i just finished it. let me be

nothing.

>What exactly went wrong?
The difficulty curve. Regardless of the difficulty you pick, the game will always be the hardest at the beginning. Once you beat Zangetsu the difficulty will drop and keep dropping throughout the game until you are so powerful it becomes boring. Only Bloodless and the 2 secret bosses was any challenge past Zangetsu.

Another thing that went wrong: Den of Behemoth. It was incredibly boring and as far as I know the only are that was not faithful to the concept art.

That said, the game was overall great and by far exceeded my expectations.

Nailed it. Just this.

>the only are
Meant to say "the only AREA"

Maybe I'm just blind, or dumb or something, but I really can't find the last two rooms that I'm missing for 100% map.
Help!

i got a key to a room filled with music boxes and if i sit in a chair a ghost will appear. i cant get anything to happen. is this it?

Thank you

the second half of the game was dogshit except for the weeb area

I believe so. I don't think Celeste's room is anything. It could be a reference, but unsure what that reference could be

I guess it's just another castlevania but that was a pro for me but I can see it being a con for others.

>Has a marketing of a metroidvania and is not.
>It feels like the protagonist doesn't belong to the game at all. It's like they just took a random waifu and put her in the game.
>Bad bosses battles.
>Strange animations.
>Their main card is nostalgia instead of creating a excellent quality new game.

It's not a bad game but is not a 10/10. 6 or maybe 7/10.

Not enough lewd witches

Small progression issues (Deeseama) clearly rushed final areas (Glacial Tomb and Den of Behemoths, though I enjoyed the latter a lot in spite of knowing why it exists,) a slight lack of enemy variety with a lot of palette swaps and a few too many references and direct callbacks to CV and backers which can have an impact on immersion.

This is my GOTY and I highly doubt anything will come close for me this year but those minor quibbles are my only criticisms. I think most of it can be written off as starting out as a crowdfunded project whose initial goal was to satisfy a very specific demand. Hopefully a sequel can build on this foundation and have a more unique identity than this game did. I'm excited to see what this franchise becomes long term.

It's just a room a backer used to dedicate to their cat who passed away.

Some people claim the music boxes will change the 8-Bit area music but I haven't tested it.

>direct callbacks to CV and backers
What backer stuff?

The audio/game starting to stutter everytime miriam opens her mouth. I'm still waiting for a fix before I continue

The backer portraits, pet enemies, Celeste's room, etc. I didn't really mind it except the portraits, which did end up being kind of all over the place. It wasn't enough to upset me but I did bother to mod them out because why not.

Overall, they're a large part of why the game exists so I don't mind it but I'm hoping the next game can do without and be driven fully by its own art direction.

makes sense. shouldnt have been locked with a key though. literally every player will assume its a boss room

Nothing, game was great. SotN had just as crazy a difficulty curve with the Shield Rod making everything trivial.

>Has a marketing of a metroidvania and is not

Que?

Oh I didn't even realize that was backer stuff but I didn't really follow anything about the kickstarter outside of hey it exists. Celste's room was confusing though cause I thought I was missing some piece of lore somewhere explaining who the hell Celeste was and why her ghost appears when I sat down on the chair but I just assumed it was some sort of random easter egg like the confession room in SotN.

I'd argue SotN was worse. In this game, most spells/items can be brought up to broken status, with a few that stand above the others. SotN had only a couple absolutely busted items and most of your inventory was effectively useless by comparison. Either way, the difficulty is trivialized but at least in Bloodstained you have variety in how you break the game.

>wrong
96% positive buddy 10k reviews

>Tattoos
Yuck!

For the most part, that's about what it is. It exists because a backer wanted it but I'd put it in the same realm as the confession booth in terms of an interesting room that just adds flavor to the castle.

The backer portraits only bothered me because so many of the people have very modern hairstyles and the like so it looks a bit off in the context of the game world. Like I said, not enough to get me booty blasted like some folks but bring able to replace it with Kojima artwork made me happy.

i used the sword grinder purple spell (Heretical Grinder) for most of the game. easy to level up and did a fuck ton of damage for next to no mana.

Was i just lucky to get a extremely broken spell or are all spells like this? i dont think i tried even 10% of them. What's considered the best spell anyway?

>sword grinder
yeah yeah every nigger know this, a lot of people decided to rely on this op shard for the entirety of the game. Sure it must have been an amazing experience.....

>difficulty
isn't literally every Metroidvania ever aside from Portrait of Ruin and Order of Ecclesia piss easy?

>SotN
>"difficulty curve"

user, there are about 15 good ways to solidly break that game completely in half, which isn't even needed as you can quite easily beat the game using only your bare fist to punch with to beat the entire game.

SotN's strengths have nothing to do with its difficulty as it is quite honesly a laughably easy game.

fuck off faggot

You misspelled Jewel Knuckles

I personally didn't mind the portraits mainly cause I didn't actually pay attention to them so I never noticed that hairstyle disconnect you had. Shovel knight showing up as an enemy was pretty jarring for me though.

ah ok. i discovered it on my own without having any knowledge of the game before playing. i admit that it made alot of the fights completely trivial.

Why must shovel knight appear fucking everywhere?

the exact same formula didn't age well

>isn't literally every Metroidvania ever aside from Portrait of Ruin and Order of Ecclesia piss easy?

Huh is it that good? I never really tried it out and mainly stuck with that arrow shard that fired more and more as you leveled it up turning it into a shotgun.

I was talking about the real franchise not fanmade shit.

why was the game littered with book shelves that told me what the exact same button inputs did over and over again?

t. played Hollow Knight as first metroidvania. Castlevania was never serious

Hollow Knight isn't serious either.

