critical hits are actually a mechanic in dragon quest, there are attacks who forces critical hits to happen, and the joy of having a critical hit happening on a metal slime and having that xp makes it iconic.

In pokemon the critical hits don't change animation they just make you do more damage.

And Fire Emblem as said, some has their animation as final smashes.

In Pokemon they not only deal more damage, but ignore stat changes that would lessen their damage while using stat changes that increase the damage. And you ignored the iconic SMAAAAAASH from the Mother series.

Here are the issues:

Has the potential for extreme jank low % stocks
>MP regens on its own at a pretty good pace
Meaning he really doesn't ever have to approach except in rare MUs

Random stocks will be lost sooner or lived longer all while he has functional tools without them. I'm not going to claim top tier or whatever, but he's not going to be very fun to fight against and encourages the type of play which already isn't very fun online-- running away and trying for YOLO shit.

I don't like either of these, but the risk for GW/Luigi's not pulling out a "crit" is often being punishable on hit. Over half of GW's attack pulls are straight up terrible. These are on regular smash attacks, and are no more slow than Link's.

A character who both has zoning and anti-zoning properties along with a bar that regens over time. Yeah, great one.

It's a bit faster than 1 per second. So if he were to be too low to use frizz, that would be a good 4 seconds ingame between frizz shots, which are slow, do fuckall knockback, and are only moderate in damage. Yeah, real spammy.

And that makes him have to approach how? He doesn't get any real incentive to approach. He also gets his recovery back more quickly than Robin does even with shit resource management. This is all assuming he allows himself to get that low in the first place you know.
