Megaman legends 3 when?

The gameplay is good I never understood people that complain about it

The issue is that peak Battle Network is utterly fucking top tier.
Lacking the deck building, depth and strategy that those games had, Starforce is simply competent and good, but nothing more.

Sonia > Luna

Simply lock-on being a bad mechanic and the behind the back grid making it sometimes hard to perceive where the enemy actually is because there's too much depth to visually process. Also support cards in 3 were probably the absolute worst mechanic I can remember coming across in any of these games

Shit taste

I would have gotten 4 if they did it.

This.

They weren't bad games, but Starforce was never going to be on the same level as Battle Network. That, and the premise was inherently not as cool.

>support cards in 3 were probably the absolute worst mechanic
Holy shit, finally someone says it. Everyone keeps saying 3 is the best one, but that shit ruined it for me. Half of the time, I can only select one card at a time because half the the damn stack is support cards. It's infuriating and ruined the whole combat.

I remember the cringe

Now I wonder, what other gameplay type would fit Star Force for it to have its own identity and stop being BN but trading 25% gameplay for 70% more story and characters?

The new battle system was straight garbage

The perspective was awful, selecting chips was made more tedious and boss fights weren't as fun as Battle Network.

In about another 20 years.

Premise of Star Force was way more exciting than BN, protagonist himself was actually in danger, not just his gay internet avatar, and the villains were a lot more interesting than just Doctor Wily again

Surfing the Internet > listening to the radio

>implying EM waves are just radio waves
I see someone flunked high school science class

>What went right with the story?
Sure as hell not SF2

>and the villains were a lot more interesting than just Doctor Wily again
Only Cepheus was interesting because of the parallels drawn between him and Geo, both other main antagonists were lame. As for minor antagonists SF1's were memorable, SF2's weren't memorable and SF3 was a mixed bag of half of the antagonists being just berserk wizards and the other half being actual characters.

So you're saying you'd rather hack and shitpost through an avatar instead of getting your own superpowers? I'm not hating on BN, it does have one of the better premises in the franchise

Attached: 1562014176138.jpg (500x403, 99K)

>implying it networks is just the internet
WHOOPS GUESS I CAUGHT YOU ON A VERY SEMANTIC TECHNICALITY GUESS YOU LOSE

>So you're saying you'd rather hack and shitpost through an avatar instead of getting your own superpowers?
When you put it like that, yeah.

Vega and Dealer were the only plot you're getting out of SF2 and SF3, because there sure as hell wasn't anything interesting coming from the protagonist side of things in those games.

fucking this

One of the few things 2 did right was having Geo slowly assume his role as a hero. I don't remember much from SF3 Geo so he must've been fully developed by then

No. I played the trilogy recently. There was no "assume his role" shit. The only character moment Geo even had was when he started thinking of himself as a failure after he lost to Solo, and then he stopped thinking of himself as a failure after a pep talk from his mom and that was the end of it.

>I don't remember much from SF3 Geo so he must've been fully developed by then
He was pretty much already proactive from the start of SF3 and didn't retread the whole "but I don't want to fight" shit from the previous 2 games. He doubted himself a few times about whether or not he could actually do something but he usually quickly dismissed those doubts because no one else was going to pick up the slack if he failed.

>I remember the cringe
That is the StarForce series.

Attached: 020.jpg (600x450, 53K)

Don't forget his ramblings about Link Power.

Well yeah, but that was everyone in the game. Really made me question the timeframe here, has it only been two months since the last game and suddenly the entire world adopts a social credit system out of nowhere?

>the entire world adopts a social credit system out of nowhere?
That was fucking hilarious but then so was suddenly everyone masturbating over teams and purposes in SF3. That world goes through fads like crazy.

Megaman looks like the angry caveman sponge bob here

Everything.
Nothing.

Never. You'll get a ZX-style sequel series at best.

gameplay was broken in a boring way
story was more generic and had imo had a poorer overall premise

BN had a lot of interesting near future themes that intertwined pretty well with the real world that made it an interesting game

SF was a watered down future of BN, with muh alienz and wave tech while not really emphasizing the same interesting concepts that BN had.

