I seriously hope all ten Dragon Quest games get remade in the format and engine of Eleven. It made everything about the series work. It would also mean every installment in the series could have a basically identical remake on PlayStation, Switch, Xbox, and PC.

8, 11, and 4 were kino. The rest were okay but didn't blow me away like the top 3. A lot of people go crazy for 5 because of its story, and they are right. But I didn't like the gameplay.
I'm not a fan of recruiting and fighting with monsters. Sure you can just use your human allies, but some monsters are really good like the King Cureslime. I still remember spending hours trying to catch that fucker along with some other monsters. That brought it down for me a lot.

I managed to get the Joker download as soon as it was available and played him without looking at the internet. Did a couple rounds, got 80% of the spirits and then I was curious to see what professionals thought of him.
Imagine my surprise when I go back online and the Top 3 Smash streamers are all stuck watching a download bar slowly fill.

Yes it wasn't balanced well at all. Camps restore you to full HP and MP for free and they're literally fucking everywhere. Inns are obsolete because of this.
Enemies on the field are passive and blind so that the player doesn't get triggered by a battle they didn't want to get into.
It's a step back in so many ways but the story and characters are good so I still had fun with it.
