i think there has been a reversal on this generation of consoles in the matter of what each console does best
as an owner of both ps3 and x360, the ps3 had a better functionality (can play ps1 and ps2 games, bluray player, controler with proper internal battery, uses a regular, easily replaceable usb cable and accepts any laptop hard drive to use) meanwhile the x360 had the better exclusive games (in my view).
but now, the xbone seems to have the better functionality (plays x360 and og-xbox games without having to re-buy them) while the ps4 has the better exclusive games (again, in my view)

To be fair that happened to our 80GB PS3 (the first of the non bc batch) phat in 2011ish. Fucking 4 machines RSOD in 18 months. That gen was a shit show.

It was much less prevalent on PS3 though. I've been running my own LAN center for the last 10 years and all of our original 360s have died for some reason or another. Usually rrod. Worst thing that happened with our PS3s was one of them getting corrupted and needing a reformat. Fuck having to install games on PS3 though. That shit sucked.

If I were you, I'd be coming to terms with the fact the Switch is a handheld. That way, it doesn't seem as shit compared to Microsoft, Sony, and PC.

This. Growing up all the neighborhood kids would hang out my place because we had SNES and N64. The kids with Sega's were always seething about how no one wanted to play their sonic machines.

It didn't really get "fixed" until MS released the 360S consoles.The OG ones still had a pretty high failure rate even after their improvements.
