhance the adventure, not for its own sake or to construct an overarching narrative/world.
Did he really?
Fuck off underage.
Even the most recent game expressed that Ganon can die, he's just refusing to, user.
>he didn't die in WW
Except he did according to Historia and Encyclopedia.
>he can't die
He lost the Triforce of Power before the final battle, of course he can die.
Hyrule Warriors can fit anywhere due to time travel, but it’s non canon anyway so it doesn’t matter
I'm not watching that shit, but actually caring about the Zelda timeline is kinda stupid.
He said it's a 'soft reboot.' That means the previous games DID happen, but it was long ago enough that it doesn't really matter to the present situation. For example, WW could have been a soft reboot if every game afterwards had followed it instead since they effectively erased Hyrule in the end.
Well see . The games have always been connected. The problem is only when, summed up very briefly from that post, people get fucking autistic about the details.
It's still fun when stuff like WW referencing the Hero of Time and the sages happens.
Also some people enjoy putting the pieces together, kinda like a puzzle even if it wasn't all intended.
>he
Stop pretending you aren't trying to get more (You)s again
>w-well the other games happened but it doesn't matter!
It matters because what hapened in WW for example contradicts what happens in BotW
>It matters because what hapened in WW for example contradicts what happens in BotW
How so? Never played either btw
I'm not him. My first post was . I'm simply trying to explain the concept of a soft reboot to you.
>It matters
No, not really. All that matters is that Hyrule was a place, no hero saved it, and now you've destroyed it to make a break from that past. Actual events in prior games don't actually matter, any events from them are gone with Hyrule.
>It matters
Not really. If BotW takes place ten million years after the timelines or something what happened in those games wouldn't really matter all that much tbhl
>no because I say so
Yikes
>Actual events in prior games don't actually matter
Not in the adult timeline because they actually break form the past like you said, but BotW's entire conflic is about the ancient villain from the past, Ganon.
And if someday the resurrect Ganon in the adult timeline again then the previous games would matter for that timeline again.
>how so
Read the thread
Ganon as a creature, especially as this formless evil presence without a body or a mind, requires only that a game like SS (which establishes the whole Link/Zelda/Great Evil trinity) happens beforehand, not any specific timeline event or space in years.
What do yall think of them Zelda theory channels on youtube? Like HMK and stuff
explain how the master sword isn't on ganondorf's head?
Who knows? A game could be made to explain some asshole with a magitech submarine digging it up. It doesn't matter, it was so long ago anything could have happened and happened since.
I prefer speculation about specific ruins and geographical features, maybe even history, to people focusing directly on the timeline.
Except several other plot points contradict BotW's lore The Ganon from BotW can't exist in any timeline that isn't the adult one
>Deep Hyrulean sea Sheikah submarine exploration game
I didn't know I wanted that
That user's post actually makes an argument for the Downfall Timeline, not the Adult one. As for the Adult one, all it requires is a single asspull (someone at some point dug up his body and pulled out the sword so he came back.) The only one that causes any real problems is the Child Timeline.
No, the post makes arguments for ALL timelines, that's the point. BotW is a game that works when you think about the games of that timeline, not others, the moment you change timeline because "the previous games doesn't matter" you fuck the story up
>That's the point
So it's timeline agnostic so they don't have to worry about the timeline going forward (unless they want to go back eventually, which they probably will.) You effectively just agreed with me and the original guy talking to you, you're just complaining about the conception of it as a soft reboot.
Wait was that the same guy?
As who?
The guy who was arguing over the definition of soft reboot is not the one you replied to, is he? That guy was making an argument for the Downfall timeline
I don't know, and I can't know. He continued the conversation and there's no one else replying, might as well go with that until there's some clarification otherwise.
anyone wanna go have a drink
Yes. Pick me up at my place in 15.
not with you
That illustration is so fucking wrong. TLoZ Link never used the master sword.
Wait for BotW prequel to explain this guy is that Link a few years after AoL when Ganon's army manages to steal the Triforce of Power and resurrect Ganon (again)
Prove me wrong