If SF was more closely linked to BN it would have been a lot more interesting. Imagine an SF Bass for example

Based and Sonia-pilled

And the whole social credit sort of devalues the whole idea of brotherbands, people would just constantly make and break brotherbands just for the benefits having high scores offer.

But think about the zoomers!

What was the value of brotherbands to other people again? Like Geo gets power ups and shit out of it, but what was the purpose from a normie perspective?

Facebook tier friendlists I guess?

>What went wrong with the gameplay?
Too simple. You had a sidestep and a block, and everything else was lock-on or hit everything when used from the middle row. That's not even necessarily compared to Battle Network. Just in general, the combat was fast paced but even doing random shit got you an easy win. It was more a question of how fast, rather than planning to survive or be defeated.

>What went right with the story?
Luna. Not much else.

That's probably the biggest problem. MMBN had a goofy Saturday-morning plot with a ton of references back to the original series, giving both new players and old players a reason to see what the next chapter was about. Starforce tried to be a bit more serious about it, but stumbled over itself attempting (much like MMX) and it didn't have that old school reference to keep the original NES/SNES crowd going. At least in MMBN, I could keep playing to see if this fight was BubbleMan or AquaMan and to see what their design was. The next fight in Starforce was just going to be a generic computer virus or one of the radio aliens that had zero personality.

They also tried a half-baked romance, which they threw into the trash because Sonia was the game's Roll and so she ended up with Geo. Even though they had no interaction and Sonia was given no meaningful personality.

Attached: MMSF - Luna - 1415853676104.jpg (640x480, 39K)

>What went wrong with the gameplay?
Reducing your grid from 3x3 to 1x3 in order to provide the garbage 3D visuals from behind which resulted in inevitably dumbing down of all other combat elements due to your massively reduced mobility and tactical options from having an entire axis of movement removed.

>Sonia was the game's Roll and so she ended up with Geo
1: How can she even be compared to Roll? Sonia and even Luna are useful
2: Even if there was a clear bias towards GeoxSonia, they're not a couple per se (no, that one scene in OSS doesn't prove anything)

Who the fuck wants to look at Megaman's blurry ass? Side shot was clearly the best angle.

Because 7 8 9 nigga.

Sprite size relative to screen really threw people off.

>loves MM8
I don't hate it but I dislike MM8 more than any numbered game after 1. Just because of how many minigames it devolves to.

verticle instead of horizontal

the megaman legends artist drew loli porn of roll

are you kidding lan was on a hijacked plane

Exactly, it’s like some weird marriage ritual you sanctify with a phone. Always thought that was dumb.

Tfw you’re the only kid in town who likes mega man, and the game gimps you for not playing with other people.

>and the game gimps you for not playing with other people.
t.Solo

I never liked how top heavy his design was.

If only because it was the only card that did enough hits to make the ATK + 10 cards actually useful

Battle Network was the shit, which of the sequels are worth playing

Attached: 1494009532284.jpg (437x437, 66K)

I remember how stupid star cards were in 2. They really should have realized how broken they made multi hit chips like vulcan.

2,3 and 6.
5 is pretty mixed depending on if you like SRPGs.

Which is the best version of each Star Force game?

Attached: 02dc91ae8834f0f1146f83b3604aed23.jpg (1500x2122, 361K)

Attached: RDASHSS005.jpg (1971x3036, 703K)

Those were in all the games, but they weren't broken. Sure you could add more damage with ATK + 10, but consider that even the strongest Vulcan does only like 12 hits, so you're only adding a max of like 120 damage. Why would I use ATK+10 when I could just use another card that does higher than 120 damage?

Star cards were different, they added an extra copy of the chip to the folder making 4 vulcans and it added 15 to each hit of all 4 vulcans.