Was the game a hit? can we expect a more fleshed out sequel?

Master Carpenter has a fucking aimbot. This nigger reads your inputs.

Miriam not sitting in my face

They're a lot more consistent in difficulty from beginning to end than Bloodstained.

Nah bruh, I've been playing Castlevania since I got SotN with my PS1 in 1997. I'm very much aware that Castlevania was never serious, has nothing to do with "seriousness" -- the series started as a sendup of Universal Horror Monsters and has evil maids with skull vacuum cleaners and bunny transformations.

The issue isn't that it isn't serious -- I didn't mind the pet enemies, Shovel Knight, the silly cheat items or anything like that -- it was just that they were so clearly real people with modern hairstyles that felt very out of place. It wasn't the silliness, just the disconnect from the rest of the game's presentation.

stand on the roof and grind him from above. he literally cant hit you if you stand right above him. easiest boss in the game

Invert bro. He can't hit you directly overhead.

The demons may still give you some trouble but you'll be safe from the Carpenter himself.

That is also one of the OP ones. There are like 15

There's only one for each technique though. The only duplicate bookcase is the one that reminds you to aim your hand at crystally shit since that almost never happens and you might have forgotten about it.

yeah but every technique has the same input. not really but there's like 4 different ones plastered over 30 book cases

So are the guns just fucking awful?

They also tell you what weapons use those inputs. The alternative would be having to manually check each weapon for every potential input.

Most people don't try every input with every new weapon they get, the book tells you which weapons can do it.

Guns are the highest DPS weapons in the game.
But yes, they are lame and I never used any.

Guns are OP as fuck by the end. For low maintenance you can pop on the Recycle Hat and just use Diamond Bullets until forever. Otherwise, the Cowboy Hat or Gunslinger Hat, the latter of which doubles ammo consumption but will deal outrageous damage and melt bosses in seconds.

should have just been in the weapons description in that case.

But the discovery is part of the point. Often, you'll get the book before you can get the weapon so you have a tease and keep an eye out for the weapons in the book. I found it really exciting to find a weapon I'd seen and play with the technique. At least that's how I played it.

>that one meme gun which has homing projectiles that pass through walls

I liked techniques, hope the next game has even more.

Nothing, it was the most fun I had in a game in over an year and I'm not even a Castlevania fan, I'm still looking for a game as fun as Bloodstained ever since its release.

Attached: 1561824513711.jpg (1314x2160, 721K)

They released a patch that fucked the game forever just to appease trannies.

>get stuck
>looking for the dive power so i can sink in water
>look everywhere
>refuse to look up a guide
>realize something
>"no way this is gonna work"
>you're supposed to use the succubus blood spell to remove the blood
god damn that was odd. very un-castlevania-like

Explain. I haven't touched the game since I beat it a while back.

He's just joking around, there was no such patch.

They ruined all the good weapons and familiar with a nerf

I felt it was pretty obviously mainly cause the minimap showed a path downwards in that room so I was looking for a way to remove the blood up even before reaching that boss.

It was really good grrr i haet good

I liked the concept, but they were pretty useless.

The forward kick skill you got early in the game could actually be used as a pseduo air dash making it possible to reach some areas that would need invert or double jump a bit earlier.

This shit right here trivialized the entire game.

Everything trivialized the entire game, it's pretty broken.

plus when you go to dominique when you're stuck she basically tells you what to do

>week
weren't these daily for a pretty long time

wrong, they nerfed all the shit that made fresh nightmare runs easy, broken mid/late game stuff is still broken

miriam's gf's game is getting an update in a couple days too feels good

Anyone know if this means anything anymore? I'm honestly disappointed that Curse of the Moon is non-canon now just because of this.

Attached: what.jpg (480x480, 19K)

combat and movement is slow as fuck. i don't know how you fuckers an even stand it

PATCH WHEN??
ANAL PORN OF DOMINIQUE WHEN??

SWORDTRICKSWORDTRISWORDTRICKROYALSWORD

>one huge pool filled with bright red blood right in the first room with clearly something down of it
>boss gives you shard (the entire game gimmic: bosses give you mechanics) to drain blood
really nigga?

Hollow Knight is more 2d souls like than an actual metroidvania
>Low hit points, every hit counts, pure skill not level progression, focus entirely on bosses

>english dub player
Lol, pleb

Attached: laugh my sides off.jpg (180x216, 11K)

Is the hand boss supposed to go in the floor? Happened to me last night, and I can’t tell if it was supposed to look like shit or if it was a glitch

>Playing DMC in anything but english
Neck yourself faggot.

The Switch version is an unplayable mess that they refuse to fix and I'll not buying it a second time.

This bullshit again.

Hollow Knight is not difficult. Not in the slightest. Played for 3 hours straight and not a single death.

>playing japanese games, that has much more effort to the dub to be in their native languave, in english, missing entire accents and properly expressions as the jap dev wanted
Lol, mega pleb

>Played for 3 hoursstraight and not a single death.
So can I any dark souls game. Weak argument.

In dark souls you will be very likely killed in the first 20 mins of your play through. You can go through several zones in Hollow Knight and nothing will be a threat to you. Stop spreading the lie that HK is "hard".

Its not about being hard, Dark Souls is not hard either you just have to pay attention and time your moves. (DS3 has shit artificial difficulty for the meme)
its about the focus, the deatly-ness, the cost of one single hit, the recover mechanic in peaceful areas.
Hollow Knigh IS much more a 2d Souls like, just Salt & Sanctuary. But without the vast array of weapons

The only thing souls like is the collection of white stuff that is merely currency.

Underrated

>but they were pretty useless.
YOU WHAT!!!!! do a weapon only run user is very comfy
