Gatekeeping in savage is adding a phase from the boss, kill that boss then get a "checkpoint" and get to a second phase of the boss. In Omega it was Exdeath then Neo-exdeath. Kefka > God-Kefka. That's gatekeeping.

How hard is Savage Eden? Is it just pure memorization like Innocence/Titania? I cleared Titania Ex several times but found it extremely unfulfilling due to the nature oh how difficulty actually works/memorization. Savage requires you to more or less get a static if you actually want to clear. PUGs for savage are unreliable and you'll almost never get gear because likely that more than one or two people have already cleared it. therefore making no gear drop.
You'd have to do it for several weeks to get any gear at all.

I have a hard time deciding on a class because I find a lot of them enjoyable to play. My issue is finding shit to do outside raids and shit.

Astro got a big buff for aoe heal and damage potency and a reduction in recast times. It means more healing ability, more damage ability and better party value with things like lower cool down on divination and sleeve draw auto drawing the next card. Haters will tell you it's not big but it is.

Titania wasn't difficult, it was all memorization. Unforgiving is probably the better work if someone spilled their spaghetti or looking for a carry.

SAM stuff was nice but it basically a gigantic sucker punch of seeing Hagakure back in the patch notes only for it to be a neutered version that's basically only good for post-downtime QoL.

worng. if your typical savage raider takes 10 times longer to clear than a world's best, it will take them 10 hours for this. If it took world's best raiders 5 hours to clear tiers 1 and 2, it would take a typical savage raider 50 hours to do the same. Of course there are slight variances, and I don't know the exact ratio, but my point is the correlation itself. World's best or not, the speed at which they cleared it does not speak well to the longevity where it will concern typical raiders.

The servers worked just fine on launch day aside from one hiccup when things were far more swamped than they are now.

They didn't fucking fix jack shit with AST. I tried it and it sucks like before. Awful fucking job identity, I hate the new cards, all the fun skills were removed in ShB and replaced with boring as fuck regen/shield abilities. Noct sect was fucking nerfed in this patch like if it deserved it or Yoshi said "You're no SCH of mine!". All it was fucking buffs to potencies and single target healing with AST still sucks donkey dicks. Tanks die immidiately, there's no damage abilities except the three boring ones, Divination is awful, cards are awful, we're still dependent on mana while the other healers get off free and never have to think about MP a day in their lives.

Sleeve Draw is easier to use, fantastic, it still fucking sucks. Horoscope lasts longer and has a bigger potency, who gives a fuck it still heals jack shit. Lightspeed is "easier" to use, again whoop the fucking doo and Helios and Aspected Helios has faster cast time. Again who gives a shit when the single target healing of AST is down in the drain?

At level 50, your aoe rotation should be Flare > Manafont > Flare > Max Ether > Flare. If there's more than, I think, 8 targets F2x2>Flare becomes your aoe rotation.

I've loved SMN since starting out years ago, but always ignored SCH because it was levelled for free so I never got to naturally learn it. WHM is tempting, but SCH seems to have so many more oGCD options for healing. As far as Tanks and Physical DPS I'm still undecided. Any advice?

What fucking boss gives you 40 seconds of downtime? I hope to god they unlock Shoha from Meditation. I just don't know what you'd make it based off instead of meditation. There's nothing fun about rotation 7 buttons, one ogcds and a couple of situational ones.
This problem is particularly emphasized in ff14 where every single expansion is exactly the same as the previous one though. I can return 10 years later and I'd still do the msq, then kill the 2 primals, then farm them for mounts, then do normal raids, etc etc. The overworld will still be dead, everybody will still be afking in Limsa, the same 5% of players would do raids 1 million times until the next tier comes out.

e1s has 2 actual "mechanics" and they are pretty compass based without a lot of shit changing each run. After 3-4 wipes the group usually peacefully disbands and you jump back into raid finder with the appropriate learning and phase you're on.
Most of the time everyone is pretty considerate and don't jump into the clear tab unless they're ready for it.

In ESO; for example, tanks have to change sets all the time for different fights. DPS usually change them for different types of content or after patches where certain traits become more useful than others.

Hello fellow PLD. I noticed that if you pop FoF after Riot Blade, you have a bit more leeway with your Goring Blade at low Skill Speed. I've been playing around with it and with 1500 Skill Speed, you can easily hit the window after popping FoF after Fast Blade. Then again, I don't know how useful Skill Speed is sans that and easy building of the Oath Gauge (which is helpful for shielding teammates and still being able to Shelltron Tankbusters). I'd say keep experimenting and make use of what you will with my anecdote.

WoW raids are full of gear checks. Imagine if every raid tier had 8 fights, but the odd numbered fights were all Fausts that required BiS gear from the last floor to clear (EG first floor requires all HQ crafted overmelded gear, second requires all the drops from floor 1, etc). That's how WoW raids work

Gear in XI had different aspects that was needed for certain moves. You could switch gear mid-battle and it was optimal to switch gear for say a big attack, and then switch gear back to a more defensive one.

Only way Hori-Prog would work in XIV would be to either emphasize the different stats more (i.e. more crit needed for certain fights and others needing sks) or they decide to add elemental gear needed for certain fights (i.e. Lightning Gear for Leviathan)

People meme about vertical progression but the gear carrot keeps people playing, it's tougher to justify doing content for the sake of just doing it when you know there are no upgrades. After the first few times the "newness" wears off and why would you do it again if there's no rewards for you?

The Wow raid tier has 8 bosses, ff14 has 4. Also, ff14 has a really really basic gear progression and gear has no role in clearing. You don't need alts, you don't need meta comps, etc.

FF14 has boring gear but I can at least decide what my BiS is with limited stuff. WoW has decided BiS and figuring it out is busy work that shouldn't be part of the experience. Hence removing goal driven gameplay and turned it into repetitive gameplay instead.

No, a new hat is what keeps content repeatable which is the real point here.
Someone might enjoy doing Castrum and Praetorium the first time as it has story significance, subsequent times you already know the story and the encounters don't change. Thus the MSQ Roulette exists to reward you for repeating that content to help others get their clears of said content.

Its never going to change because the only other sources will be dungeon, 24-man and PvP content. Dungeons will never be tuned hard enough to justify dropping savage ilvl gear, if its too easy then it'll become the defacto welfare epics and thats another issue entirely. 24 mans always come late and is only a briding point between normal and savage, it'll never be tuned for a higher difficulty. PvP is a joke.
