It would take an ASTRONOMIC fuck-up on Sony's part to even get close to the situation they put themselves in with PS3. It cannot happen again. The people who engineered PS3 are gone, for good and bad. The new blood are way more cautious, relying on true and tested parts instead, sold for cheap. We already know PS5 will be Ryzen CPU and Navi GPU. That alone pretty much singlehandedly rules out a PS3 scenario.