Weren't those only in the third game? But anyway, yeah, those were more useful than ATK +10 or ATK panels and whatnot, but they do have the downside of hamstringing your folder to a specific kind of card that might not be useful in all situations. Trying to use vulcans on a shielding enemy with double stone wouldn't be pleasant

Nah those were in 2. Thankfully the third game took them out because they just made multi hit chips silly especially if you had a tribe buffing them on top of that.

1: Doesn't really matter from what i've heard but pick Pegasus if you care about canon
2:Ninja if only for the best transformation and an exclusive cute scene with Sonia. Also, it might just be me but i felt it had less random encounters than Zerker
3:Apparently Black Ace. I was stuck with Red Joker due to being the only one in the links often posted in threads so i couldn't tell you

Attached: 1563557044653.jpg (1000x750, 436K)

Red Joker version generally has you get the forms that are better show up more often, every single one that appears more often in Red Joker is useful in some way. Black Ace has Cancer, Corvus and Libra, none of which are good for anything except the abilities they give

>3:Apparently Black Ace. I was stuck with Red Joker due to being the only one in the links often posted in threads so i couldn't tell you
Actually Red Joker is better thanks to wolf noise and cygnus noise. Both can still show up in Black Ace but they're far more rare.

Attached: SF3WolfNoise.png (215x400, 55K)

>and an exclusive cute scene with Sonia
Never heard of it. What's it like?

Don't forget Virgo, which doesn't even need 50% noise to use its inherent status immunities, and Taurus, who has inherent Super Armor. The only one that's only kind of iffy is Crown, but even it's still usable

>What went wrong with the gameplay?
they started bad but by SF3 they got it right, too bad it was already too late
>What went right with the story?
didn't dickrode BN and did its own thing.

It was killed by based reviews that
>This game is not battle network
However, in the third entry, it managed to be different this time

It's a small difference in the scene where you meet her again
Zerker/Saurian: You meet Sonia casually in the streets
Ninja: She sneaks up behind Geo and does the "guess who" thing

Meanwhile in Black ace, there's a lot of extremely underwhelming noises like Corvus with its extremely niche black hole immunity or fucking Libra which is just a joke.

They started good, but then SF2 completely screwed its meta with the Wave Command shit and annoying game design and SF3 had its gay support card system and the noise system was good as a means of adding depth but executed horribly.

>Ninja: She sneaks up behind Geo and does the "guess who" thing
Sure you aren't mixing up 2 with 3?

Fuck, my bad

>What went right with the story?
character development
chaud and megaman were the only ones who ever learned anything in bn while everyone had a nice character arc in sf (yes, everyone, even bud and zack)
fuck solo though

>Wave Command
It was annoying how many cards they locked behind that. At least 3 gave us plenty of cards with its library + illegal cards.

>fuck solo though
Only if it's a gangbang.

Attached: Mega Man Star Force 2 - Zerker X Ninja (Voice Restored)__32539.png (256x384, 5K)

it came after Battle Network peaked and megaman was was suffering franchise fatigue
in the same year (2006) we got Star Force we also got :
Powered up
Maverick Hunter X
ZX
Star Force
Exclusive japanese Battle Network game for java phones
Megaman X collection on the PS2 and Game Cube (6 fucking games)

he's discount Zero but with nothing that makes Zero good.

>Japan loves Megaman Volnutt
>Volnutt has the same JP VA as Luffy
>The entire Legends series
>capcom still not cashing on this
tell me about capcom. why they are so retarded?

the gameplay was a massive step back. It was a legit struggle going through dungeons because of how limited everything felt compared to BN. It's a shame because SF arguably does just about everything else better

More like discount Bass.EXE with his obsession with strength and hatred of relying on others. Still agree on hating him. I bet he actually deserved getting beat up by angry mobs for being a shithead.

He's more the Bass
Ace is the Blues/Protoman/Zero figure, though I feel Sonia kinda fits that as well

8 is a legit good game and have better art direction compared to 7

>What went wrong with the gameplay?
It's not Battle Network.
